Back flow presenters prevent water from in the tubing from being sucked back into a water supply system if there is a negative pressure/suction situation. It is more important for a water supply from your house which is also your drinking water system. Yours likely leaked because gravity fed pressure from your tanks doesn't have enough pressure to close the internal system so it leaked from the release holes.
I greatly appreciate you sharing this video. Recently got some land to go off the grid and quit the rat race with and this will really help keep the garden watered while I’m 4 hours away. (Yes you inspired us to stop this non sense and homestead!) keep up the content you and your wife are very inspiring and motivating.
So interesting that you posted this today… I was thinking I really need to learn how to fix my irrigation system that is currently creating a nice mosquito breeding ground underneath my faucet. I think it may be that backflow valve you decided not to use… going to try pulling that off!
EXCELLENT!!! This may help me get back on track with food growing I started seeds in March. They were doing great and then we had the usual texas april storms. Some of my starts either died or blew away : ( Now no food growing I was hoping to be able to naturally start and grow them outdoors w/o assitance for optimal hardiness. This may raise eyebrows but I did this with the rest of my garden and its been thriving for 2 years now. Maybe its the seeds (Botantical Interest)? or the terracotta pots? The only 2 things I did differently to experiment 🤔🌱 guess want to implement hardiness like I have with other plants This year for our weathsr is different than last year too
I was just looking into this. Perfect timing. I feel like I am watering my raised beds twice a day most days with all the wind and heat that we have had here in Houston. I am excited to get something installed where my plants can get a good deep watering less often. Now I just need to figure out how to retrofit it with the lawn sprinklers that are installed in our backyard.
Oh that’s so awesome Kelli!!!! Thank you letting us know it was helpful. 😁😁 You can TOTALLY use your existing lawn irrigation system. Just need to tap off of one of your lines of PVC. Shouldn’t be too hard.
