It seriously breaks my soul that anyone would do this, that anyone would THINK of doing this. And there's no doubting that this kind of thing has to be planned, thousands of people don't just turn out their bulbs at a specific moment without planning. This has happened to a few groups in Kpop and is traumatizing enough that BTS portrayed one in their video for Bulletproof the Eternal. In xCeleste's (the queen of all armys!) hardships video she shows Twitter trends of "breakwingstour", "kickoutjhope" etc. Some say it's just specific fans saving their batteries for their specific artist but give me a break, being extra batteries! I don't get people's cruelty. 4- I'm glad you mentioned Kanye and Black Skinhead - I think THIS is probably the biggest thing that got them virulently hated back then, at least by underground hip-hop guys. I tried to dig as much as I was able about this and apparently, that radio interview (and keep in mind the idea of this interview was to celebrate BTS' one year anniversary!) where the jerkoff (rapper named B-Free) calls them girls for wearing makeup as idols, this interview was after that concept trailer thing (on the Kanye song, you saw a clip where they rip off their black shirts and are suddenly in white - by the way there are hilarious clips of a performance where JK and RM ripped too hard and ended up no zero shirt 🤣😍). The disgust was based on RM having re-recorded the song. They used the track, removed Kanye, and RM rapped it with exactly the same flow, if I remember right he did it in Korean. For the hip hop community this was outright blatant theft, you don't "steal" another rapper's flow. What those guys didn't know: BTS had spent an absolutely insane amount of energy on this comeback performance, it was a very big deal, they had been told there were no legal issues for them to use the song, but at the last second the **broadcasters** said they couldn't use the song, I'm assuming this is because they would have had to pay some sort of royalty to Kanye and weren't willing. It was too late at this point for BigHit to come up with an alternative which would have meant new choreo and all the rehearsals that come with that so they decided to redo the vocals, this way they could go ahead and use the song. Of course for the sake of the choreography the vocals had to match the original track so RM imitated Kanye. Apparently he knew and understood this wasn't a good move but there was just no choice anymore, there was too much invested in that performance, they couldn't not do it. Annnnnd... BACKLASH. I think it started with the hip hop crowd but this followed them for years considering "Plagiarism Boy Scouts" trended on Twitter on a few occasions, the suspicion stuck. I saw RM refer to it as his dark past. The good news is B-Free is currently in jail, or was. He even tried to apologize 6 years later, army told him to shove it. @cola5473 8/11/23 Fun facts: Jimin said that he most admired Taeyang and he influenced him to become a singer. Last year he got to do a collaboration with him called VIBE. Good video and there is a live performance too. Taeyang was one of SUGA's first guests on Suchwita. He is a solo artist now but was part of the k-pop group BigBang. They were one of the top groups but have since broken up. Also, Jungkook's life motto is one of the first tattoos that he got on his arm 4 or 5 years after he first said it.

