Still listening today. Ironically the words match to everything these days. And i just love the virtual spin effect of the group showing different emotions, as if they are trapped in the moment. Just too profound and beautiful the same time
No one quite captures pain and negative feelings like CHVRCHES. There's just something really intense about the combination of their lyrics, vocals, and instrumentals. When I'm in certain moods it feels like CHVRCHES is the only band that sounds like how I'm feeling.
Just...wow! As a teen of the eighties... listening to radio stations, television programmes, cable, etc literally CLING to the music of that era...even through grunge, and other assorted genres... Seeing this European synth wave return... It defines something. Describes something. Something about the human experience... Broody, moody, mellow, minor, hidden, beautiful... Cheers Scotland, from one Taff to the Isle of Chucks!
I need something special for today...the pure energy. One of my dearly beloved...this is my CHVRCH :) Scottish electronic band formed in 2011. And the voice of Lauren so clear and innocent...vulnerable and fragile yet strong and forceful.
Saw them last night in Dallas and I have to say, their live performance is better than any recording. They're talent is so beautiful. And they wield it perfectly
I love the dark, industrial feel of this video. It goes together really well with the heavy synth and simple/slow, mechanical drum line. Overall incredible song and video.
this song reminds me my husband who passed away about two years ago after we had a happy and beautiful wedding of three years. He used to love these beat and especially this song. nowadays i listen to it everyday when i go to bed and live for a moment what we have lived together and what we could have lived together
I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you will find happiness, and let me tell you that he will live by your side as long as you remember all your moments with him. May he rest in peace.
I usually don't listen to electronic music, but they do it well the way they work all their sounds any their lyrical format to this particular song. They are f'kin tight .. this reminds me of the 80's era stuff but with totally newer sounds! That's it .. they got it right! Good stuff peeps!
I first knew Chvrches because Muse covered Lies on BBC Live Lounge. Fell in love with this song instantly. Their other song I love is Violent Delights. It's really good.
I love the musical flow of the chorus. For some reason it reminds me of a summer moonlit night in the country with cicadas sounding off among a lone line of trees swaying gently with the wind.
Its the first time I've seen the music video for the song and I've got say this one is the best imo. Super stylish. The shots of their three silhouettes are with bits of lighting are cool af.
Every time I listen to this song, i just get pure euphoria, each time i play it it feels like ive never herd it before! This song has to be my all time favorite!! this band is magical!! I really cant get enough of their music!!... Pure Talent!! Even the words describe my teenage years, "I'll say what you want to hear"... Brilliant!! Cant get enough!! x
Holy SHIT. I didn't realize this until now: I discovered this song, and CHVRCHES in general, around 2-3 years ago through VH1, or some other music channel. The sick beat and Lauren's amazing vocals got me hooked instantly, and I've been a huge fan of CHVRCHES ever since. Crazy how time flies by...
This song is amazing and one of my favorites! I like the sound effects! Her voice, and all ingenious group members, bring a fresh and transcendental sound, and lyrics that have something magical that captures the attention! A synth-pop and electronic sound mix capture the magic of her interpretation style together with extraordinary videos full of mysticism making them an avant-garde group of this era!!
I used to be addicted to this song back in 2014 when the world cup was happening here in Brazil and now, it brings me so much good memories and nostalgia when I listen again :')❤ I love chvrches so muchhh
Honestly such a top band. Lauren has such a Liam Gallagher presence that I feel. All she has to do is just stand there without moving, and sing with that incredible voice against the amazing music that is Chvrches...and of course she's so badass while just standing there haha. But the rest of the band deserves serious credit, every piece really comes together in Chvrches to make very mesmerizing music. can't wait for their new album!!!! I'm already loving the singles "dead air" and "get away"
Saw them live in Seoul two days ago. It was, apparently, the last show they are going to do in a while (Lauren said they were going to go rest for a while and start work on a second album since they've been touring non-stop for two years almost). They are absolutely incredible live. Great stage presence, crisp sound. Overall, an amazing experience. Well worth seeing live.
