Tentative list of things that I probably messed up in some capacity:
+Lickilicky is gen 4, so high five on me messing that one up. (I knew Carnivine was 4, I was confused by them bringing it back with no additions)
+Gengar is poison type too!
+Didn't mention new Ultra Beasts in Ultra Sun/Moon
+Whales and snakes are dumb too
You also forgot the Ultra Beasts from Ultra Sun/Moon lol
@@Isopodre I left those ones out intentionally because I was trying to adhere to the idea of not mentioning pokemon from "enhanced editions" or stuff like Jirachi, Deoxys, Celebi, etc. But then I mention Giratina, so I guess I'm all over the place here lmao. To be fair, I never played Ultra Sun/Moon, but you're right that I didn't mention those
You should probably pin it so that less people comment.
@@troublemakers101green Oddly enough, it was pinned. Idk if it glitched out or something, but I guess I'm gonna repin it now?
@@TheSaltFactory I guess that makes sense, but then if Giratina is exclusive, the Rayquaza, Ho-Oh, and Lugia shouldn't count either. All 4 of these 'mons are either easier/faster to get in their own game, but also obtainable in their oposing games. The added Ultra Beasts aren't like Darkrai, Shaymin, Mew etc. The only thing that makes them exclusive is their own game and the progression system.
"How does something evolve to lose its legs?"
Snakes have left the chat.
Just so other people get the joke as well: some primitive snakes had legs
Ailith Twinning lmao
Yes yes snakes once had legs but the boys said i don’t need those no more. Pelvic bones are actually found in snakes, structures they never evolved to get rid of but also they never use them, kinda like our wisdom teeth
humans evolved to lose half their legs
Also whales... Once upon a time whales had legs o_0

"even bidoof mixes with water, for some reason". Huh, a Beaver is a water-type? Can't compreehend why.
Wut u mean beavers water??? (obviously I'm kidding, but yeah, this video doesn't seem terribly well thought out)
I'd argue that there's literally _nothing_ about Bidoof's design other than its real world species that says it's a water type. Look at Stunfisk. It's a fish, so therefore should it be water? No, no it shouldn't. Nothing about its design says water. But Bidoof? C'mon
Admiral Shepz just because it isn’t blue doesn’t mean it’s not allowed to be a water type
@@rep9544 Did I say that? A blue coloration certainly helps, but there are plenty of great water type designs that aren't blue, like Ludicolo. Ludicolo is green and yellow but is clearly a water type because of its lilypad design.
And now that I mention it, I very much see the hypocrisy of that statement. I suppose my problem lies more in the fact that Bidoof is _literally just a beaver_ -- which isn't bad, don't get me wrong -- but every other Pokemon that uses neutral colors and looks identical to their real world counterpart is almost _always_ pure normal, at least prior to gen IV.
@@LlamaLopez I get what you're saying... But Bidoof being water type is a non-issue...

Actual video: Why mono type pokemon are all dumb and bad
I played Uranium and I don't remember any monos in it and I hated it for that.
I am legit happy if 30 - 40% are monos.
@@darebrained Yeah, it makes the Pokemon world more believable. Not all animals are apex predators in the real world and therefore; to preserve a sense of reality, not all Pokemon should be dual type fighting machines.
True
And 90% of single evo pokemon

Cool

Double battles, tbh. In sunny weather, Cherrim's signature ability boosts its and its partner's attack and special defense.
And fire type weather ball is always nice

