I think you did well persevering with the bodysuit. I cannot imagine why anybody would want hooks and eyes to close one though! When you mentioned people not giving fully honest reviews I did think, have I got the videos for you... Hahaha, it was funny to get a mention after that. 😉
Haha yep hook and eye is an odd choice! Teresa, your videos are amazing, so well researched and clearly presented. It must be like a second job for you but it's so appreciated 👏 x
Hi Suzanne, thanks for watching. I forgot to add the photos so have put them in my community tab. If you're on instagram there are some on my account too x
Love your Nova Coat, looks really professional. The cuffs are a great idea. Loving the body suit and may consider buying it ( I don't buy many patterns, try to use what I have ) . Loving your channel 😆xx Debbie x
Thanks Debbie, that's really kind of you. You might be able to draft your own version, I really like the neckline on the pattern though which is why I bought it x
I’m so glad you gave Erin a shout-out - she’s awesome and I love her channel! Your bodysuit is gorgeous on you. I totally agree with you about reviews. I think the issue is that 95% of the people who film or write reviews out there are also ambassadors or get a commission if people purchase the pattern with their link. Nothing wrong with that of course, but it’s taught me to also look for reviews from people who don’t really have any skin in the game. 😊 The coat is beautiful! 💞
That's great you watch her too, she's very talented. Perhaps people don't want to offend with honest reviews but it's helpful to get pointers from people who have made the pattern. It's been raining so much lately I've only got to wear the new coat once 😂
Gday. Lovely catching up with you here 😀I know right, I agree, there are a lot of misleading reviews out there & it is ok to write up about any difficulties, if people did that more often it would help considerably to those that might need either, extra hand holding, or know it is not them & the fault of instructions & or missing pieces ect 🙂Look forward to seeing your makes, happy sewing, thanku 'sew' much for sharing. Ana 🪡✂🧵🙂x
Your body suit might have given you some problems but it certainly looks like it was worth persevering because it looks very professional and suits you really well
I know what you mean about finding the reviews where people struggled rather than it going smoothly. I recently made the poppy cocoon dress by sewgirl from a recent magazine pattern inclusion and the instructions for the pockets confused me completely but I could not find any reviews or posts on this to help me. I resorted to getting my husband to read the instructions too to see what I missed. It was a photo of the steps that explained the process in the end but I just missed the connection between the instruction and photo! 😂
Sorry that you have had these challenges. I know how it goes. Just avoid trying to sew when you are tired, it is a sure fired way to mess up. Best of luck with the new fabric. Happy sewing to you.
I just had a look and Made for Mermaids have a RUclips video on this Henley bodysuit pattern that might help you with your placket issues. I can understand how you mixed up the stretch direction making your joggers as with 1.5metres the fabric was probably square so not so easy to determine at a glance top from sides. Good luck with the ponte pair!
Thank you so much for the shout out! You’re so kind and I love your videos so it’s quite the honor to be someone you suggest following 🤗 I appreciate the honest review of your bodysuit. I’m guilty of not reading ahead in pattern directions (or reading but not comprehending) and would have done the exact same with the stay stitching. To me 1/4” is 1/4”ish if it’s not an actual stitch line for something. The placket seems fiddly for sure. Also hook and eye tape seems an interesting suggestion for the closure… Your Nova coat is beautiful! The cuff is a great idea to help keep warmth in and I agree about having a loop to hang it on just in case. If it’s not there you end up doing the awkward “bunch the collar into the hook and hope it stays” thing, which never works for me. Thank you for the honest review and for sharing your projects! P.S. your daughter’s jumper is so cute and cozy! I’m sure she loves it
Thanks Erin, that's very kind of you. For me instructions can be read 3 times but don't mean much until I'm in the thick of it! My daughter loves her jumper and snuck it into her school bag today 😄 did your daughter enjoy her costume?
YES to honest. reviews, they are super helpful, and are so hard to find, reddit can be good if you have a specific pattern and search around. Great video, new subscriber.
Someone else also mentioned Karina and wow, her videos are fantastic! I've never come across her before and binge watched her videos. Such clear tutorials and it totally sorted out my placket confusion. Thanks for the suggestion 🌼
I can really relate to your experience with pattern reviews and sewing when I'm tired! At the beginning of my sewing journey I was blaming myself for not understanding instructions or not having a proper standard size. Now I simply know that there are probably some "commercial" reasons behind some extra positive reviews and that you can simple grade between sizes for ex. And some bloggers are definitely more honest than others....
Karina from Lifting Pins and needles just posted two hours ago a tutorial for a button placket similar to yours. I see that one of your viewers just recommended her as well.
Your Henley looks fine but it is good to hear your review - I made the Love Notions Henley but had to watch Karina on Lifting Pins and Needles to complete it (don’t think I could have done much of a good job without it). Having said that my first one turned out okay but also had some issues so no it is not just you as I have been sewing for a while and still have failures. By the way I really like the fabric you have used for the Henley.
Thank you for the suggestion to watch Karina's tutorial, loved it! She is so, so clear. That's interesting that you had issues too, what was it for you?
@@justletmesew I didn’t really have an issue, just wanted more guidance. Karina is such a good teacher, I check her tutorials before I sew anything. I especially like her tutorial on sewing a zipper fly.
@ErinSews!! I will be subscribing!!
Your coat is cute. I'd love to see it on you! Adorable makes!
Thanks, I put a few photos on my youtube channel as a post. There are also pics on my Instagram page @justletmesew thanks for watching 😊

Thank you for the video. I was very interested in the Nova coat. I wish that you had shown more of it and perhaps shown a picture wearing it.

I can so relate to being tired and not cutting fabric out correctly, 😂glad to know I'm not alone
It's funny how something just switches off when we're tired. I couldn't believe it when I realised what I'd done! 🙈
Yes definitely I have made lots of mistakes!!
😄 we're not the only ones!

Thank you for sharing your “ mess up” - we’ve all done it , sooner or later!!😭😭😭 Sew on!! 😍
It's all part of the process 😆

That's a good idea to get a second opinion on the instructions. Sewing is a 3D puzzle sometimes 😄

I really should avoid it but it's hard when it's some 'me time' 😄 Thanks for watching x

Hi, thanks I did look at the tutorial but didn't find it much help. Someone has suggested another tutorial which was great so will refer to that one 👍
When tired I now just stop. When I get back to my project things are so much easier and clearer
Very true! 😊

I recommend trying Karina at Lifting Pins and Needles for lots and lots of excellent sewing tutorials and tips if you haven’t discovered her.

Looks great. I have just finished the love notions Breckenridge Henley , looks very similar and nice easy to follow instructions.
Thanks, I'll take a look 👍
Cuffing is a great idea love that. Maybe you could make a belt if you have left over fabric and then you would feel snuggly ? X
A belt is a nice idea 😊
