      It depends how late in the cycle it is, if it’s in the current cycle year, it’s most likely a new phone, if you go into settings if you’re serial number starts with an M it is brand new if it starts with an N it is refurbished

    I think jerryrig video had a defect in the glass. Other videos showed the opposite outcome. I’m rocking my 15 pro max natural titanium caseless, and with AppleCare+. BUT if I were to need a repair I’ll be ordering their oem parts myself off of the self service website, being I repair devices for a living.

    Why oh why does apple STILL use glass on the back? IT always manages to break even when using a case. Why can't they use plastic that doesn't break? I tried to replace the back glass myself and it was a pita. And naturally I broke the camera light and damaged the charging coil. Few months later battery was bulging.

    So, Apple care is fine and dandy if you live near an Apple Store. I broke the back glass of my 13 Pro two months ago. They gave me three options. 1. Drive three hours to the nearest Apple location and pay the service fee. 2. Send the device out for 7 to 12 days and pay a $99 fee. 3. Pay $1400 holding fee and $99 fee for a replacement to be sent out.
    It’s only good if you do have the locations nearby.
    I decided to just buy a new phone

    • @GT83963
      @GT83963 9 месяцев назад +3

      I’ve used express replacement for my iPhone and I had a replacement shipped and to my door in about 24-48 hours. They sent me a trade in kit with it so I turned right around and shipped broken phone back and it was $99. Did you not want to use a CC to place a temp hold on your card until they got the replacement one back?

    • @juss_james
      @juss_james 8 месяцев назад +1

      Wow I never thought about it that way, I’m thankful to have an Apple Store near me honestly
      But if I were in your position I’ll just do option 3 or 2 (2 if that’s my last resort)

    • @EchanteDante
      @EchanteDante 8 месяцев назад +1

      Or a BestBuy with a Geek Squad which most Best Buy stores have these days.
      The Apple Store near me is always booked out and always has terrible time slots…and they sit there and watch all your photos load. If you’re like me you may have inappropriate or embarrassing photos and that can be an embarrassing process especially if someone came with you to the Apple Store.
      Where as Best Buy you can drop off your device and pick it up when it’s done. It’s pretty convenient.

  • @ButterPrata

    I never got Apple care plus before. Never needed it. If I break my phone then I’ll just get a new one. Offsets Apple care plus all these years. It’s crazy you have to pay a premium for Apple care plus and still pay on top of that for the repair. How often do you break your phone anyway unless you go caseless. Still have the first iPad Air and first macbook with the usb c port. Still working fine.

    Who cares about getting apple genuine parts if they were cheap enough to be broken in the first place? And oh… how convenient that you live near an apple store. You’ve clearly never had to deal with utilizing the express replacement service all just to have them say that the phone was discovered to be inoperable due to severe damage or unauthorized modifications, when all that happened was my back glass was cracked. They then charged me for the full $1,099 hold charge for the replacement device, even though the cracked device that I sent in had applecare+ coverage with theft and loss protection. Other than the cracked back glass, the phone was completely operational. Just goes to show they can get away with whatever they want. They know you have no way to prove them wrong and they know you’re not going to hear back from the FTC about any complaint you might have for years… if they get back to you about it at all.