designs are not correspondent to how unique their type is
People should really split their videos with a pokemons design and a pokemons usefulness in battle or typing. Some pokemon are more useful in battles but that doesn't mean as a creature themselves they have no value. That's why the anime to me is so important because it can make you see something in a pokemon you didnt see in the games because they play different roles. For instance I'll never use the Regis in a game but I love them in the movie with lucario and mew as these abstract and intimidating robotic/alien creatures.
I think I just am not a fan of battling and how it makes some pokemon feel useless to people despite having a unique design and concept.
@@adamcampbell8544 i agree but the video was supposed to be abt design and calling MILOTIC meh because of its typing is an insult to society a bottle of spit poured into god's face
@@s5fetynet LMAO yeah I like Milotic as a pretty and feminine counterpart to Gyarados. It definitely has its place and is a great pokemon from a design standpoint. Yeah using typing as a way to criticize the designs of pokemon just ruined the vid
imo type is part of the design. you cant just attach any type to any mon and have it make sense, so its something to take into consideration. i agree a whole pokemons visual design shouldnt be knocked bc of it, but its necessary to consider typing with design. milotic is one of my favorites and i wish they would have popped a psychic or corresponding type with gyrados to further the parallel
"how does something evolve to lose it's legs"
Snakes, ceraceans, and sirenids: am I a joke to you?
Wait, you talk about designs, mention that Gen 6 has added the lowest amount of Pokemon, but you are not talking about the design of the Mega evolutions that even change the type sometimes, which is something you seem to value very high? Why?
I mean he also missed half of the legendaries added from Gen.4 onward.
@@MisterEcks He did play the games, because he made a over 2 hour long video criticizing their story afterwards
@@MisterEcks seems kind of hypocritical to claim he criticized something without playing it, yet you’re laying criticism on a video you haven’t even watched

I didn’t know second typing determines Pokémon design
Types in general do make part of a pokemon's design
@@DanielFerreira-ez8qd Yeah but typing doesn't determine if the design is good or not. If you have a design that is fit for one type, that doesn't make the design itself bad. Monotype or repetitive dual type may make a boring pokemon gameplay wise, but the design could still be good nevertheless.
design =/= explicitly visual design and absolutely nothing gameplay related whatsoever
@@wombat4191 It kind of does because for idiots like me that only play casually I kind of try and assume the type of pokemons based on their designs, I remember that's also how I did as a child. If the design doesn't fit the types it's bad design imo.
@@SteamPaladin It kind of is gameplay related tho, I remember I used to assume the pokemon types when meeting them the first time based on their design. Especially as a kid.
13:19 "Why is Chatot here?" Literally just to show off that the DS had a microphone feature. You could talk into the mic and give Chatot your own "cry". Which they removed in later games because ... well what do you think happens if you give a bunch of gamers a mic to talk into?
Good times… I remember shouting at the top of my lungs every time I used Chatot's move (I forgot the move's name)
Shady Cactus chatter
NI-
that is the best xD
I never knew this thing existed before seeing this video lol
my only problem with this is that you used _secondary typing_ to determine your opinion on several pokemon's _designs,_ when the two things are almost entirely irrelevant.
Maybe if he phrased it more like if the designs were intuitive in the way they represent the typing then a dual typing idea would be relevant but I agree. He said he'd talk about designs but goes ahead to talk about game mechanics and almost focus just on that. He also hates any non competition level Pokémon which is just silly. Filler Pokémon are necessary to bulk up and fill the world with more realistic Pokémon to make others feel more special. Personally I love the regional birds idea, bird species are incredibly diverse and I don't mind if they look like a irl bird
That and some dual types make them 4x weak to other types of moves, e.g. Ground/dragon being 4x weak to ice or bug/fighting being 4x weak to flying. In some cases being mono type is more advantageous
Take a shot every time he mentions dual typing or lack thereof
I'd die from alcohol poisoning
Yes because somehow bad design is determined by having a single or dual typing. Dumbass video tbh
patricio nick Yeah I know it’s a ridiculous statement I’m about to make but it almost seems like he’s looking at Pokémon... incorrectly? That’s how it feels to me at least. Aside from some good takes here and there, everything else he says is just way off or somehow misguided.
I'm not gonna participate as I dont wanna die in the next 5 secs