I have finally found the song that I have been looking for for about six months after hearing a bit of it. Fantastic! I'm really not a fan of any pop or dance but I love this song. I like fast paced progressive rock/metal but there is something about this song that strikes a chord with me. I listened to some other songs from this band and I didn't really enjoy them so I guess it's just a complete coincidence that I like this so much
Finally found out who sings this song, heard it on the radio where I work. Immediately hooked by that chorus which made me think of the "80s sound", a little Gary Numan-esque, a little Goldfrapp, a tiny bit of Kraftwerk. Love this track and now I will take a listen to more by this band. :-)
Agree to this Ryokanfan, Numan, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and also Alphaville. I can easily see them do a cover of 'Big In Japan'', it would perfectly fit the mood and atmosphere of Chvrches.
Ahh yes Depeche Mode also, but their later stuff. Funny even though it clearly has roots in that early 80s sound, it is still very modern and current. The synths very much remind me of early Numan. A masterpiece of a song. :-)
It’s already been about a decade since I heard this on Soccer AM and ran to RUclips to listen to the whole song. I’d love to have been in the studio when this masterpiece was being created.
Can't stop listening to this and only this album. And when I am not listening to it, I can't get the songs out of my head. The sickness has spread to my wife as well. Thing is, unlike other obsessions, I can never see getting tired of it or resenting its hold on me. I surrender Chvrches. That being said this video is nowhere near as satisfying as the live performance version.
1000% agree. I have listened to this album more than anything else in my life. saw them live for this album in Cleveland House of Blues. It's quite simply the best album ever made imho
The tourist remix of this song has become my obsession. Listening to this, original version I feel nothing, but that remix makes me feel endlessly. It's "everything". Fantastic song, enigmatic lyrics, I feel I could never be quite worthy of truly understanding.
Proud of this song as I’m Scottish! And she sounds amazing, it’s great to sing a song my accent goes with haha! Gorgeous voice for a pretty Scottish lass 😘
I know everyone turns to Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, or Adele for their break up song about how awful "that one guy" was, but it never seems to compare with Chvrches. There's something subtly intense about them, more so then any of the others. Lauren Mayberry has this quiet inner rage that gets projected powerfully in this song, as well as some of her other work.
How the hell have missed this band !!! I never even heard of them until 2 weeks ago at Coldplay gig in Cardiff 🏴. I love them there sound is so fresh .
One of the most beautiful songs I've heard in my life, strong lyric, great sound, super engaging, I discovered Chvrches on RUclips recently, I'm a fan of the band and many of his songs, I have been touting for friends and acquaintances here. I'm from Feira de Santana, Brazil, greetings to everyone!
Love that catchy tune! Usually i like oldies.Adcd , barry white, everly brothers and so many others..but chvrches and vaults are currently favorites. What a mix,lol
Probably my most favorite song by CHVRCHES of all time.
My favorite too 😍
Agreed.
never say die one love
Agreed. Such an awesome sounds
It’s the best one

One of my dearly beloved...this is my CHVRCH :)
Scottish electronic band formed in 2011.
And the voice of Lauren so clear and innocent...vulnerable and fragile yet strong and forceful.
Slick. I bet these guys put on a good show in concert.
Didnt have the pleasure yet but I bet they do :)
Jana Slobodová I hope they tour over by me. I will definitely check them out.
A great description of her singing voice.
Saw them last night in Dallas and I have to say, their live performance is better than any recording. They're talent is so beautiful. And they wield it perfectly
Love that you tube has their concerts now.
I love the dark, industrial feel of this video. It goes together really well with the heavy synth and simple/slow, mechanical drum line. Overall incredible song and video.

I'm so sorry for your loss. He had amazing taste. I send you love and I hope you're taking good care of yourself. You're not on your own. Take care 🙂
I'm sorry for your loss. I hope you will find happiness, and let me tell you that he will live by your side as long as you remember all your moments with him. May he rest in peace.
This track with it's breakdowns is like a drug of some sort. Keep needing to hear it again and again.
I keep this song on repeat
2025 here calling out. Chvrches is still bangin.
I'm here for the sick beats and Lauren's vocals.
so, the whole song? :) so good though....
That's as good a reason as any to dial in to some Chvrches
For real this song would fit in a cyberpunk themed game or movie
Wouldn’t that be why you’re here for every Chvrches song?
