I’ve been going with a higher turn motor and a bigger pinion on some of my older Tamiya 4wd vehicles. It made a huge improvement on run times. I used a 35T motor and big pinion on a TA01 Supra because it was draining the battery too fast with the stock motor 27T motor. It takes off quickly and keeps going for a long time unlike the lower turned motors that were draining my batteries.
Back in the late 80's and in the 1990's I was racing RC10 with a 14 turn double wind. Around 1993 I ran 4wd sedan with a 12 turn double wind. Motor rpm was an insane 42,000 rpm on the 12 turn.

I wouldn't of expected a big jump in power. Its a 21 turn vs a 19 turn. Id bet the Technigold with its higher tourque probably has similar RPM under a load.
Just wondering where you got the specs from? The Tamiya RC handbook from back in the days said something like 300Ncm, not 400 as you stated in the Video. This was one of the reasons why I did't go for it as an upgrade to my Technigold. However, the standard rotor - as well as the hop up 17T rotor worked like a charm - when you instead of the Technigold rotor inside the other Technigold surroundings...
Nice test and motors. A bit difficult to focus on the motors when there’s a green beauty running 😉 You should GPS test these. On video I can’t really see any difference.
I know this channel is mainly about Tamiya and Kyosho. But just for laughs try a Traxxas Stinger 20 turn motor. I use one in my Bandit for my friends backyard track and it gets the job done nicely. Its only $15 on eBay so it's a super cheap motor. Dynamite also sells a 15 turn 540 motor that's about $15 aswell which is pretty fast and has good torque.
There was a 17 turn Dynatech also. We used that for 1.12th on road racing and it was great. Brushes could only be used two or three races though but were easy to change. You could re file the brushes yourself which also worked fine. The Dynatech was almost as good as any of the super high end motors of the day.
You can hear in the tone of the motor, the Dynatech is faster for sure. There are just 2 turns less and 400 vs 430 in tq. Probably grear it down a tooth, to get the best out of the Dynatech. We allso need to remember, the Technigold in my opinion is a very competetive motor.
BigDuke6ixx Hi buddy, Yes I’m heading that way, the next Motor Video goes out tomorrow, then there’s two more motors videos, then I’ll be heading to the Brushless stuff 👊🏻
Subscribed to you recently. Love the videos. I like your motor comparison videos, they offer a realistic assesment of their true capabilities. I liked the memories bit at the end. I too often think back to how many weeks worth of paper round money would have gone in to such things. Ha,ha. Keep the videos coming.
Got a 12x2 lrp in my RJ speed dragster funny that motor twists the entire chassis on the stand 👹👹👹👹beastmode do you remember when tower hobbies monthly magazine had at least 4-5 full pages of brushed motors choices from all the manufacturer's golden age of rc🙂🙂🙂🙂
Michael Stewart Yeah I love the Brushed Motors 😍👊🏻 I’m publishing my Top Force running a Reedy KR 8x2 tomorrow, that’s the quickest motor I’ve seen so far 🚗💨💨
Mr19 I haven’t ran the Super stocks yet, but I’d imagine them to be very similar, although the Dynatech is 19t and the SS is 23t I think, the performance of the newer motor will be better 🤔
Zack TheBongRipper It was used yes, it’s funny that you messaged me this today, because I made another video today and how to strip and clean it, once i built it back up and set the timing it seemed a lot more responsive on the bench 🤔 So it’s going in my Terra Scorcher in the next week or so, I’m hoping that I get a better run out of it?
Mate this is still such a fun vid, Cheers from this Aussie in a strange land!

Dean Cory I think the F103 is the best Tamiya ever made

Did you switch to fresh batteries between the tests? Nickel batts drop so quick in voltage.

I think my ESC might of been at fault, I’ve got a new one now, so I’ll see how the Technigold goes in the BigWig with the new ESC 👊🏻
Great vid. Technigold on 8.4v is still king.

Try them on a 3S LiPo pack. 11.2 volts. Crazy fun!
Watching som Barclay gold 🤩
hi the motor can go even faster did u change the rotor?
Tamiya 53041 0017 Rotor for Dynatech 01R Motor is a upgrade for this motor
Better than RZ?
Was in many images with the Egress
Nice test, you should use GPS for these tests next time. Peace.

Neon CS Racer
Yeah the Technigold is definitely my favourite vintage motor 😍👊🏻
The esc will take a 8.4v 5000mah running on mine standard motor sings lol.
For Rep definitely not earth shattering. Wonder how it would do on 2s and 3s.
Aro800
Yeah I definitely need to run one again in Lipo 🤔
Thanks for watching buddy
hey mate i just bought the 17 turn rotor for mine any idea of 17t specs? cheers.
Seemed ok on 8.4 but honestly all three motors were disappointing compared to lower wind motors from other manufacturers

Thanks for watching buddy 👊🏻
May of asked this ?. Heard of a Hirobo, Top Gun 9017?
Rick Ahrens
No I haven’t I’ll have to google that one 🤓👊🏻
Any chance you could put these advanced brushed motors against a cheap Hobbyking brushless one?

try the dynatech 02 motor i had one in a monster beetle crazy fast i think its 14 turn nicest looking motor made by tamiya.

Hi buddy
If you checkout my other videos you’ll see I’ve also ran the Dynatech 02H 13t and then I ran it with the 10t Hop up rotor 🚗💨💨
thank you, can you recommend a resource for motor specs that includes torque and/or dyno graphs?

Have a look at Tamiya Base, excellent website 😎👊🏻

@@TAMIYALegends If the comm is cleaned or cut and the brushes new then you should see an improvement.
A Tamiya RZ is rated at 27,000 rpm stop living in the past. They were great at the time , now not so much
