    Recently switched to this shaft in the S version - can't say enough how much I love the way the TI 120 feels - such a great shaft. Found it feels more "compact" like Shawn says here in the fitting but still feels "familiar" to someone like me that just played DG for years by "default" - great stuff.

    I tried this shaft and tons of others, including two different project x , regular dynamic gold, KBS, and others. This shaft consistently went straight and the distance it was supposed to go. By far the best shaft I tried.

    Just got fitted for the 120 x100's and I was amazed at the dispersion vs my old shafts/other contenders. Incredible what a shaft fitting can do.. Misses were so much better.

    • @BShawPresents
      @BShawPresents Год назад

      @MD I started hitting the ball right to left a bit more (right handed) after switching from the project x lz 6.5's. I used to miss to the right more often than not. I think going to the stiffer shaft helped that but I honestly don't know enough to help- just my personal experience. I also got lucky enough to hit them on grass (after the simulator inside) which made me confident to make the switch. Sucks to have to pay for the fitting but was worth it. They're solid man, good luck tinkering haha!

    Just got fitted for these bad boys, let me tell you what a difference. The dispersion was so much better, my typical miss was left and when I held off, I'd miss right occasionally. NOT with the DG 120 and the Mizuno 223. It lets me swing my swing and the shaft stays with me. The shots stayed more on target, I'm currently stuck at 3-5 and need to get over the hump. I think this might be the way to go.

    Not sure I will get an answer, but this video touches on where I am in right now. I'm 50 and I'm a 10 handicap who occasionally shoots in the high 70's. I've just started back playing after a 8 year hiatus, and have upgraded my blades to Mizuno 919T irons and Titleist SM7 wedges. I love my SM7 wedges, 50, 56, and 62 outfitted with Tour Issue S400 wedge shafts, but I'm not quite satisfied with my Dynamic Gold 120 S300's in my iron shafts. I feel like the draw in my irons are too pronounced, causing me to start to change face angle or line.... wondering if the Tour Issue X100 might be the choice for me?

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  5 лет назад

      Hi Mike; the only reason why you would change is that if the shafts feel sloppy; I am waiting on my blueprints with the shafts you have and feel they are doing the job during the fitting; It’s funny how I have always been recommended an X-stiff and every time I got them installed they felt like I had to work at my swing to get them loaded. Observe the strain level in your swing instead; on a scale of 1-10 your effort should be 3 and the velocity produced by this should get you a 7/10 in velocity.

    I was wondering if Shawn could do an update on that series and if he worked on his in to out numbers or if it was just that day it was so consistently over 10°. Because I feel it was the main reason Shawn got the occasional block to the right and also why the dynamic lie angle changed quite a bit. The attempts to fade the ball were almost the best shots on both videos. Hence my question about the path

    • @golflessons

    Like you had, Shawn, I've been playing (still am) w/ DG S300 shafts. Debating whether to buy new shafts (not cheap, even if I put them on) for my TA 845s or used clubs with that shaft on them? Presumably you've been using them for a couple of years now -- do you notice a big difference? The 120s are 10 grams lighter. I'd prefer a slightly head-heavy program. I could buy lighter grips to compensate some. What grips are you using? I'd imagine you kept the same heads (blueprints). Getting fitted like you did makes sense, but not everyone is close to a fitter like Ian. ):

      Shawn is very particular about the way the shaft 'feels'. When dealing with better players is never normally a wise move to make a change the will adversely affect the players timing. Shawn loves the 'sledge hammer feel' that he gets from TT DG.

    • @ianfraser3194
      @ianfraser3194 6 лет назад +1

      X100 is a little heavier and much softer in the butt section. Good for players with smooth tempo and transition. PX is 5 grams lighter and has a much stiff butt section. In most players hands PX plays stiff than DG.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  6 лет назад

      Don’t let those numbers scare you; you can hit as big or as low a draw as you want; as long as you don’t compromise your anatomy in the process; love curving the ball! Your body is built to curve like in ping pong, tennis, baseball etc...never try to hit straight!

    • @robgom777
      @robgom777 6 лет назад

      Shawn Clement oh for sure for sure. I meant during the fitting process. When you purposely put more curvature on a ball (fade,draw) during fitting, your less likely to find the tendencies you ultimately want to minimize.

  • @SaintKimbo
    @SaintKimbo 6 лет назад

    The problem is that it is easy to fit a high level amateur like Shawn, because he has a consistent swing.
    What happens when your average hack gets on this device and hits his normal all over the place shots?

    • @SUArmy12
      @SUArmy12 6 лет назад

      Saint Kimbo very likely become less “all over the place”, but certainly relative to your ability. You might then get more enjoyment out of the game, practice more and maybe get better. Every golfer, regardless of ability, will benefit from a fitting. PERIOD. Your results might not resemble Shawn’s, but when you have the right tool for the job, things tend to go smoother. And in 5 years, you’ll probably benefit from another fitting... your golf swing is in near constant evolution.

    • @SaintKimbo
      @SaintKimbo 6 лет назад

      I disagree, you don't seem to understand that the problem with club fitting is that, unless you are of very high ability, and have a consistent 'miss', as shown here with Shawns tendency to overhook, you are going to end up with clubs that simply cover up whatever issues you have.
      For example, if you get clubs that have a draw bias to ease your slice, how is that helping to get rid of your slice?
      Another example is Peter Finch's old man, they have given up on any technique improvements, admitted by Peter in the video, and have fitted him with clubs that simply minimise the impact of his technical flaws. Obviously, he's not going to get any better, but will probably enjoy himself more, but is that a good thing?
      ruclips.net/video/dovOURthqGo/видео.html

    • @DrMacCandless
      @DrMacCandless 6 лет назад

      That's an interesting point, but please don't refer to Shawn as "a high level amateur". I mean - come on.
      In any case, I dislike the constant references to "tour pros" as if they were another breed of human. There are many thousands of amateurs of the same ability and distance as tour pros, although perhaps not the same short game skills, it's just that they have dedicated their lives to something other than golf. The name Bobby Jones springs to mind.

      Well, the reason I refer to Shawn as a high level amateur, is because I think the term Golf Professional is a term that should be reserved for Players that play for money.
      It's an overused term that is unnecessary, 'Golf Pro's' that don't play for money are usually Instructors or golf course administrators of some type, I mean school Teachers don't call themselves "Teaching Professionals" do they? It's a little egotistical, that implies a connection to the very best Pro Golfers, In my opinion.
      I've never seen a course 'vlog' from Shawn, so I've got no idea how well scores.
      As far as fitting goes, I stand by my point, based on personal experience, I started about 20 years ago with a cheap second hand set of clubs and worked my way, albeit frustratingly slowly, down to a low single figure handicap and have quite a collection of clubs from blades to chunky 'game improvement' irons and can hit them all very well.
      Get fitted by all means but nothing will save bad technique and that should be the priority, especially for beginners and high handicappers, because, while a 'fitted' set of clubs may save you a couple of shots per round, but you'll still hit the wall.

      Well, I think we're going to end up like puppies chasing their tails here.
      I started off by saying that your point about club fitting possibly being a band-aid for less proficient players has some substance to it. So that's that.
      As to the term "professional golfer" being restricted to those that earn money by playing tournament golf, we're getting nowhere. Shawn gives us all his understanding and insights into the game from years of study, practice and teaching. He does so because that is more rewarding to him than attempting to make money by being a "professional golfer" in your definition.
      It is incongruous to suggest that evidence of his scoring on a golf course has any bearing on his ability as a golf instructor.
      And, finally, teachers at all levels are frequently referred to as teaching professionals.