Let me summarise. Single type = Boo, Dual type = Much better.
perty364 basically. Even if it has good stats or design. XD
It's true though, isn't it? Single types are extremely lame in combat mechanics which are often determined by type. There's so many possible combinations and the mono typings are still by very, very far the most frequent. Why? They just reduce the depth of the battles.
Tyranteon Please tell me what other types a Pikachu can be or a Roggonrola, Lickytung, Duskull, Sawk and so on, there are just Pokémon in realistic sense shouldn't need/have a second type, combat yeah because Geodudes Ground rock type is really helping him.
@@Luxalpa You post says its comparing designs, not comparing how good they are in battle.
@Loptyr I'm saying its competitive viability is not part of its design. I wouldn't say adding a second type to a pokemon would take it from bad design to good design. You can't just give all Pokemon a second type because it will make it more useful, the typing has to fit with the lore so I personally wouldn't hold a pokemon's typing against it. Plus some Pokemon actually suffer by having a second type.
I was hoping for a video more focused on design ( like how the drawing looks following shape, originality, colour, the design tells something about their hability (wishiwashi), etc) than "it looks cool" or "its just a bad design bc its too similar/doesnt have dual typing".
I have yet to see a pokemon design rating video that’s actually based on design. It’s to be expected though since most people aren’t designers and won’t judge in the same way an artist/designer would
@@elizabethk8162 search for trueegreen7 videos
@@rafaelroriz6622 Thanks for the rec! I just looked him up and his videos look really promising :D
Exactly
@@elizabethk8162 Bit of a thread necro, but honestly i think your lack of enjoyment comes from assuming that design meant visual design instead of some mix of visual and gameplay design which is what the video actually contains. Its worth remembering that not everyone means exclusively av design when they use the word, even if that's what it means to you
18:40 Gengar ain’t pure ghost, it’s ghost/poison
You’re opinions mostly seems to fall under whether the Pokémon is unique enough or has a double typing. These aren’t invalid points but it feels like your opinion only sometimes is based on the actual visuals of a Pokémon.
Example: You seem to chalk up Milotic’s design to “meh” because its evolution mirrors Gyarados. However you don’t acknowledge Milotic’s actually design which I feel is visually gorgeous and is suppose to mirror Gyarados’s more masculine aggressive design.
Given you have a lot to cover in one video but I think smashing all of this into one video doesn’t leave room for further critique.
Yeah l really didn't like the reasons for his critiques quite honestly. It seems pretty low effort. At the end of the day it's opinion I guess.
Capt. Ham I think if he went through each generation in separate videos he’d have more detailed reasonings.
I also dislike the “hate for gen 4 I get it starly is another bird but staraptor is cool. Nothing about luxray nothing. Nothing about rotom nothing about spiritomb and lucario I know gen 4 has got a lot of shit as well. But still he did not even mention them
I clicked on this expecting some discussion on design proportions, colour palate, overarching themes, etc; not opinions and summaries.

“Comparing Generation 1-7 Type Combinations”
lol
"This design is fine but it should have been something besides just a water type" ... wait what
I've never been so confused...
"id rather have 50 new Pokemon i want to use then 150 that i only like a third of"
so... you'd rather have 50 Pokemon you like, over... 50 Pokemon you like and another 100 that other people, me, could like?
And the weird obsession with secondary typings... sure it can add to a design but it isn't a make or break kinda thing.
idk man, i fucking love gen 5, sure some of the designs are mega crap, Ducklett and Swanna are prime examples, but the good far out shadows the bad. I'll never understand why gen 5 always gets shat on so much when most designs are amazing and even the ones that aren't great are vast improvements on previous designs, looking at Roggenrola compared to Geodude, also Gigalith is fucking awesome looking. I've never heard anyone say they like the Tepig line, or say Tepig like you did. Complaining about Cofagrigus, a Pokemon with a strong concept and pretty good execution, and not Gengar, a "ghost", is also very confusing.
I'm not here to shit on your favourite Pokemon and i agree on many points but I'm just so sick of hearing people be mad about gen 5 designs.
"the first legendary Pokemon I liked since gen 3"... I am at a loss for words xD
Not only did gen 4 have some of the best new legendary Pokemon designs but the tao trio works remarkably well if you just look a little bit at the design inspiration and the, not to get too Rick and Morty 69420 IQ, in universe lore about the original dragon.
And i cant say this enough, MONOTYPE ISN'T BAD!!!

@@PikaPerfect it's not even ice cream
It's icicles with a layer of snow on top and provides the inspiration for the _creation of ice cream_ in the Pokemon world. I kind of love how it means they essentially modeled their food to look like a certain Pokemon

I can’t get over how milotic was disrespected for being a mono type.
I like Milotic, but tbh it kind of looks like a Dragonair that decided to wear a wig and play dress up. lol

