- United States Marshals Service National Training Academy is housed at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC), in Glynco, GA. Glynco is located near Brunswick, Georgia, midway between Savannah, Georgia and Jacksonville, Florida. The Assistant Director and Deputy Assistant Director of Training Division discuss the academy and the kind of recruit that is most successful.
This video has been publically released by USMS Office of Public Affairs.
I have a hiring interview this month. I have overcame all different types of obstacles in my life. This here will be my greatest accomplishment if I succeed.

I was in the hardware store one day and crappy old mini van rolled up. Six marshals pulled out so quickly and quietly I barely saw them. They instantly subdued a little vato standing 3ft away from and stuffed him in the van without incident. It was AWESOME!

I always wanted to be a US Marshal, I trained extensively physically. Unfortunately I developed generalized Anxiety disorder and began having panic attacks almost daily. Been fighting it for 3 years. Maybe one day
You need to do a therapy called “tapping”

@@Amir-mq4jy The CHP is very picky and you're going to deal with a lot of politically correct attitudes.
My absolute biggest advice is. MAKE SURE you are 1000% sold on becoming a LEO of any nature. If you have the slightest bit of doubt, overtime it will wash you out as your career progresses. This career is NOT for everyone. I heard a quote when I started out. “Everyone loves the idea of being a LEO but not actually doing the job of what is required of a LEO”
When I was at Glynco for my BOP training. I saw the USMS always in sync and jogging to different classes. I always wanted to be a USMS but after seeing that, i want to become one even more so.
Waiting on my background to come back for the BOP to get a start date. USMS is the goal for me as well. Good luck sir!

There are thousands of LEO applicants currently in the hiring pipeline, might be tough to get on with no LEO experience. Military exp only goes so far now that they don't have to consider preference points.
@@RD-nu8sg it’s not hard if you have military experience, especially as an officer. Army experience especially ranger school is much more leadership, mental, and physical than most law enforcement positions
The academy is really really hard. Hearts are broken when they find out they’re not going to the academy. Most don’t graduate cuz the trainers send them home if they think it’s too hard for you

@@keshonjames4711 Went through a sheriff's academy but your whole life revolves around the academy. If our not staying in shape, your doing bookwork, studying so you pass all the knowledge domains. Keeping your equipment, uniform and everything else clean, don't take anything personally, keep mentally strong, just putting it out there.
@@keshonjames4711 Showing up in shape is the biggest key to success. I went through a corrections academy and it was a cake walk for me because I over prepared. I was in the top 5 physically but most of my class was out of shape and struggled physically. Definitely dont take things personal the instructors have a way to make everyone feel like they are useless.
Got out of the marines in January, had a friend while I was in that was a US Marshal. I've been very interested in pursuing this career. How would USMC basic training compare to the US Marshal Service compare? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Boot camp and this aren’t very comparable. Boot camp is just a lot of yelling and screaming and moderate exercise/hazing/fuck fuck games.
Boot camp I would consider much easier as there are pretty much no pass/fail events. As long as you don’t quit you’re guaranteed to make it through.
At FLETC (federal law enforcement training course) there are numerous pass/fail events. Shoot/no shoot scenarios. Basic first aid/trauma rendering. Tests on federal laws, etc.
The physicality is much less important at the marshals course, but with the curriculum and pass/fail events I believe it to be more challenging.
Also, it depends on your MOS while you were in. Did you do a normal job or were you combat arms/combat support?

