I had been watching this sewing challenge for years but I don't participate because I only use my self drafted patterns and it's not accessible for everyone. I truly enjoy watching everybody's sewing plans tho.
That's so impressive that you use self-drafted patterns. If there was a tutorial you could point people towards I think that would be accessible. Thanks for watching
Hi, some lovely ideas for the challenge, thanks for joining us. I made the Tiana's closet Nomi blouse for last years challenge & am in the process of making the Lallie dress for this year - there's some really lovely patterns on there, love your blouse - it's similar to the Imby flowy blouse (also free).
Some great ideas! Loved your video! I made one Tiana’s closet pattern for my daughter last year -and experienced similar problem (printed all the sizes accidentally) and found it hard! But the designs are very cute. Thanks for the pointers to all these great patterns/ sone new ones for me xx
I’m going to download these patterns now! I’m glad you were able to make up the shirt prior to filming. It does feel similar to the McCall’s top, and I absolutely love that make of yours. Dying it would be a fun project. I’ve been thinking about trying avocado dying since Theresa from Lost my Thread made a video about it.
Great idea for a video, I have made the Paola as a linen jacket and in a flannel as a shirt and can say its a great pattern and you're right incredible that it is free. So impressed with how some on the vlogger tour are bringing originality considering the challenge is now 4 yrs old.
I love your top. I would do exactly the same on the front opening. I made the Paola jacket for the challenge a couple of years ago. It's a great pattern, wonderful instruction. I made mine from a lightweight embroidered denim. Definitely a favourite jacket. I've also made jeans from cutting up an old pair of jeans that fit, but were worn out. I added larger seam allowances and a bit more to the length. Unfortunately, during a sewing room clean out I lost my pattern. Thanks for sharing your outfits ideas.
Hi Jennette, what a great way to reuse a old jeans. I hope you manage to recreate the pattern one day. Thanks for the feedback on the Paola jacket, the lightweight fabric sounds perfect.
Thanks for the great inspo. I hadn't heard of Tiana's Closet before but I happened to watch @madewithrach latest video after yours and it's a sewalong of making the Isla blouse too. I'm definitely going to give this one a go for Spring/Summer!
Hi, thanks so much for watching. I watched Rachel's video later and I don't think she'd found the sewalong by Sewhappy which is really useful. It's a great pattern and comes together quickly.
Hi Tanya, it's great to see you. I subscribe to you and I'm glad that you're doing this. I just found out about it this year and made a video to join in! 😊
Really appreciated this video. I’ve seen that Tiana’s closet top and had always thought I would want to raise the front opening too. It’s so helpful to see how someone else has already done it, it looks great. Love the Closet Core tee, it’s my go to now. I’m also a fan of cloning ready to wear clothes, I did a class a couple of years ago but very easy to learn from the internet too. Thanks so much, really like your down to earth channel.
Hi, thank you so much for watching and I'm really pleased you found the video helpful. A class in cloning clothes sounds great, what did you make? It must have felt very rewarding.
Hi Karen Marie, how are you? How did you find the instructions for the ruched dress? The Isla puff sleeve is very quick and easy but I'd recommend Sewhappy's sewalong, I'm a visual learner and the written instructions were a bit sparse!
Hi!@@justletmesew The instructions were very sparse, and I actually had to ask a question in the Tiana's closet Facebook group. The front piece was said to be cut on the fold, but it is not actually possible to cut the entire front piece on the fold due to the shape of the piece. They got back to me quickly, and I was able to make it up. Lots of beautiful patterns, but you need some experience, I think.
Great suggestions. For the Tiana’s closet top did you make the size it suggested for your measurements on the chart? Also how many metres did you use, please?
Hi, I made up my size on the chart and it was spot on. Its a relaxed fit but it doesn't feel too big for me. I used one side of a single duvet, which included lengthening the sleeves by 7inches. I've just made another with the original sleeves and I'd say I used about 1.3m out of a standard width viscose. I hope that helps 😊
Great ideas, love the blouse you are wearing, thanks for sharing your modifications. I only heard of Tiana's Closet via SewFrugal last year. I have a Closet Core T-shirt cut out to make for the challenge, and hoping to also do a Declic top by Atelier Scammit as it uses very little fabric and I've a small piece of a lovely viscose. Happy Sewing
Great video, I absolutely love the blouse you're wearing, I've had that tiana's closet pattern on my to sew list for a while now, but never gotten around to it because I had printed it out without layering as well 😆I was thinking about making the small change to the neckline opening as well, but wasn't sure how it would look, so I'm glad I could see it on you!
Hi Bea, thanks for watching. Glad to know I'm not the only one that didn't layer, it was a real pain 😂 The neckline change was really easy to do and probably made it a bit quicker to sew which is a bonus!
I have wanted to sew Nomi blouse but the front slit has put me off. It never occurred to me to cut it on the fold 😅 thank you for the inspiration going to make mine
Hi Kristen, that's interesting. I heard someone say Mood patterns vary depending on the designer. What a win to find your favourite pattern and it's free!
Really interested to see your experience of the Tiana’s closet top. I hadn’t seen it before but Ive now seen it twice in a week! @sewithrach has also posted a video of her experience of sewing this in a couple of more flowy fabrics ruclips.net/video/V2hZ2-sm6IA/видео.html
Hi, thanks for watching. I guess we're thinking, or dreaming, of warmer weather sewing! Definitely check out sewhappy's sewalong, it's much clearer than the written instructions.
I really enjoyed your VLOG for today. The other day I found a youtube video by MadebyRach where she made the same Tiana Closet top you are wearing. I am not sure if that is the same sew along you mentioned or not, but in case it isn't I shared her video to her video where she makes 2 versions of the top. You both did a lovely job. ruclips.net/video/V2hZ2-sm6IA/видео.htmlsi=UEY0VNkwxVm4GH5c
Thanks Christi, so pleased you enjoyed it. I did see that vlog but I used Sew Happy, I think I forgot to add the link so will try to do that now. It's quite straightforward to make and I love how loose it is. Thanks for watching x

