Faberge a remarkable man who had a craft which people found a gift, bought delight. A jewelry maker who made beautiful miniature memories. Inspired other craft makers. Unfortunately haters are going to hate, the way of the beast. But what beautiful items ❤
The first time I ever saw a Faberge Egg it was in a magazine (back then we used smoke signals to communicate). I fell in love with it, I knew I wanted to own one someday. Unfortunately as a kid you have no idea you'll never own one. They are beautiful, so well crafted and imagined. Although they aren't the real thing even the ones being made now are gorgeous. Finding that missing egg must have been the dream of dreams.
Why was there no mention of the collection of Majorie Merriweather Post at Hillwood or the eggs at the Richmond Museum of Fine Art? I have seen both collections as well as what was on display at The Hermitage and The Winter Palace. Sadly when I was in St Petersburg it was still Leningrad and there has been so much restoration since I was there.
In my 20s I worked w a woman in her fifties who said she had 3 Fabarge eggs. She said her father had been part of the Russian court and I thought she said he had received them as gifts. She invited me to see them but I never did. She died of cancer shortly afterwards. Seeing this video brought her to mind. And there are 3 missing. She had no children. I wonder what happened to them
You know what’s really bizarre? Throughout the latest war in Ukraine, Russia has sent men to the front with Mosin Nagant rifles that were state of the art…in 1891. They still have stockpiles from WWII that never made their way to the front. They have also had a difficult time finding enough socks to give the soldiers. SOCKS. Meanwhile, Putin and his cronies are squirreling away billions of dollars for their own pleasure. And jokes aside, Russia really IS employing the same tactics in Ukraine today that they relied on in WWII. That’s one reason the recent influx of North Korean soldiers is worth noting. They’re using the same human wave approach they used in Korea in 1951. ZERO concern about the individual. Just keep throwing bodies at the other guy until something happens
The Faberge Eggs were broken up by the communists and sold. Probably the same thing happened to the Amber Room in Saint Petersburg. If you ever get the chance to go to the Hermitage you’ll see many works of art came into the possession of the Russians in WWII.
I would love to see the Amber Room found in my lifetime but, I think Stalin pulled the greatest ruse of all. Stalin knew Hitler would take it and switched it with a fake. I don't believe the real Amber Room ever left Russia.
They were either hidden by the Nazis or sold off to very wealthy individuals that will never tell anybody about them because they have more money than God and they don’t need to tell anybody because if they did, they’d have to explain where they got them
Do you mind if I ask who your aunt is. Our family is also related to Nicholas through my grandmother. All I know is, my mom has an aunt who has or had an estate somewhere and I'm wondering if its the same aunt. I know we have the Czars seal that has been passed down. My cousin has it now.
Where is the missing Fabergé Nécessaire Egg? In an article on the egg, Wartski states, "It was last recorded [on our premises] on the 19th June 1952 when it was sold a buyer named as 'A Stranger' for £1250... The purchaser's anonymity was safeguarded throughout Wartski's records and they remain unidentified."3l Its current whereabouts are unknown. Who tf is sitting on this egg
Shame really because tsar Nicholas, king George and kaiser Wilhelm were cousins. If the bbc pretends not to know of the germanic origins of Queen Victoria's grandchildren, too bad.

@@maszkalman3676 Can't remember that Germany has stolen anything? Only during WWI and WWII. And this was all taken back and much more after the war for recompensation as usual. Germany respective German Archaelogists and rich Germans bought a lot of artefacts. Benin statues for example are bought from British goverment, and the British took it as a recompensation from the Benins. We did not take any thing from the Benin. It was colonial time. And Germany was very short term in colonial business. After WWI all was taken over by British or French. Nazis did a lot of terrible things in 12 years. Very effective, all archived. And so it is still today no problem to return it back to the descendants. Other countries don't have such burocracy, and so they keep much more artefacts as you may imagine. And they do colonisation since hundreds of years. But they don't have exact lists of millions of people taken to slavery. They need recompensation first. Several are still privately owned. It’s possible, just extremely rare.
@Alec-zx8eo yea, I work for a living, so the closest I'll get is a sniff in a magazine. . Haha
its a rare that my family left me a one and keep it for now
Yep only to be admired from a photograph

Superb Fabergé.
This sounds super interesting and im really excited for this
Amazing documentary . I love documentaries
great craftsmanship and uncompromising patronage, well said.
I love this! Love it and I will look forever for anything similar.
A wonderful history lesson on Russia with the Royals and Faberge.
I seen many. The crystal egg was my favorite. His bread and butter was things like umbrella handles and makeup cases.
The missing eggs are located somewhere in Denmark but they won't reveal them because they want to keep them hidden
Thanks for this great documentary. 😃
I set up at Lakewood antique market in the 1990’s a faberge egg show up and it got sold several times.I forgot what price it eventually sold for.
I swear my nan had one of these on her mantle as a child.
I can't remember it exactly, buy I do recall it was weighty and beautiful.
I believe I saw one at Home Goods.
Delightful. And a good history lesson for people to hide history repeating of course was slight variations.