Hi, I am back. Good reaction, ty. So glad u are continuing this series. Aneesa the creator of this docu series is an editor. It took her 4 yrs of research to create 20 plus chapters. Many army don't want this series to end. Aneesa has to do more research to tell the rest of BTS story. She sadly does not plan to do this anymore. She is now a full time editor at Disney. It's going to be a long break to get more after we catch up to the final chapters. Sigh. If she ever changes her mind and gives us the other 3 chapters she has on her computer. They were not able to promote as they needed in Korea. Their company was small and had no money to pay for promotions. Aneesa (the creator of The Rise of Bangtan) shared that she has been working on this series (her labor of love) for over 3 years! She is taking viewer on a journey step-by-step from BTS' perspective not looking back on their days but living through them (with them). She edits their content to allow BTS to speak their thoughts, through their experiences at the time because BTS has been documenting themselves since BEFORE their debut, so there is A LOT of material to edit down to tell their story! She also gives an overview of the KPop history for those who are not familiar with the industry. She uses clips from different video clips of other idols/ journalists interviews to try to give a broader perspective of the industry. Her skill as a professional video editor really shines through. Amazing work! I think many ARMY really like this series (besides it being extremely well made), she doesn't try to interpret what "she thinks" BTS is trying to say, she just shows the viewers exactly what they said and shared about what their thoughts were at the time. She is an "OG" KPop fan and BTS fan since pre-debut! She also shared that BTS has been the light in her darkness for many years now. (Cr: "FY" on yt) nafnaf said on 4/2/22 There's literally a word for "You worked hard" that Koreans say, "수고하셨습니다" (sugohaseupnida). It's a part of their culture. Mint said on 4/2/22 Yup. It’s kinda the equivalent “bon appetit” before a meal or telling someone “break a leg”. 열심히 하겠습니다 (I will work hard) as a greeting & 수고하셨습니다 (you worked hard) as the parting. A person might introduce themselves as “so and so from ___university, degree in x, I’ll work hard!” in everyday situations like new hire, or when you show up to volunteering, or even personal hobbies like meeting new members of your dance crew. Now i know that u know this, but this is for a lil background info and things to be notice in first two chapters for your wife to read & know 😊 I think it's important to notice the differences between BTS' worries and the other trainees worries. BTS' were worried about their own personal skills (not dancing well enough, song worries, etc), about not getting attention when they debut due to their small company, not having money, etc. While the other trainees seem to be living in fear of being cut from the company at any moment if they make one mistake, worrying about weight quotas, etc. BTS stayed until late hours because they WANTED to, while the other trainees HAD to. Obviously BTS had things they had to do too, they could've not made it to debut as Jimin almost did due to short training, but instead of using that as a fear to hold over them Bighit seemed to use it to encourage them to work harder and improve themselves. BTS were allowed to make mistakes without worrying they'd be thrown out of the company. I'm very glad that they all signed with Bighit, and that Bighit has caused a shift in the Kpop industry, lots of newer companies are giving their groups more freedom and treating them better due to BTS' success. These companies see that idols don't need to be punished and forced to do things in order to succeed, BTS are proof that freedom and happiness should be the most important thing. (Cr: "Shannon" on yt) Now plz understand this 1st episode shows two sides, one is typical k-pop system and how the labels/industry work, whereas subtle hints of BTS and bighit being contradictory different is shown, BTS is different from other K-pop groups and BigHit is different from other idol music companies. These first few episodes can be misleading because it makes you think BTS management follows these guidelines the other idol members from other companies are talking about, but BTS and BigHit don't do those things. Notice how when it is said idols don't have a lot of creative freedom, you see Namjoon and Yoongi writing lyrics, or when it says idols have phone bans or something, you see the BTS members on their phones, or how when idols say they aren't allowed to go outside the dorm, you see Yoongi walking around freely. It can be a confusing thing for new ARMY to make note of, but PLEASE notice these differences. It is vital to how BigHit runs differently, and therefore why BTS is so different from other idol groups from the very start. (Cr: "Kayla Kulik" on yt)

Another great reaction, Frankie. 💜 I believe their heights are 175 cm (Jimin/Suga) to 180 cm (RM). It makes me laugh that they (and ARMY) often talk about who's tall and short because all seven are within 2 inches! I think that's incredibly good luck for their stage visuals. All of them are taller than average for Korea and very similar in height. Compare them with KPop boy groups like Seventeen; the members range from 5'5" to 6'2".

Hey Frankie, just a heads up, the videos of bonus content start from chapter 3.

Early BTS MVs don't have CCs/Subtitles. Most S Korean groups do not have all the captions and translations that BTS does. It's because they have such a huge international following. Other groups have started doing that more in recent years because of BTS. For early videos, ARMY has uploaded versions of pretty much everything with captions. If you cannot find an official version of something with captions, there is bound to be an ARMY upload with them. I'm a Hobi bias, but I agree, V is the neo-soul/jazz/R&B King. He also loves old, big band jazz. Also, Irene is a knock out!

