Great info...only thing I found is that you have to play around with tire size options (use a GPS speed app) until its correct. For me it was the actual tire measurement, not what the sidewall said.
Typically, it should be what the actual measurement is. There have been updates since this video was made and I too have found it necessary to set my tire size accordingly.
@wayalife I have the AEV ProCal Snap and it harness installed in my JL. I liked the Tazer so much from your video I got one. My question is, do I have to remove the AEV harness to use the Tazer or can I leave it in?
Yes I want to know this too. I noticed my JT only locks in 4lo, and I was freaking pissed at this feature, so dumb. I should be able to lock whenever I want.
Hi if you leave the stop start in the off position will the remote start still work ? & can you improve the throttle response with this also ? THANKS for the video

Our Wrangler specifications are somewhat different, for example the LED headlamps circle do not work inactive and I don't know how I can make them work like your Wrangler specifications. Thank you.
Yes, it's permanent and you get to do it twice for the price. However, the cost has gone up since making this video or at least, from what I understand.
That’s a pretty cool little gadget!! Can’t wait to get more toys for mine...!! Great video Eddie...!! Do you run a Go Pro as a dash cam ...? I’m considering it....Was involved in a nasty semi-truck wreck in June 2015.... I swear by using some traffic camera in my vehicles.
I don’t want the dealer to find out about this invasive install due to warranty reason. I might have to unplug this unit before taking it for service. Do I need to unmarry it before I unplug the unit? Thanks!
Great video as always! This is something I’d love to have and after watching your video, it doesn’t look so arduous. Does this void any factory warranty?
Wayalife I’m thinking of getting this just for the fun of being able to adjust additional settings...for me, the lockers option in 4h and turning off the start/stop makes it worth the price. I’d imagine that you should always remove the taser when taking the car in for service, and also I’m assuming it doesn’t leave any trace for FCA to see that you had the taser installed previously?
So should you remove the tazer from jeep if taking in for service, (the part under the kick panel) and if you do will your jeep go back to factory settings or will you lose the settings you changed?
Hey Eddie, I just bought a Sprint Booster for mine. I have spent 3 days and cant find the tab to disconnect the wires from the pedal to install the sprint booster. I am about to take it to the dealership. Have you looked at the wires going to the gas pedal and found a way to disconnect it? The install took my 10 minutes on my last JK, cant seem to get it done on the JL.
Hi thank you so much for all your videos they’re easy to follow I instructions just one question, you said you can remove the Tazer after the setting is done, is that correct? And my jeep has the safety packet since I added the Tazer the dashboard screen has the icon on with the 2 cars crushed , did I forget to update something in the set up?
It depends on which one you have. If you have the mini, you need to leave it in all the time. If you have the big one like what you see in this video, you can remove it but some of the functions will not work with it out. The icon you are seeing is the collision prevention, if you changed out your bumper and no longer have the sensors, you need to turn them off.
I know this is an old video, but do you still stand by that statement that you don't have to measure the tires, just use what's stamped on them? I've never heard that before. Thanks.
If you would have asked me before installing this Tazer, I would have been one of the people telling you that you need to measure your tire from the ground to the edge of the tread or from the center of the hub to the ground and then x2. In fact, I had done just that initially and my speedometer was not correct. Trying it again by just entering what is on the sidewall, the speedometer was on. Of course, I am just share what I experienced.
Hello Eddie, another great video! I am a new Jeeper and love watching all your videos. When you first had the tire size flashed at the dealership did they make you pay extra for a warranty clause? I also had my JLUR flashed at the Dealership and FCA confirmed as of 5/8/2018 for warranty protection I had to sign a clause/addendum and pay the $130 flash fee and $175 warranty addendum fee. I like the taser and would like to get it for the TPMS. Again, great video!
Is this updated or fully functional for the 2019? Just got my 2019 2 door rubicon and have 35's going on it in a couple of days. Would rather put the calibration cost towards buying this since start/stop and auto park need to be addressed.