I usually don't listen to electronic music, but they do it well the way they work all their sounds any their lyrical format to this particular song. They are f'kin tight .. this reminds me of the 80's era stuff but with totally newer sounds! That's it .. they got it right! Good stuff peeps!

Gracias, lo buscaré inmediatamente.
this is my first time i listen to Chvrches because of Muse, this could be my new favourite band.
Keep Muse first!
or you don't know what'll happen...
Welcome to loving an amazing band :)
Lauren is an exceptional singer with true passion, heart and charisma .she’s a rare breed.
I have listened to this about 80 times since seeing them live this week at Electric Picnic.
*pulls finger out and goes and buys album*
Melanie Murphy I wish I could see them live
Beautiful
😬
I up latee
🐱
2020 and i still obsessed with this! Great songs will never age!
THIS
2021 here!
Indeed, but the Scottish debut LIVE version is my go to.
How about 2021 and Screen Violence? And the Covers. As good as only ChVrches can be and growing up.
2022 ✌
I love the musical flow of the chorus. For some reason it reminds me of a summer moonlit night in the country with cicadas sounding off among a lone line of trees swaying gently with the wind.
2019 and still love this song
Its the first time I've seen the music video for the song and I've got say this one is the best imo. Super stylish. The shots of their three silhouettes are with bits of lighting are cool af.
is it just me or does matt just have this voice that's like filled with all emotions and doesn't sound boring or monotonouse?
i can't explain.
Brilliant!! Cant get enough!! x
chvrches is great with headphones
Yes they are 🎧
😌🎧🎶🎶
Got the buds in now :)
I can't go back
with JBL is OMG!!!!!!1111
What a song. One of my favs of chvrches and that's a hard choice to do. kudos
Best song of chvrches, in my opnion.
They have just recaptured something magical fro the 80's. Love it.
Love this!
9 years later, it's still their best song, but it is not for lack of trying.
Holy SHIT. I didn't realize this until now:
I discovered this song, and CHVRCHES in general, around 2-3 years ago through VH1, or some other music channel. The sick beat and Lauren's amazing vocals got me hooked instantly, and I've been a huge fan of CHVRCHES ever since.
Crazy how time flies by...
There's just something timeless about the lyrics/theme.... Every once in a while or maybe more often than that I check this song out....
Damn, this is good. Getting a proper 80's synthpop feel, like Ultravox and Gary Newman. Thank you, Muse, for introducing me to this!
Ikr! I feel the same, thanks Muse!!
+Aldino Eleazar Its pwoper 80's. Musers understand.
+BadgersLP thanks Muse too.
+BadgersLP That's Gary Numan, not Newman.
+Malek youve got a pwoblem
I haven't seen this cute of a singer since Hope Sandoval. I LOVE the synth in this song, reminds me of Gary Numan late 70s work.
This is their best single, even though it gets the least airplay in the US. Just freaking brilliant.
The synth-pop anthem of the 21st century so far. Lauren's voice is heavenly. Bonus points for being Scottish too...
Scots’ are awesome
Still one of my favorites
This song is amazing and one of my favorites! I like the sound effects! You know when you're getting compared to an oasis member that you've essentially become a legend
I recently got into their music videos, I now understand what you mean.
Luv this song. Shazam always saving lives.
Proof that there is still some good recent music out there.
I'm an old Hardcore man from the 90s now this covers my craving for EDM. Love it.
Saw them live in Seoul two days ago. They are absolutely incredible live. Great stage presence, crisp sound. Overall, an amazing experience. Well worth seeing live.
This is phenomenal. Like damn. I loved the production design and the 'big media' interpretation. Totally didn't see that before.
I have finally found the song that I have been looking for for about six months after hearing a bit of it. Fantastic! I'm really not a fan of any pop or dance but I love this song. I like fast paced progressive rock/metal but there is something about this song that strikes a chord with me. Check out Muse's cover of this. They rocked it up a bit.
Love their music
This was the first Chvrches song I heard, it was back when they only had two other songs released. I feel like I watched them grow.
I'm here for my excellent taste in music ;)
me too :p
Same also
+Tamara Longoria ME TOOO, HI FROM PERU TO ALL OF YOU WHO HEAR CHRVCHES!!! AND LIEEEESS
#wolfalice #stvincent
+Abraham Vicente lulz que casualidad, yo también soy de Perú:)
Same here had to run of till and Shazam it lol
how about depeche mode with female vocals?
