When he refers to white man as the problem, For reference It's not just black people who have been oppressed for thousands of years by the elites though.. Whites in feudal times were serfs on their lords land, working very hard every day of the week and treated terribly just to get enough food to eat and not allowed to leave the land of their lord... Many were brutalised etc and it took hundreds of years of civil disobedience and even civil wars in the UK etc to get poor people rights.. The empires were created by the elites too and they used hungry poor men from the lands they kept poor to conquer those lands but that does not make all white men evil.. The elites use/d and brutalise/d and exploit/ed us all and divide us to keep us conquered and used etc... Every time we start to get strong as humans they push us down and divide us with things like social division based on race conflict and stir up that conflict in communities and and wars (and the sale of poisons and murder etc into communities by the lure of quick wealth from drug sales etc to those who are poor)...
Best wishes to anyone trying to do good in this world

The man Garvey was a man ahead of his time. This speech sounds very appropriate for the time we are living in now. Amazing that Mr. Garvey could reason as he did. And he spoke with educated authority. It sounds as if Dr. King imitated the intonation and speech patterns of Marcus Garvey. How he could speak so boldly at a time of Reconstruction and Jim Crow, long before Malcolm X, is astounding to me.

The great Marcus Garvey was a gifted orator, visionary, and gifted with organizational skills ahead of his time. His speeches about black equality and empowerment frighten a nation where the concept was foreign and not well tolerated. His influence galvanized thousands of minorities/blacks seeking economic power, and this went against the status quo. He was indicted for a trumped-up charge of "mail fraud", served 2 years in prison. Deemed a "trouble-maker, he was soon banned and deported back to his native home, Jamaica.

Marcus Mossiah Garvey, reminded us of who we truly are. Never did a black man cover diverse topics that concerned our ancient and present day livity. He remains a force to be reckoned. He warned us not to forget the perils our forefathers experienced right from being whisked away from Africa shores to the great Americas and Europe. He quotes us a "sleeping giant", which is true. All African heads of state should ascribe to his principles and ideologies if we are to reach great heights as other nations and races. I like most his quote on religion. "Though late we be, we the Negroes (Africans) shall hence view God through the spectacles of Ethiopia..."
He is not only a pan africanist but also considered a founding prophet of Ras Tafari faith...
Long live Marcus John Baptist Garvey.

Iam proud extremely of my forefathers why wouldn't I be so . I will Never be made Ashamed to say so. In a time where they had to face great injustices I will always acknowledge them for their strength an moreover Ability to stand tall . To inspire those whom were down trodden. By disgusting racist behaviours of the time and To show in the face of such deplorable treatment That we As black people Can Make a change And are capable of being strong in Solidarity an Togetherness . I believe that This must Never be forgotten or otherwise overlooked as it is greatly important to Remember our Anstery . I believe that .

He did not fail. He inspired the Greats and continues to do so. Read the comments and give your honest opinion about the feedback. INSPIRED! ENCOURAGED!
We are supposed to continue the work of those who came before us and learn from their mistakes.
Remember, he did not have a predecessor. He built a worldwide organization (UNIA) with a membership of 6 million people without the Internet. He was neither a failure in life nor death.