Great review. I installed 35" on my gladiator, will this fix my shifting issues. Truck has hard time upshifting now. Thx a bunch. And is this the best solution.
Nice video! Just wondering - is it the digital speedometer, the analog gauge, or both that will reflect the updated speed based on the newly programmed tire size?
There is no analog anything on the JL Wrangler. Calibrating the speedometer will be done through the computer and will show up on your dash and in your shift points.
Very precise video, but I have two questions. After you plugged in the Tazer unit you opened the door and got into the Jeep. Doesn't the Tazer go under the dash, also? The door would have already been open. Unless it was an editing thing. And, do you leave everything plugged in, the Tazer unit and the by-pass? Could they be removed?
Yes, it will read and clear codes. Regarding the tire size, this is how they do it at the dealership and I only know this because that's where I had mine originally done. I have also tried setting the tire size to what mine actually measure and my speedometer was off. I think Jeep just made it so that it would be easier to set.
I am using tazer mini and if i'm vehicle info dashboard the jeep image with all tires showing tires pressure is not showing in dashboard, What setting in tazer mini that i need to do? 2019 jeep wrangler sport jl
You mentioned that the Tazer can control the radio as well. What functions will it allow that are blocked - video playback? I heard you can also set the tazer to turn the back up camera on which the turn signals are engaged so that you can see more. Any other tweaks?
For the most part, no BUT I would anyway just in case. If for whatever reason your dealership needs to flash your computer, this will render the Tazer inoperable.
I'm unsure if this was mentioned already or not, but once you've programmed the SS to be off or disabled, will it still hold this setting after the device has been removed from the Jeep?
If I turn off the TPMS using the Taser, will it still show the tire pressures? I want to get rid of the dummy light but would still like to see the pressure as that function is still working with my aftermarket wheels.
Another great video. Question and it might be a strange one. I understand the bypass module needs to be connected for you to change the settings. After you have done all you need to do. Can you remove the bypass module and the changes stay changed. I hear people asking why would you do that. AM a strange lad, just ask my wife ; - )
The bypass module needs to stay in place. In fact, Z Automotive doesn't even sell this version of the Tazer anymore as all you need is the bypass now. It comes with everything. You do need to remove it before going to the dealership though.
Wayalife so, I just got my Tazer JL lite which is supposed to work for 2020 gladiator as well and I had no option to marry it. It did show JL and some number. Looked like firmware?? I have no idea. Have any solutions or know why it wouldn’t show the marry option?? It’s a little strange. I ordered it off eBay. Maybe someone returned it and didn’t unmarry??
You mentioned that unlike the JK, you don’t have to measure the actual tires you are using. Just use what’s listed on the tire itself. So, I just purchased and installed some 37x12.50/17” KO2’s for my 2021 JLUR 4xE, and they run pretty small. I measured them on the Jeep today and the diameter was right at 35.5 inches. When not installed on the Jeep, they measure closer to 36. I’ve known a lot of people to say that BFG’s measure smaller than other brands. Is it safe to say that not all 37s are created equal when entering your numbers in with the Tazer?
@@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI Using the Tazer, you won't be able to get an exact number in there. I would get as close to what is written on the sidewall and go with that. ALL tires measure a bit off from what is written on the sidewall. Here is a link to examples of what I'm talking about. www.wayalife.com/threads/the-ultimate-true-tire-size-database.35075/
@@wayalife Thanks for the link! I understand that they usually don’t measure to the exact size listed. I once used an AEV pro cal on a different Jeep that the instructions specifically said to measure the tire size down to a quarter of an inch and to enter that number. I just watched another video showcasing the tazer mini and they cycled through the numbers in the EVIC that had increments down to approximately a quarter of an inch that you could enter. I’m about to perform this myself so I’ll soon find out! Lol. It does make me wonder if they compensate in the programming for the difference in stated and actual tire diameter sizes.
