I was remiss in my duty to post about this product that I have been using for over a year now. I have the same exact one you do Derek & I absolutely love it. I've got a TON of games I have used or still need to get to in using this perfect tool and I know that all my counters will be consistently uniform and a pleasure to play with afterwards. Besides the aesthetic quality that this imparts on the counters, I know that a stray end won't catch on something & pull up the corner of a counter that will rip off some of the printed info from it. I've seen this happen over the years, especially with games that have been played a number of times where the corner bits have frayed the cardboard on the counter, so this method protects them as well as makes them look great! I've become a bit of a snob I must admit as when I now see folks playing or videoing games with unclipped counters, it's almost has the effect of chalk on a blackboard for me! Oh, one other benefit from using this great tool, my forearms & wrists have certainly been getting a good workout each time i use 'em & I start to feel like i'm Popeye after an hour or so. I recommend this product highly & thanks again for showcasing this great addition to our hobby!
Hi! I'm from Germany. After i saw your video, i was totally impressed about that tool. At the same evening i ordered it. I hope that it dont take too long to arrive here in Berlin. So then the clipping action can start.
All the way to Berlin! Hope they didn't kill you on the shipping cost, my friend! It really is a great tool. Exceeded my expectations. Happy clipping:)
I went with the 2mm non-deluxe clipper from OL and was really disappointed when despite my best efforts some of my counters got clipped wrong and damaged. Going to sell it and go with this one as it seems to prevent what happened to my counters.
I have the old 3mm version and it could be hit and miss, sometimes trimming off part of the sides of counters, specially with the 1/2 inch counters, which were the hardest to trim. I bought the new 2.5mm version (the one you show in the video) and it trims perfectly all the time, even the 1/2 inchers.
The 3mm cutter leaves edges really round. The 2.5 is a nice compromise, not excessively round but not too pointy, either. As to RSN, I hope to get Episode 2 out next weekend.
I hate to revive an old thread, but I am curious. Do you trim these just for looks or is there some other reason? I've only recently started playing chit type games so this is a new idea for me.
Hey Sean:) You can comment on any of my videos anytime. No "old thread" etiquette here. I clip for a few reasons: 1. Simple aesthetics. I like the way it looks. Nice, uniform and neat. 2. Dog ears on unclipped counters often snag with each other, especially on a cramped map with small hexes, or games with a higher counter density. It can be a pain in the a** when you go to move a counter and drag two more with it. 3. Especially with counters poorly die-cut or with cheaper quality stock, those fuzzy dog ears will delaminate much easier. Clipping those corners will actually extend the life of the counter and insure it stays usable and nice looking much longer. All that said...plenty of folks out there don't clip their counters. It's not a requirement. Clipping the counters has become part of my pre-game ritual. It's actually a bit zen for me to quietly clip counters, and peruse the rule book with a cold beer ;)
I somehow couldn't find one of these online on European websites (ebay and amazon included), so I ordered one yesterday from Oregon Laminations... now the hopefully-not-so-long waiting remains, till the package arrives in Frankfurt :P
SingleHandedWarfare Well, it took three weeks, but I just got my rounder and tested it. Seems to work just fine, exactly like you show in your video. Huzzah!
Howdy Hal! Don't hold your breath, bro. While sleeving the cards and clipping the counters, I discovered that my copy was shorted some cards. I'll probably hold off on reviewing it until I get things straightened out with DVG. Second straight DVG title with missing components. Frustrating :(
Too bad man, sorry to hear that.. I hope they straighten thing out for you. I know they just released the reprint of TAL, so hopefully they are still fresh with the game and access missing pieces for you pronto. Unfortunately I have heard, on a couple of occasions, that their customer service is lacking at times seeing as it's just a small operation. Good luck, and hope everything goes smooth. Now, to order that corner clipper....

Yup, the thing's a beast :) I've clipped many thousands of counters with it since this review and it's still as good as the day it was new.
Ordered. And yes, I did get strange looks from my colleagues when i told them I had spent 15 minutes watching someone clip counters on youtube :)
LOL! They'll never understand people like us, Gesine. Enjoy the clipper:)

Hey Jose:) The one in my video is actually the 2mm. Given my own personal preference, I'd recommend the 2.5mm.
How's Raid on St. N coming?

Can't wait:)
I'll be ready with the popcorn!
Just the review I needed to see on this counter clipper, thanks!!!
Can I ask what counters are? Do you think it would work well on something that is laminated?
Will this be able to round the corners on homemade PnP cards?

I'm sold, thanks for the review.
Glad you found it helpful, Ray. And welcome aboard:)
Thanks for the review; it was very helpful. I'm off to order one now...
What is the difference between a 2mm, 2.5mm, 3mm etc.?
Just more pronounced rounding the bigger you go.
Thanks
Been using nail clippers. Now I'll have to get one of those clippers!
Thanks for the vid!
Trust me...you'll never go back to nail clippers after using this thing:)
Had one for a year and a half now...
It's the best thing since sliced bread!
Props for the astra titanus missle counter you snuck in there. :)
***** Love that game ;) Supposed to be getting the "Gold Banner" treatment sometime in the near future.
Order this in light solely of your review... arrives today...
Enjoy:)