@@hailburgerking9080 Honestly I preferred Megas to both Z-Moves and Dynamax. Yeah Z-Moves were pretty alright, but I felt like Dynamax had just become "the next gimmick". Yes it is probably way easier to develop and to design, but if all the time they spent making and designing Z-moves and G-Max's was allocated to making new Megas, I would've loved to see what they could do. Things like water / fairy or water / psychic Mega Milotic or even normal / dragon dunsparce. Megas were more complicated, but at the same time I think they felt more free and unique.
It should be water dragon tbh
Why? Mono water is pretty good
The samurott evolution line is my favorite of gen 5, but I always found it weird that it went back on all fours. Like, i thought it was supposed to be a samurai.
This was a good episode of if it doesn't have a secondary type it's not good enough
I see you have a big "two types better than one" bias going on.
Don't get me wrong, unique combination of typings are definitely cool to see (when executed well), but having a single type isn't exactly a death sentence either.
I would like to comment on more of the things you said, but that would be unwieldy on a single comment. But overall it's a mixed bag: you brought up good points, but also ones I just don't get.
Johanne Chevreuil I personally would love to see that “unwieldy” full comment
this
Johanne Chevreuil We would all like to see the unwieldy comment
Johanne Chevreuil Another critique I have is how he summarized whether a designs good based solely on the context around it and not if it’s good. Being unique is very important to a design but it’s not everything.
Like how he dismisses Seviper for being “an Ekans that doesn’t evolve” completely ignoring that they’re based on two very different snakes and that contrast between Seviper and Arbok is very drastic
BevelBoyJack Pokémon’s based around evolution and natural selection, so it only makes sense that similar animals would branch out to serve slightly different niches within their environment rather than just having Ekans and Arbok everywhere
The pikachu clones exist to represent some of the new main mechanics from every region:
Pichu - Pokemon breeding
Plusle and Minun - Double battles and abilities.
Pachirisu - Physical and Special category split (in the stats) and gender diferences.
Emolga - Tall grass encounters
Dedenne - Fairy type
Togedemaru - Totem Pokemon and Z- moves.
@AAAnt M Do you understand what some of means?
@AAAnt M
Category split was added in gen 4. Pachirisu was the first Pikachu clone that had higher physical attack instead of special attack (and it was one of the mascots for the gen 4 online battles). And I never said that tall grass encounters where gen 5 main mechanic. I specifically said some of them.
@AAAnt M Tall grass encounters (more specifically the ones with shaking grass) where one of the new features included in gen 5 and emolga as the pikachu clone was part of the encounters you can get from this new type of encounter.