I’ve always wanted to be a U.S Marshal I graduated high school and didn’t pursue any college degree which was my worst mistake. Best of wishes to those whom graduate from the academy.
It’s not too late you don’t necessarily need a degree. Check out their website under requirements

@@L.C1993 it says clearly that you need 3 years “relevant” experience… with 1 year at basic government experience of GS-04 email or call your local recruiter maybe you get the shot

Almost impossible to get on. Best way is to get hired is through the federal prison system and then apply for the Marshalls.
Not necessarily true. Know several recent college graduates who were hired in the 2019 and 2020 announcements.
They do schedule B hiring, they actually hire more than you think. People just don't hear about it.
@@ASR84922 They're hiring, and came short for their last hiring phase in my area. You need to do the leg work and find your District in where you live/want to work on the website and email the recruiters and send your resume, they'll reply

What is their pft like? The fitness test u take during the hiring process
1.5 mile run, pushups, sit-ups, sit/reach. Times are determined by your age, shoot for the best not bare minimum.
I’ve been in the hiring process since Sep 2021 and still waiting.. I always see/hear that USMS has hiring issues and maybe one thing is how absurdly long the process is and how often they just ghost an applicant
My dad is a US marshal and he actually is one of the interviewers. Apparently they get a lot of underqualified people 🤷♂

PT can be in the morning or afternoon....run....a lot.....final run for the Marshal Mile is quite a few miles.....get to where you can do 1.5 miles in 10-11 minutes relatively easy. Start from there...

Learn TREATY LAW AND CONSTITUTIONAL LAW.. BOTH ARE IMPORTANT.. If u run into a Marshal like me don't think he is under the same laws as you.. We are Not. No. You don't even need a degree, work experience works.
Is the boot camp really 2 years straight?
Think you go to basic at glynco and then an additional marshals specific training
12 weeks of Criminal Investigator Training Program (CITP) and then Basic Deputy U.S. Marshal (BDUSM) is 8 weeks. Total 20 weeks at FLETC, Glynco, GA.
@@ASR84922 They don't send people through CITP anymore. It's a intergraded academy that is 19 1/2 weeks.

Think you need a 3.5 GPA
You don't need a degree but it makes you more competitive in hiring, since everyone applying pretty much has one. If you're not a vet and are only applying with law enforcement experience, having a degree would be in your favor. There are way too many applicants applying that are vets, with LE experience and a degree, in some cases multiple degrees. So you have to do the math, this is what was told to us at the info session I attended. Be well rounded as an applicant because this job is highly competitive and make sure your resume is up to par. They couldn't stress that enough.

Is there an age limit to enrollment?
37 for all federal agents. Federal officers are forced to retire at 57 so this way you can minimally receive a retirement pension after 20 years

@@justingrant3648 If you have a bachelors degree then you can just apply but if you don't have a degree then you must have 3 years of progressively responsible work experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level to for the minimum qualifications for the GL-05 grade level. It's even higher qualifications if you want to join at the GL-07 level.

consider applying for a civilian position. USMS has investigative analysts that provide support to the DUSMs, for example. You could potentially have an advantage in the hiring process if you qualify under Schedule A hiring authority

Exactly, unless you are a current task force officer you aren't getting on here. Military pref no longer has to be considered as they are schedule B, so they do alot of hiring from their task force of current local LEO's.
You got to understand KC the process before Covid and in between all Stopped. Went into the Information brief today and they said that everybody before 2021 is a No Go. Now they are starting a new phase of hiring post Covid.

Before I went to Division Headquarters I went to 1/9 Infantry Headquarters to make a Recon team for California. Stayed on base for 2 months had to get fully vaccinated. Before Ft Lewis Washington I was on the Amtrak train where I found out information about happens to rude passages. Before that a guy poured water in the Diesel tank where I was allowed to stay in my truck from state park camping manager pay for month at a time. Plus truck was parked and I walk to the Store. About the same distance was a Legal state Marijuana new store. I just did all the filters, oils, gear oils, transfer case fluid and transmission on my newer Duramax Diesel. Chevy dealers stuff didn't tell me the increments of a Diesel. Plus with new injectors set used a Army Emergency Relief loan, DPF Filter. Then a guy pours water in fuel tank because I didn't want to hangout. Saw him at O'REILLYs buying HEET because someone just did him and poured water his convertible VW Beetle gas tank.
