Glen, I think the Transpeed motors are all sensored brushless. But yes, they require a VERY expensive, very specific ESC to run them because the TBLE-02S (and 04S) will cut out due to no headroom for the current (02S is 60A; 04S is 65A). The whole Transpeed setup costs almost $500 from Tamiya USA! You can get a low turn Castle ESC and sensored brushless setup for about $150. That motor though sounds blisteringly quick! I wonder though just how long those brushes last given the high RPMs.
Hey Glynn, have been waiting to see this type setup in action! Especially with the Top-Force. Now you do have me wondering how it will handle with a much lighter and higher performing battery. As always cant wait to see the up coming GPS speed test video's covering all the vintage brushed motors. Great job!
That's a savage motor , your right about the pinion it could do with a few teeth less (it took a while to wind up ) . That said it's great for top speed car park runs . Really looking forward to see a lipo run .
@@kasparov9 From what I can tell he's doing a hybrid , the v10 he has built requires a gearbox which is going to take another 6-8 months to build so he's rigged up some electrical motors for now , but he's talking about leaving them on after the v10 is finished . Can you believe he has developed ,designed and built that thing in his workshop with a lathe! !!! I'm really looking forward to seeing it he is a magician. Glad you liked it matey .
Funny you mention lathe I'm after a small rc motor lathe to skim the comme on a motor that I think Ive burnt a bit a few days ago. Its relalatively new and I think Ive stuffed something after watching timing change on these video.😐
Are the tyres glued? Looks like there's a little lag on take-off. All I can think is those tyre pins are wearing down fast on that cement.. Need to get some dirt track.
Really like how you sorted your TF. Glad you put modern electronics in as this buggy deserves to be run often. Can't wait to get one. That motor is perfect with it. Ride height should be arms parallel to the ground when dropped from a foot high. Sweet video Glenn! Now run it with a lipo. 😃👊🤘🤘
Absolutely! Even with today's 550 based RTR's we can see, hear and feel a difference after eliminating the bullet connectors completely. My first "MOD" for every new car is to hardline the ESC straight into the motor!!
Just got this motor too, but it seems that it does not work with the speed controler that comes with Avante 2011, right? Which one are you using here, would it work on Avante too? Im a bit new to all this, and learning! Thank you for a great channel, keep up the good work! :-)
Do you skim your motors, I use to run these motors back in the day and would run a 16tooth indoors on carpet and maybe a tooth or two more outside on tarmac. if you get them this hot they burn the coms and brushes and never rev properly again... I always run my motors in on half voltage for a few mins to polish the com and get the brushes to have good area contact to avoid spike damage they also last longer between tunes... I also file the front and rear edge off the face of the brush less over lap means more revs
TAMIYA Legends I would love to tune and set up a couple of motor for you I’ve still got a few sets of unused soft brushes. Let me know if you’re interested would only cost you the postage
I put that motor in a blackfoot extreme with brushless sc and 2s lipo but it kept on flipping over and blowing its tyres off (even after glueing them on).........but it was soooo much fun😄👍
STEVO D 313 It’s a Hell of a Brushed Motor Steve, as you said on a Nimh it goes well, got a Hotter competition Brushed Motor coming that I’ll stick a Lipo on, that should be interesting 😬😬😬

Great video. So how quick is it compared to the Dynatech 02h with a 10 turn rotor? Now I need one of these! And I'm regretting not getting one when there were plenty around. If anyone has this nib I'll purchase it off you if you want to sell thanks. :)
kasparov9 Tbh they are about the same on the videos I did, but the super modified was running a 21t pinion, it would smoke the Dynatech 10t using the same 17t pinion 🚗💨💨

Lot's of acceleration! Nice! Such a cool brushed motor.
... and yeah, dropping down in pinion would make it ridiculous accelerating :-)
Great looking buggy. Tamiya always created the best looking rigs imo

The D twos and the D threes were the best for high power modified motors look him up