Agree to this Ryokanfan, Numan, Depeche Mode, Kraftwerk and also Alphaville. I can easily see them do a cover of 'Big In Japan'', it would perfectly fit the mood and atmosphere of Chvrches.

The build-up to 2:45 That's magic.
Banging this out while cruising around the city on a motorcycle is life.
OMG this video is a masterpiece
subjective
It really is so well done, so many small details in perfect proportion and timing.
correction - this BAND is a masterpiece!!!
I had to listen to it today June '19....the urge. No control.. like gasping for air. Killer song. Still..for ever.
I'm still loving this song on 2020
The synth!! Awesome
got hooked on "the mother we share" and now i'm in love with chvrches
why aren't they more popular?
Cant stop listening to this song, Chvrches is my true relgion.
THIS SONG! Man, love it...
2021 listening !!!
is a great song..
80s synth pop style, amazing!!
It’s already been about a decade since I heard this on Soccer AM and ran to RUclips to listen to the whole song. I’d love to have been in the studio when this masterpiece was being created.
Still smashing it in 2021
One of the greatest bands of the second decade of the 21th century!
The lyrics of this song are very insightful, I love music based on feeling!
It's like going back to the 80s~90s
I love this
She's a talented musician as well as a highly educated woman. Looks and brains and talent! The full package
Thios is the first band that gives me those muse vibes but still makes it their own.
Its Frickin glorious.
I love how throughout the entire video, Iain's face is never illuminated. It keeps it so much more dark, mysterious, and intimidating.
I dream of a live Muse+Chvrches performance of Lies both bands together
Thank You MTV Push, sometimes but only sometimes you Push really good things.
Can't stop listening to this and only this album. And when I am not listening to it, I can't get the songs out of my head. The sickness has spread to my wife as well. Stunning.... simply brilliant...
Proud of this song as I’m Scottish! And she sounds amazing, it’s great to sing a song my accent goes with haha! Gorgeous voice for a pretty Scottish lass 😘
Me too can hear her Scottish accent.
This is amazing. It is my favorite song
Favourite Chvrches song
Martin and Iain are musical geniuses and then Lauren's stunning vocals make it a perfect mix
omg.. i've loved Chvrches for years.. ans only just heard this....what a tune
Epic synth stuff. Reminds me of 70s Bank's prog chord progressions.
Muse's cover is great. An amazing song covered by a phenomenal band
underrated amazing band
One of the best songs from Chvrches.
The scottish accent has never sounded better, what a voice ❤
I know everyone turns to Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, or Adele for their break up song about how awful "that one guy" was, but it never seems to compare with Chvrches. There's something subtly intense about them, more so then any of the others. Lauren Mayberry has this quiet inner rage that gets projected powerfully in this song, as well as some of her other work.
well said
Very well said!
Lol no, real ones then to Kanye and Frank Ocean for break-up songs.
I love it when you can hear the Scottish accent in her voice!
AMAZING SONG
How the hell have missed this band !!! I never even heard of them until 2 weeks ago at Coldplay gig in Cardiff 🏴. I love them there sound is so fresh .
my favourite band ever
Nice simple video. Very 80's -esque and the song is banging. I heard it live and it was still awesome. She has a great voice what a performer
Yeah same, I found them because of Mirror's Edge's new soundtrack
Paulo Brandão Greetings dear.
Warning Call has a very specific sound, though. A lot more poppy if I dare say so myself.
Yvi _W and Mother we share!
Ribeirão Preto aqui. Flw
A great cameo by the mother we share at the very end!
AH. You mean that big round thing?
I saw it too!
You have been my favourite band ever since I was 5 and now I am 11 hopefully you will make more
I think this may be may favourite music band... This is amazing music.. unique..

This song and this band are so choice.. I'm growing fonder by the day.
Love this song, wish they'd do more like this.
Same
Just brilliant. Best played very loud.
Muse never cover anything bad. Chvrches, you are very honored.
Woooh Muse brought me here too!
Love that catchy tune! Usually i like oldies.Adcd , barry white, everly brothers and so many others..but chvrches and vaults are currently favorites. What a mix,lol
Love the beat
