Such a great video. They really showed the work well and explained it all in a simple understandable manner. I liked it that they did not go into the artist's psyche like some shows do. I think this was a superb video.
I admire the interpretation of the professionals but disrespect the fact that it often has a higher perceived value than the feelings of any nonprofessional art admirer.
Now if entry was free for all others and not just those who live in the metrolitan NY area, the Met would be evincing a democratic and cultural ideal worthy of its name. The Met is reminded that when donors of art work receive tax write offs for their donation, the cost of that subsidy falls on ALL Ametican taxpayers, not just those who live in the vicinity of the Met. The art work belongs to ALL people - not just some.
No…. Just…. No…. This art is for New Yorks elite like myself and those who can pay…. If you want free art draw it yourself. Free museums…. How silly 😂 I hope they increase ticket prices! ❤greasy fingers all over the art….
Then it should expect NO benefits from the Federal government in the form of tax write-offs that are subsidized by ALL the taxpayers. It should be a purely private institution, open only to a segment of the population and be subject to taxation itself. What would you say if States outside NY, NJ and CT imposed highway tolls only on those three States travelling on their roadways? In the name of fairness and equity make the Met free for all.
I can't stand overstuffed "curators ". Overused word....it only means something that someone selected. Big deal. No wonder people go to museums less and less.
I'd love to see the exhibition in person.
And to whoever did the cinematography work on this video: OUTSTANDING!

And today, most "fine furniture" is sourced from IKEA. 😢
I wouldn't say fine furniture, I would say temporary furniture since it doesn't have much of a life span.
No we have actual fine furniture makers in America and around the world. IKEA is for the masses.

Many of us NYC inhabitants happily pay the entry fee. Museums need money to operate.

Biased presentation… Reflecting current thinking … flawed … not one mention of Hispanic contributions other than wood from Cuba
Why don't you donate some of the pieces you speak of? I don't come across what you say they're ignoring and I'm an active buyer.
There is a room in this wing with Spanish works including the Crown of the Andes and paintings of Spanish America, it wasn't covered in this video.
So much discussion around race...it makes me sick. Focus on the art instead, we are sick of this stuff
It’s our country!

Why are you watching a museum video 🤣🤣