Thanks for the Tiana's Closet recommendation - your blouse is lovely! Xx
Thanks Sarah!
I love your ideas! Another cardigan idea might be the Harper cardigan from Sinclair patterns. I love that one.
yes, that would also be a good one to try. Thanks for watching, glad you liked the ideas.
Great ideas, thank you x love your white top, it’s really pretty x
Thanks so much and thank you for watching x
Thanks for a thoughtful and inspiring video. Its a great challenge and inspires us all to be more sustainable in our sewing 😄
Thanks Anne, I agree, it's a great challenge.
I have had my eye on that Tiana's closet top pattern for a while. It looks fab
You should go for it, it comes together really easily. The sewalong by sewhappy is really useful .
Thank you for giving some lovely ideas & I particularly like the blouse you have on & explained so well how you got on with it.👏👏👏
Hi Alison, thank you for your kind comments. I am really pleased, and surprised, with how well the blouse turned out after the bad start!
Hi. Your ideas are very good. I haven’t watched your channel before so thank you😊
Thanks Ruth and thank you for watching!

Thanks Christine, glad you enjoyed it
I love your top ❤

I enjoyed your take on the sew frugal.
Thank you, pleased you enjoyed it. Will you be taking part in the challenge?
What a wonderful lot of patterns you have found for us. I think your blouse and shirt pattern will be on my print list soon. Thank you.
Great, so pleased you like them. Enjoy sewing them up!
So many lovely ideas, I can't wait to see what you make up 🥰
Hi Ruth, thank you. It's going to be a busy month! Looking forward to seeing your makes too x
Fantastic ideas. I love your take on the subject.
I love drafting my own patterns. My go-to for ideas is Alisa from Thoughtful Creativity.
Hi Agata, thank you so much for watching. I will have a look at Thoughtful Creativity x
Love the changes you made to the Paloma. I immediately went and downloaded it. ❤
Great, enjoy sewing it up!

Hi Erin!! I saw the avocado dying vlog too, Theresa got some really pretty colours. I'd love to see how you get on with it x
I made the Tiana’s Closet top you are wearing and I’m already making #2. I love the pattern. It’s so easy to wear with jeans.
Hi, thanks so much for watching. It's a great little pattern, really versatile like you say. I've just made another version too! Happy sewing.

That's great to hear that you've made the Paola and like it. I really like sewfrugal as a challenge, it's a great mindset changer.
Great ideas and really pleased to find your vlog x
So pleased you enjoyed it, thank you very much for watching.

Love your ideas! I made the Front ruched dress by Tiana's closet for sewfrugal last year. I really want to try the blouse you are wearing now :)

Outfit 3 is my favourite do you have a photo of the indigo skirt? I've made a bias skirt by chikafrik patterns but the sizing was not good
Hi, thanks for watching. I couldn't find a photo of my indigo skirt unfortunately but it's a pretty standard bias cut skirt, just 2 pattern pieces.

Some nice pattern suggestions
Hi Juliana, thanks for watching
I have wanted to sew Nomi blouse but the front slit has put me off. It never occurred to me to cut it on the fold 😅 thank you for the inspiration going to make mine
It is quite a low slit, isn't it. It's an easy tweak to make, you just need to deviate a little from the instructions.
The Liv Pants by Mood Sewciety are my favourite trousers - I’ve made 3 pairs. However the instructions are not great. Some great patterns here.
Hi Kristen, that's interesting. I heard someone say Mood patterns vary depending on the designer. What a win to find your favourite pattern and it's free!