@@MotoringAdventures_KE7SAI LOL - like I say in the video and you pointed out, "UNLIKE THE JK..." As in, I tried putting in the exact measurement and it my speedometer was off. But hey, you should do what you think is best or what you have seen elsewhere and if it works out better, awesome 👍
I've been considering getting one of these for my 2020 Rubicon Jl. I was bummed to find I don't have the 4wd or inclinometer on my main screen. Do you know if the Tazer JL can change that?
Ok, here is a scenario. I want to run 37s on my JL, so do I need the Tazer JL to ensure that it correctly reads the right tire pressure for each tire? And would I need aftermarket tpms sensors/valve stems?
If you want to keep your TPMS, you can either have your tire shop recycle your factory sensors or you can have new ones installed. You would need something like a Tazer JL to recalibrate your speedometer AND to either turn off your TPMS or set the values of them lower but you do not need it to keep the sensors reading correctly.
@@wayalife Do you also recommend the Superchips FlashCal to reprogram for bigger tires and tpms? Or is the Tazer JL lite better? I deciding between those two.
Wayalife Roger that now do you know if this tazer will increase performance like the Pulsar says they will can both the Pulsar and Tazer be used together? 1. For the line lock, light show, and cool live features of the tazer and 2. For the added performance pages and options of the Pulsar
I know I’m commenting on an old video but I really need an answer for this. My winters are actually smaller than my stock tires by 1.5 inches and I’m about 7 kmph off (speedometer shows 110kmph when actually only driving 103). Is my odometer based off of the tire rotations because with my calculations I’ve added about 400 kms extra to the odometer that I have not actually driven. Would really appreciate a reply thanks.
Huh. Useful. Does the Tazer turn off the ESS completely, or allow it to remember it's last setting? Also would there be any disadvantage to just leaving the Tazer connected?
The ESS will only be disabled when the Tazer JL is installed. So far, I haven't been able to determine if it's completely off. There is no disadvantage to leaving it connected or that I have seen so far.
agreed. i used the AEV pro cal on the JK to set and forget then remove once changes have been stored in the ECU. I would not like to leave anything hanging out of the OBD2 port as jumping in and out of Jeeps with boots on will almost certainly end in disaster. Looks like a great product, only if it can be removed..
Hi I was about to watch your video about Tazer JL installation It was so impressive anyways, I had a mere problem when I try to kill S/S button on. when I finished the setting and turned the engine off and engine on again, the S/S off button isn’t truned on. How could you do that? Please help me :-/
Assuming you left the Tazer installed on your OBDII, it should remember the last position you had the S/S. If off, that's what it still should be. Perhaps you need to update your Tazer.
@@wayalife Thank you a lot! But I just wonder how I can update my tazer. I got the usb when I bought this , if you had a homepage about these kind of manual, just let me know how :-) Anyways, i think my tazer version is including the s/s mode cause when I left this installed and key on, it worked! should I just dont pull it out from my car? should it be always married when I take the wheel? Please answer me, Thnks a lot again :)
Hi Eddie, what diameter should I enter for BFG KO2 285/75R17? BFG specs said 33.9 inches. But you mentioned the number on the tire sidewall should be entered into Taser JL. So what's the number for 285/75R17?
I don't know if that's the case anymore. For MOST programmers, you want to enter what you measure - typically, from the center of your wheel to the ground and then x2.
Whether you want the programmer or not, you did a great job of showing the installation and use. Thank you.

I have also tried setting the tire size to what mine actually measure and my speedometer was off. I think Jeep just made it so that it would be easier to set.
Does this get in the way of a clutch? Looks like it might hang down kind of low.
It doesn't for me.
I am using tazer mini and if i'm vehicle info dashboard the jeep image with all tires showing tires pressure is not showing in dashboard, What setting in tazer mini that i need to do? 2019 jeep wrangler sport jl
Excellent!
Thank you :)
You mentioned that the Tazer can control the radio as well. What functions will it allow that are blocked - video playback?
I heard you can also set the tazer to turn the back up camera on which the turn signals are engaged so that you can see more.
Any other tweaks?
What is your tire pressure now also what is your tpms warning light psi set?
You can only set your TPMS to 25 psi. I typically run 28 for daily driving.
