As a new ramp agent in training for Spirit Airlines my class and I had to watch this video twice and made me cry because my mom is a spirit airlines flight attendant.
@@spenserlarsen8225 If they mess up, they go to prison Not even kidding. Screw up in most jobs and at worst, you get fired. If a ramp agent messes up, an airplane could literally fall out of the sky and hundreds of people will be killed. And that ramp agent may find him or herself behind bars. So yeah, maybe that email you accidentally sent isn't quite the crisis you thought it was.
The crews on the aircraft’s I work tend to do their walk around check while we’re still loading. So in other words, they would likely not see this as it would t be there when they do their walk around. Majority of the time that’s a good 20 mins before our grounds crew does their final walk around, after all equipment has been removed. Check doors, panels, for damages, etc. Still, it is vitally important to always be aware and take your time, while still being quick. Never cut corners. Much rather a flight go out a minute or two late, than not at all, or worse, it goes out and crashes. When I took my loading supervisor class, they taught us about CYA “Cover Your Ass” That loading supervisor did not cover his own ass by letting someone else to his Pre-Departure Check, if that was specifically his job. Lots of lessons learned in this video really
Michael Real no. They’ll either drug test you or if it wasn’t really your fault then they don’t even drug test you. I’ve been in incidents where an aircraft was damaged and I never lost my job
This happened to me in 1990 are ramp loader died and the Supervisor borrowed another from a different airline and assumed he checked it out , he didn’t I chalked the loader turned up the belt and started to feed the inside person then it happened the belt loader by vibrating ran into the outer skin tore a 2 foot hole on the side. You can only imagine what I felt. Told the Supervisor on the ramp he accepted no responsibilities and I solely took the fall 30 days suspension . I felt bad wasn’t like me to make a mistake. What a lasting memory. The inconvenience for all those passengers.
A worked for ats at sky harbor and the only bad thing was they made us wear gloves. I've been doing the ramp for 3+ years before working for ats and never wore gloves
David Nganga The airline Captain/First Officer always do walk arounds prior to passenger boarding, or currently boarding the passengers onto the flight, not when the flight is ready to pushback and start.
Pilot does the walk around about 15-20 min before departure. Most times, the crew is still loading. The crew lead does the final walk around. I dont know what policy ats has for walkaround but the lead should be the one doing it, not the station attendant!
THIS WAS ABOUT AN UNTRAINED PERSON TOO SENSELESS TO REALIZE THAT AT HIS DOING AN UNFORGIVABLE CATASTROFE ACCURRED..... SOME OF THESES COMMENTS ARE REAL STUPID AND CHILDISH !!....regardless if it was capable of happening or not it was hypothetical
They showed this in our GAT training. First of all, engine failure wouldn't happen from a little ding like that. And the belt loaders are never that close lmao. This is just over exaggerated
Wouldn't the captain or fo do a walk around check before start? They should've seen the engine damage. But yes, ground crew has to report any damage or malfunction. The aviation industry works round the clock like a perfect well oiled machine and safety is the utmost priority. So this video totally makes sense.
This is just a demonstration and experiment no individuals were killed or injured it's all part of the plan showing what happens you don't do your work correctly
@@prgoddess yes I’ve worked on all 3 of those and never had any issues with them being too close to the engine. maybe because I been doing it for so long lol
The training at ATS is pathetic. I'm surprised more planes don't go down when they touch them. The station I worked at couldn't hire people that were smart enough to count properly and they screwed up the center of gravity a few times on multiple flights.
totally agree. report anything and everything. if that was me, i'd feel so guilty seeing that and report it right away. no second thoughts
Its your fucking duty to do that.
True

The video look simple, but it full of awareness. Great job!
I used to work all 3 of these people. All were great and miss working with them
Damn this is a mad training video
Westjet rule. The person (POA) leading the flight has to do the walk around no matter how many times someone has done it.
100%
Yes! Lazy work from Flight Coordinator POV. ☹
It's a big mistake to not notify and declare something that can seriously compromise the flight safety .
Yeah he didn't report it and his mom died..... But guess who didn't lose their job that day?
In this video. He would lose his job and would be going to Federal Prison

They'll just investigate who did it with security cameras, so he'll lose it soon enough.

Don't just stand there, someone go get some glue
You mean some flex seal
It's called speed tape
that jetbridge must be awfully important.....
just one prob pilot does go around check to see if the aircraft is in shape of flying but nice video
Yes that he does. That do a walk around after the plane arives and everyone is off the plane, and again before the boarding starts again
In most ground service the crew does the final walk around check just before the push
Most crews do their walk around while your loading the A/C! And walk around policies might be different ?

Always report everything Never just assume everything will be okay
If you report the damage does that mean you loose your job???
No. If you do it on purpose ofc but otherwise normaly not. And even if you loose it, its always better.

Trust me, they heard that up in the flight deck. But yeah, report everything
ATS Agent: What was that? 2nd Agent: Nothing? Newsflash: Engine failure and crash on Flight 312?
the end was so dark, is this part of the d.c. universe 😲.

Why would you have to turn up the belt first of all? In a hurry? Don't like the person in the bin? Poorly trained?

That's deep right there
I work for ATS and we don't operate that type of vehicle. The Delta Crew does, although it could be different in each state.
WOW, that is a incident that could be prevented. Take the responsibly and do the right thing. Life Matters
What was this haha, in a world where denting the engine cowling causes catastrophic engine failure that brings down a two engined aircraft
it goes to say, any sort of damage can be catastrophic.
AS A SAYING GOES " always be cautious around airplanes and think about your family being on that flight "
wow ok that took a turn
"GOSH" hahaha sounds like napolean dynamite vibes
Safey and Security in first place ever.
Bring ducktape like everytime. xD.
Phil acting a little sus 😂
captain failed too, He did not do final check (walk around), Dance with the Devil, that's how mom went on one way ticket, no return.
This damage was done after the Captain did it, pilots don't do walk around right at departure time.
David Nganga The airline Captain/First Officer always do walk arounds prior to passenger boarding, or currently boarding the passengers onto the flight, not when the flight is ready to pushback and start.
Yo trabajo en un aeropuerto y siempre uno tiene que reportar cualquier accidente no cómo el we c qedo callado
The Pilot should do the walkaround, not the ground crew
At our station both the pilots and ramp agents do an arrival andpre-departuree walk around.
Pilot does the walk around about 15-20 min before departure. Most times, the crew is still loading. The crew lead does the final walk around. I dont know what policy ats has for walkaround but the lead should be the one doing it, not the station attendant!

Don't think that damage would do that
javon holmes the idea is to report any damage whatsoever, not every ramper is a mechanical Sherlock Holmes like you
even a small scratch on the airplane is catastrophic and MAY potentially lead to unbearable consequences

In some airlines it's the pilot who does the walkaround, other airlines it's the ground crew if a mechanic is available.
That's what u get when you hire cheap third party labour. Non unionized. Thanks for flying Westjet...
Try Frontier.
Envoy as well
Delta global services just got bought out by the dude who let the security breach happen on 9/11 Argenbright Holdings
Ain't that the truth!!! ATS sucks!!
This was an act. You think that they would crash a plane on purpose?
No shit wtf do you think noooo this was on purpose
First of all, the engine is NEVER that close to the belt loader 🤣🤣. Driving the belt loader isn’t that difficult. And it’s very easy to steer.
This is just a demonstration and experiment no individuals were killed or injured it's all part of the plan showing what happens you don't do your work correctly
Depends on the aircraft!!!
Have you ever worked an A-319? Or even an A-320? Or an E-175. The belt loader comes very close to the engine when working on the FWD cargo hold.
