That’s key change is the core of this song, because he put a happy key (major) inside of a sad key (minor). It’s deceitful what’s he is trying to show, pretending to be happy wile being sad.. amazing!! Ppl forget that jimin is a classical artist before he was a pop artist, so he has Chopin, Beethoven and all those classical musicians in his blood, and he was able to bring them forth in this masterpiece by starting with a sample of a Spanish guitarist name La vida Breve by Manuel de Falla, he gave us different musical eras from Baroque and Romantic, all that drama and tension from the early opera’s, the dinamic of the keys who are simple because of the repetition but gives us a never ending cycle making us feels stuck.. and that major note that many don’t understand why is there and why the repetition of it.. and not even that is a normal major.. Jimin had full participation in the writing and composition of this masterpiece. Each solo in the Wings album is related to the BU (bangtan Universe) aka the fictional storyline witch run threw MV and albums since "I need you", specially the short films. So the lyrics of Lie fits to the fictional character played by Jimin but it's also related to Jimin himself, the struggles he faced, and we can feel the authentic emotions and pain. The Wings album revolves around the concept of Hermann Hesse’s novel, ‘Demian: The Story of Emil Sinclair’s Youth’, a coming of age piece that uses myths and references to follow the journey of a young boy to self-realization. One of the key points of this book is the importance of accepting the “dualism”, the idea of two opposing forces (maybe good and bad or truth vs fake) that are both necessary in life. It was RM himself who stated when doing the vlive review of the Wings album, and discussed each members solo song, where he said that Jimin himself wrote the lyrics. Of course like all the other members with 5he exception of RM, after sending it to the producers, some of the lyrics were translated to English, so after Jimin initially did indeed write the very personally heartfelt p, emotional lyrics, others were involved in translation. Going by credits it’s also known that they have been found out to not always being totally accurate, which we’ve found out later on when members themselves talk about the songs. I also find it interesting how some are finding the need to add the other names credited here, but for other members, this is ever hardly mentioned, even including certain members in producing when that wasn’t even the case. But here indeed, at least even according to RM Jimin was indeed the one who wrote the lyrics I suggest anyone who doubts go to that vlive where RM introduces the newly released Wings album, like he does for other albums as well. Then talks about each song individually. If you have any doubts or disagreement, please take it up with RM. I personally respect and believe what RM says to be honest facts.😅☺️🥰

This is my favourite song by Jimin and I freaking love the key change. Jimin has stated over the years how much he admires Usher, so it must have killed him when he did SNTY with Jungkook😂. I my mind, Set Me Free Part 2 is the follow up to Lie. In Lie he talks about being caught in the lie of perfectionism. In both the dancers lift him up to free him but I feel in Lie he is not completely out of it. In Set Me Free, when he reemerges in the white it's an acknowledgment that he has freed himself form the internal and external criticism and is finally unabashedly himself. I love this so much! Especially, how the cords go from minor to major and back. Such excellent construction of the song to convey the real pull of self doubt. Also, he's a big usher fan. I'm sure his music was very much influenced by him. Army joked like crazy that Jimin must have been so jealous of JK for getting that remix on Standing Next To You.
Rewatch this. Notice how many times he’s not actually singing. You gonna call it out? Say you wish he didn’t rely on the backtrack so much? Or you gonna stand by him killing the performance? Changing the key of the song would ruin the point of the song. Part of the "lie" is using the minor chords where they do and using the major how they do. Making it all minor or all major defeats the part of the purpose of the song.

I my mind, Set Me Free Part 2 is the follow up to Lie. In Lie he talks about being caught in the lie of perfectionism. In both the dancers lift him up to free him but I feel in Lie he is not completely out of it. In Set Me Free, when he reemerges in the white it's an acknowledgment that he has freed himself form the internal and external criticism and is finally unabashedly himself. I love this so much! Especially, how the cords go from minor to major and back. Such excellent construction of the song to convey the real pull of self doubt. Also, he's a big usher fan. I'm sure his music was very much influenced by him. Army joked like crazy that Jimin must have been so jealous of JK for getting that remix on Standing Next To You.

Rewatch this. Notice how many times he’s not actually singing. You gonna call it out? Say you wish he didn’t rely on the backtrack so much? Or you gonna stand by him killing the performance? Changing the key of the song would ruin the point of the song. Part of the "lie" is using the minor chords where they do and using the major how they do. Making it all minor or all major defeats the part of the purpose of the song.
