This video is an absolute education. Before watching it I had some awareness of Homer's work but this Met 'tour' hosted by two knowledgable curators/experts makes a powerful case for the greatness of this artist. For me personally the 'Crosscurrents' exhibition is an absolute 'must see' and if not in New York, then certainly in London when it travels here. Thanks to the Met for organizing the show and for this enlightening video🙏.
Homer's subjects are so different from Vermeer, but that's the only comparison I can make. He handles light the same way Vermeer did. Incredible, incredible artist.
Thank you for showing my favorite painter! But you missed a very favorite painting"the Herring Net". I believe it is in the Chicago art Museum . How I would love to see a Homer, display in Boston!
Can’t believe you admitted homer left his paintings ambiguous in meaning.Because wow WOW you sure have imagined a ridiculous amount of story to some of those paintings. Just let the viewers decide!!!
I absolutely LOATHE the presentation by flitting from one painting to another, and commentary which demands precedence over what should be a viewer's own enjoyment of the paintings.
I wish there were a way for these folks to talk about art that dispensed with the fawning, dramatic serious almost pious quality. Blech. The artist is interesting. The art is interesting. Conversations about art can be fun and enlivening. But these 2 are deadly. Please Met, you can do better.
Very interesting presentation - but the idea that a visitor to the Met can stand 12 feet back from a painting to admire it, without having their view blocked by other visitors, is laughable, and proof that curators have no idea what it’s like for civilians to take in a show at the Met. Looking forward to seeing it anyway …
These women probably went to an old rabbinical Yeshiva, where they learn to read in a text a lot more than what was written, then apply these silly and some times senseless hermeneutic to these amazing paintings. I wonder what Homer would say if he could hear their conversation. This moves me to be sure all my paintings have a clear description written behind each one, so centuries later the students of these women don't read or see what is not there No even a Kabbalist preacher could come up with their absurd interpretations.
These gallery s like wierd paintings I have better paintings and cant even put them in a gallery I don't understand these people that work in auction s there strange .
I think that dude tryed to show background of slavery with that turtle picture and sharks. Kind of its all the same. And this blackdude near sharks(that represents his slavery and white people) have same grimasse of don't giveashit on his face. Kind of he didn't understood the connection, course he don't giveashit
How amazing! Although I can't travel to see this exhibit, I was able to walk through it with such loving attention of the curators. Thank you so much.
Homer's work is amazing 👏 thank you for providing an insight into his work.
No less than excellent. Thank you.
Without these two wonderful gifted ladies I would not have appreciated Homer’s amazing art work - thank you both 😊
These two women are such a pleasure to listen to - thank you both. I learned so much.
So glad I found this. Watching from Wyoming-Thank You!❇️
A wonderful tour and commentary on the works of Winslow Homer!
Thank you! Your presentation of Homer’s work is tremendous.
Extraordinary artist. A “must see” for certain.

Such a beautiful gift to the world. Thank you ladies.
Winslow Homer's art brings me to the east coast of the US, more than that, it brings me the feeling of being on the US east coast.
Thank you for this outstanding presentation! I look forward to seeing this magnificent artist in person!
Amazing presentation by these highly skilled curators. They brought me into the paintings. Wonderful.
A must see at The Met,

Such an enlightening presentation. I had never seen the fox hunt and it is amazing.
Thank you for sharing. Being on the other side of the world it will be unlikely to visit. A gifted artist indeed.
Wonderful! I am looking forward to visiting The Met to see these works in person.
On my way there. Amazing artist.

I like this art
Why the HEADACHE music? Silence is golden, or at the most something better then mindless "atmosphear".
Lovely.
I can’t believe there is no mention of the dates of this exhibition. Big oversight, huge.
Sometimes a fox is just a fox.
I got one of his art what should I do
Who's even heard of Winslow Homer outside of the US? I think he's superior to Manet.
He's better known than you assume. Saw quite a few Homers in a Madrid museum a few years ago.
Some paintings are just paintings.
Or aren't the moral allegories these two curators wish them to be.
Or you can just come to the Cape Ann Museum in Gloucester which has his many many Gloucester painting up all-lll the time

I wish they would just be quiet and let the art speak for itself.... art narration is so mundane.
Then don’t watch . They are curators pointing out details.

That. Was. Not. He's. Last. Paintings.....they. Do. Not. Know what. They. Are. Talking. About m
Great artist. It's a pity about the two politically correct women giving the commentary.

Homer was a great artist but some of the morons who wrote in show what we are today.
Kinda depressing