BTS has been No. 1 on IFPI Global Artist Chart in 2020 & 2021 (first artist to win for two consecutive years), No.2 on IFPI in 2018 & 2022, and also No.7 on IFPI in 2019. Even when our guys get nominated for the grannies, they are in Group/Duo category but even though they are they only actual group or duo and the others are collabs, we know they are being shut out purposely, despite being on the same level as Beyoncé and Swift with sales and concerts and people they collab with. And when “Permission to Dance” took No.1 on Billboard it was a baton touch from “Butter that was at No.1 at the time then the following week, “Butter” went back to No.1 😁 I found BTS just as they were beginning to promote the Map of the Soul:7 album in early 2020 just before the world shut down. Thanks to the pandemic I was able to go down the Bangtan rabbit hole. These young men are humble and so talented. For the haters, we say Karma is and ARMY, it is purple blooded, so those who speak or act to bring them down, the negative energy turns positive for BTS. Even while they are in the military now, they have been on the charts because the planned ahead, staggered when members entered the military (now they are starting to come back), when ARMY misses them or gets angry we stream songs and they chart even old songs to show support and love to the guys. We’ve been blessed to hear other facets of them during their solo projects but each one of them has said they can’t wait to be together again once the military service is over in June 2025. RM and Suga i believe,already were part of the rap scene. I think Suga already had a mixed tape out. ..before debuting. They had to train before debuting as BTS. 2 YEARS I BELIEVE.

The characters actually are professional players from different teams and regions (the most are koreans and chinese) they are representing the champions in the game with weapons/skills. V has the widest vocal range in K-pop and can reach the highest and lowest notes with ease.. and his voice can harmonizing with any member....The thing about Taehyung is he has beautiful vocals with a beautiful tone and a large versatile vocal range. He’s not afraid to sing unaccompanied, acoustically, without backtrack and completely raw.

As V grows up from here & gets more & more of his signature husky tone as BTS progresses, I often hear a touch of Michael McDonald too. Not because they sound identical, but because they both have that unique husky wouldtimbre in their voices that makes my ears tune-in in the same way. It was like instant recognition if you heard Michael McDonald in the background of some random song on the radio back in the day & my ears do the same thing when V sings.

There are 3 pranks that I know of that the managers/owner played on the members which I think were a bit mean. I think this docuseries covered them all but this JK birthday pranks was rough to watch only because JK was so upset from the scolding when he hadn’t don’t anything wrong in this instance. There’s ways of surprising someone without tearing hum down beforehand

Honestly, I love V but on this song I do not hear a difference in V and Jk at all. They sound almost identical. Now there are times there is a big difference, but not here. I’m thinking you thought V did the high note, because that’s when you said “that’s V”. I could be wrong, but that sounded like Jimin to me. I don’t really know what constitutes an R&B sound, but I have heard people say JK has a good R&B voices I’m thinking it was on songs he actually wrote and produced like “Still With You” and “My You”. I can’t say if it’s true or not because I really don’t know what an R&B sound is. He doesn’t sound like V n them, so I don’t know.

That “guy” who said he doesn’t like how Kpop is perceived as more corporate, with less artistic freedom than western music is a rapper named Tablo from the hip hop group Epik High. RM has an IQ of 148 which makes him a certified genius, but Tablo has an IQ of 162. He went to Stanford University and graduated in only 3 years with both his bachelor’s degree and his master’s degree. (In creative writing) after which he did what you would expect all people with a master’s from Stanford would do, and went back to Korea to start a rap group. Epik High raps about social, political, even religious issues and they were a huge inspiration to both Suga and RM when they started rapping as teenagers. Epik High still puts out new music and it always makes you think. You might disagree with Tablo’s opinion about the Korean music industry, but he’s made a career out of picking apart and exposing lies in Korean society with his music, so if he says it’s not then I’m inclined to believe it’s not.