Does this taser work for Renegades? Speedometer recalibration, light show, etc.
would be cool if it could reprogram transmission shift modes for on and off road ....
Another GREAT video!!!
Thank you :)
I got free services as part of the deal when I bought my JL !!! Do you know if I need to put things back to normal when I take it in ?
For the most part, no BUT I would anyway just in case. If for whatever reason your dealership needs to flash your computer, this will render the Tazer inoperable.
I'm unsure if this was mentioned already or not, but once you've programmed the SS to be off or disabled, will it still hold this setting after the device has been removed from the Jeep?
No. You would need to leave it plugged in. Tazer now comes in a Mini and it stays in all the time.
@@wayalifeThanks!
If I turn off the TPMS using the Taser, will it still show the tire pressures? I want to get rid of the dummy light but would still like to see the pressure as that function is still working with my aftermarket wheels.
No, it will not.
Do you have any problems hitting 8th gear with larger tires
Without regearing, 8th gear essentially does not exist.
Wayalife thanks for the prompt reply
Does the Tazer have a feature to allow you to turn off the Halo lights while the engine is running? If not, do you know how this can be done?
If it's not already a feature, you could contact Z Automotive and ask for that feature.
Very informative, thank you. Can you tell me if this same programmers works for gladiators as well?
Yes. I have one, or I should say, the new Mini version of it on my Gladiator.
@@kertiszman Sounds to me like that's exactly what happened.
No tire is created equal.
@@wayalife Do you recommend going off my tires actual measurements or should I enter what Is listed on the sidewall?
Does the taser need to be programmed before installing in the Jeep ?
No but I would highly recommend that you do an update to get the latest firmware.
I've been considering getting one of these for my 2020 Rubicon Jl. I was bummed to find I don't have the 4wd or inclinometer on my main screen. Do you know if the Tazer JL can change that?
No, that would come with your infotainment package.
@@wayalife that's what I was afraid of. Thank you.
you forgot to show the rear of the light show..
After you use it on one Jeep can it be used on another? Or is it locked to your Jeep from that "marrying" setting?
It is locked to your Jeep. You can "unmarry" it and then use it on another Jeep but it will then be locked to it.
You would need something like a Tazer JL to recalibrate your speedometer AND to either turn off your TPMS or set the values of them lower but you do not need it to keep the sensors reading correctly.
as usual ed great information
Thank you :)
Will I be okay getting the Tazer JL lite for just reprogramming for bigger tires and tpms? Or do I need to get the Tazer JL mini?
You should be okay for what you are needing.
@@wayalife Do you also recommend the Superchips FlashCal to reprogram for bigger tires and tpms? Or is the Tazer JL lite better? I deciding between those two.
@@mion1981 They both get the job done.
Would the Tazer get rid of the pesky weather warnings? I can’t figure out how to disable them.
Yes, it will allow you to disable them.
wow did it say it was 134 degrees outside on your dash?
LOL - It did and I don't know why. It was hot out for sure but not that hot :)
Do you have to unmarry it every time yo take in for service? Will it leave a trace on the ecu?
You need to unmarry it any time you go to the dealership.
Wayalife Roger that now do you know if this tazer will increase performance like the Pulsar says they will can both the Pulsar and Tazer be used together? 1. For the line lock, light show, and cool live features of the tazer and 2. For the added performance pages and options of the Pulsar
Did you have the TAZER programmer installed before your MOAB trip?
No
I know I’m commenting on an old video but I really need an answer for this.
You really need to be setting your tire size based on what it measures up to.
So we have to buy 2 items ? Mini tazer and module ?
No. This video was made before the mini was available.
@@wayalife Same here, the JL version is = to the mini.
Huh.
The Tazer ONLY needs to stay plugged in IF you use the "live functions". All the other settings do NOT require the Tazer to be plugged in.
Live functions like light show? That I can understand.
@@cjjeep5 maybe unbolt the obdII port and move it.....someplace boot friendly.
@@wayalife Got it. I will measure. Thanks!