It just felt like he just used the dual typing argument to justify his personal favorites or personal hated
@Emile Morel And yeah, its his opinion too
Emile Morel and people are allowed to disagree with opinions
@Emile Morel Hiding behind the "It's just my opinion" argument is a bullshit excuse. You don't get the right to project your opinions as facts without real arguments, especially since this is an "EvalUAtIoN". In the start of the video, he says he will just look over the designs, but then starts bitching about Cofagrigus being Pure Ghost. If we start using things outside just how the Pokemon looks, it is appealing because it's supposed to be a dead person, and it's a sarcophagus, while also being an interesting new idea, a Pokemon based on a tomb.
Either you make an objective video (Which this is supposed to be) and use real arguments to support your stance (Krabby isn't very different from a real Crab and it's design is boring, Kyurem and its forms are overly designed and tiring to look at), or you make an opinion based video and then start talking about your dislikings.
@@mcknightmareb4u494 seems you missed the part at the start of the vid where he says that it isn't objective and its just about what he PERSONALLY likes and dislikes. I actually really love gen 7. It was my first introduction to the series since I never really caught onto pokemon until then. I genuinely loved Its story and characters. I get why some people might dislike the game or the Alolan types, I just personally have a special place in my heart for it.
Same
it isnt my first game but its my most favourite i love the characters, pokemon and story in it
If it werent for the hand holding, I think they'd definitely be the best games
Gen 1: Lots of organic shapes. Very "textured" designs (Like the rocks on Gravler, Rhydon, Golem, etc). Lots of the Pokemon look like real animals with an extra detail or two (Persian is a cat with a gem. Golduk is... a duck with a gem. Bulbasaur is a frog with a plant.) Very 90's anime eyes (Lots of Pokemon had the same 'DBZ'-style eyes). The Pokemon that weren't just "animal + element", however, were completely alien looking. Electabuzz, Magmar, Mewtwo, Jigglypuff... They looked more like generic "monsters" than being based off of any one animal, if that makes sense.
Gen 2: Actually was confirmed a lot of Gen 2 'Mons were just scrapped Gen 1 designs. So a lot of them look like Gen 1, some even look more simple. Very few stripes, spikes, or added random details. Very simple coloring scheme, most Pokemon just having 2 or 3 colors. Lots of smooth textured Pokemon, but still some organic looking stuff in there. A lot more "animal + element"-style designs in Gen 2 compared to 'Mons that just look completely unlike anything else. Much brighter colors, though.
Gen 3: A noticeable shift away from organic shapes, but not entirely. Designs overall had more details on them, more stripes, spikes, dots, doo-dads, etc. Not necessarily bad. A lot of people claimed Gen 3 Pokemon "didn't look like Pokemon" when it came out. Probably due to the style shift. Very experimental designs. Lots of Pokemon with new and interesting eye variants. Very... exotic color choices, for some Pokemon. Others, mostly grey's and brown's. Overall a huge mixed bag.
Gen 4: Wildly different from anything before. Lots of the designs feel "plastic", lacking _any_ organic shapes or texture. Lots of the Pokemon were _covered_ head-to-toe in details, doo-dads, and patterns. Clear design shift away from making the Pokemon look like "natural" creatures, and more like unique characters (this would be confirmed years later as intentional). Lots of more edgy, more traditionally "cool" designs. Designs overall feel a little more "cluttered" than in previous generations, not necessarily bad, but definitely true.
Gen 5: A callback to Gen 1, which was intentional. Lots of more organic designs and textures, lots of unique eyes (I just care about this a lot for some reason, okay?) Much less "over-detailing" than in Gen 5, though on some Pokemon it's still there a bit. Designs seem more... focused, I guess? Like Gravler and Onix were just, "Rock monster", but Roggenrola's line feels like "Rock monster, but with a unique twist." Not as many designs that look like generic RPG enemies, I guess. Designs are MUCH more colorful and diverse in themes. Sort of a mixed bag like Gen 3, though.
Gen 6: Tons of unique designs. Not everyone liked them, but most of the designs from this Gen were definitely new ideas that haven't really been done before. A nice mix of organic designs and more "robotic/plastic-y" designs. Some insanely cool ideas, like a squid Pokemon that's upside down, or a Halloween-themed pumpkin ghost that's base evolution also resembles a black cat. Lots of hit-or-miss designs in terms of reception, but I think that's because so many of the designs were just... not what anyone was used to. And I think that's good for something, at least.
Gen 7: A return of mostly organic-looking Pokemon! And also some amazing Alolan forms, which to me felt more like "reworked" Gen 1 Pokemon, as opposed to alternate forms. Lots of patterning and extra details and an INCREDIBLY bright color scheme, but it all feels welcomed given the tropical setting. Definitely a strong focus on making each Pokemon feel unique, while also making them believable "creatures" that could exist naturally. Lots of inspiration from real animals and legends! Which means less 'Mons that just look like generic monsters, but that's okay too!
Gen 8: Definitely a mixed bag for some people. I think it may be in part to having to learn new technology, but a lot of the designs here felt _really_ plastic-y. Most of these Pokemon look like action figures, with very little detailing or texture-work done. Again, I think it's because they were designed _around_ the technology, not designed first, then added in later. More of a focus on making designs look "popular". Not exactly "cool", per say, but many of them are exaggerated tropes or heavily stylized based on, mainly, European culture. Lots of details on some of them, that many have described as looking like "stickers put on to an otherwise feature-less Pokemon", which I can see. I don't hate them, but they don't feel like any of the previous Gens' Pokemon.
"What evolves to lose legs?" Snakes used to have legs, and so did whales
"Its a turtle with artillery"... okay. What ISN'T cool about that. Turtle, cool. Guns, cool.
Giant* Turtle
Small turtles are lame
Hundred year old behemoth turtles are damn cool
Just give Blastoise the little wings on Wartortle's head, keep the cannons, and you have something amazing.
I like your logic.
Yeah like wtf, Charizard is just a dragon and he praised his design
Basically Avalugg is an Iceburg Turtle thing, Torterra is the cool one. Gonna name drop mah BOI Drednaw, that weird Portal Turtle that is Water/Fire(I forgot his name) and finally Torkoal. Basically if there are more, feel free to add and yes turtles kinda suck in Pokemon.

I think the thing with older Pokémon designs is that they have this sort of classic simplicity. The newer ones seem like they’re too simple AND trying too hard a lot of the time. Like they have heaps of spikes or patterns all over, but they also have completely smooth limbs and giant cartoony eyes. It’s weird. I don’t mind the newer ones but I just feel like they aren’t as timeless.
I’d say the newer Pokémon are too busy. ESPECIALLY the legendaries. It’s getting ridiculous. Almost none of the new Pokémon have any chance of being iconic due to their design.
Newer designs are more complex and have a lot more backstory and reasoning for their designs than older gen’s, something like the Gen 5 legendaries have like 15 minutes videos explaining them compared to the Gen 1 birds where they’re just elemental birds

Why the obsession with the Second Typing?
Also when you mention a fetus being surprising, clearly you haven’t looked at Mew or MewTwo. They are both literally Fetuses.
Because single typing is extremely boring for combats. This game has so many possible types, the combat mechanics would be actually interesting if not every other pokemon had single type. If you compare mono typings with dual typings, you get a difference of factor 10~50 which is just gigantic and extremely imbalanced. Due to there being so few pokemon with second type the depth of pokemon combat is being heavily reduced.
@@Luxalpa Not every pokemon needs two types.
Tyranteon and just because they make battles more interesting doesn’t mean they improve a Pokémon’s design, having the dual types feature improves the games design.

Just having more types doesn’t make a Pokémon well designed. For example you overlooked Cofagrigus because he’s not part rock when it’s simply a fascinating Pokémon in concept alone.
In my opinion, a Pokémon is well designed when you can tell me the name and show me a picture of it and I can imagine how it would act if it existed in the real world. Were you to outline your criteria for well designed Pokémon in the very beginning I’m sure people would be less annoyed at you.

There is an apparent bias towards Dual Typings in this video, which would be fine if you explained WHY you love dual typings so much.
I don't understand why pokemon based on similar animals/groups of animals are bad, why is tailow bad because pidgey exists? I see you are quite fixated on typings, but they DON'T have to be different types to be unique. In the case of seviper, it is far stronger than an ekans, and has a different design which I love. Everyone has their preferences, but you need to explain your preference for me to understand the points you propose.
The way you throw pokemon in categories of "This! This pokemon did it first!" reminds me of IGN branding every game "The Dark souls of X", just because they share a quality does not mean they can't be unique.

I was expecting something different all together. I came here with the assumption that this video would break down design theory, observe and analyze designs, give general patterns and themes found through each gen and lead an unbiased, professional walkthrough of pokémon design.
After watching the video, it left me with basically nothing.
In my opinion the video should be retitled to "My opinion on certain Pokémon from each gen". Here's why; The entire video discussed a biased and opinionated view on Pokémon as a whole. It didn't simply cover design like the title suggested. It also brought up typings, pokédex entries and stats which aren't necessary for this format where we are discussing DESIGNS. Those other factors are cheap ways to prove your points. "I don't like how the gen 2 starters have single typings". You said this in a way where it degraded the pokémon but didn't mention the design. I didn't want to here your complaining, I wanted to hear a discussion about Pokémon designs.
Now I will give credit where credit is due. I enjoyed how you mentioned simplicity in design, excessive features in designs and originality. Those are all key factors when it comes to creating a pokemon. Also the video had great editing and a genuine sense of humour. Over all, I got a good laugh out of the video but didn't leave with any sort of acquired knowledge.
Whether the objective of the video was to entertain of inform, It's partially my fault for entering the video expecting it to go a certain way with pre-conceptions. I will not give this video a like because it did a lot wrong, but I won't give it a dislike either because I can see the amount of effort put in to this video and that by itself deserves recognition.
Have a good day.
This is the most articulate and reflected thing I've seen in the YT comments in a while. And it's on a pokemon video.
Agreed br
Thought I was the only one. Glad I ain't.
It really depends on how you define design in regards to video game character design. In many interpretations those things you mentioned would definitely factor into the holistic idea of design.
Feel like you set yourself up for disappointment by taking the narrow view of design as being purely visual aesthetic, when it's really not.
You care way too much, my dude
One thing about gen 1 Pokémon designs is that they had limitations on what creatures they could create and express clearly through sprites. Without color, I’m sure some of gamefreaks scrapped Pokémon concepts were because they couldn’t design sprites that were clear as to what the person was looking at. And the anime came after the games, so they couldn’t rely on that.
Jesus christ that whole Gardevoir bit had me in stitches, thank you.
