A greedy child ruined the Sriracha legacy.
Wrong. An underpaying sauce company did.
@donovanschoor1473 And that company is run by the greedy child I mentioned.
what is bro on about
@@gavinrolls1054 The dad that started Huy Fong is not actively running the company, he's basically "Retired". His kid was behind the decision to pull out from the Underwood contract without paying them, to save a buck. Very bad gamble, where in reality he could've raised the price of the product if he needed to make margins, and it would keep selling.
TLDR they lost their Pepper Source, and are now using inferior peppers.
They didn't just lose it, they lost it because they got greedy and breached contract with the supplier.
I thought it was because tons of white folks could't handle the heat. In Mexico gentrification and the massive arrival of digital nomads that comes with it, has forced restaurants in the areas most frequented by foreigners to serve less spicy versions of the sauces. This has infuriated many locals who complain that because of the massive influx of expats in Mexico City, hot sauces are “no longer hot”.
I have an unused older bottle of sriracha. It’s brighter and deeper in red. The stuff on the shelf today looks more dull, it’s darker, and has a brown hue. I can visually see the difference after the pepper supply changed.
@@RabbitWatchShop it sure ain't the same
In my opinion it should be thrown out. I dislike the taste of aged sriracha but if you like it , keep it
@@ramencurry6672 I’m keeping it because it’s merely the original and it’s like an artifact at this point lol 😂 I don’t intend on consuming it. I promise I don’t hoard old things. I made an exception for this bottle of sriracha tho
@@RabbitWatchShop I have a similar thing with my Tin of Caribbean Cock Soup, it's just in my Cupboard to laugh at.
Tran is not a "migrant" he is an immigrant. Migrant means he was a transitory visitor/worker (think seasonal farm workers). Immigrant means he permanently relocated.
This is what happens when you sell out and go mainstream, it no longer belongs to you and ppl take advantage.
I feel like a lot of businesses start off humble and kind but once they go big they start hiring these golden spoon in the ass idiots that make decisions for them that steer them away from their kind beginnings.
I remember when I first found Sriracha in specialty shops a long time ago. It kind of amazed me when it all of a sudden became popular and people were acting like it was something new even though it had been around for a while. Not complaining, as it's easier to find now, but it was odd.
@@mightybk That’s the power of social media, trends, and groupthink. I remember when the sauce blew up on social media. All of the sudden, it was on every restaurant table and store shelf. Granted, it was more than those things. It’s a delicious condiment.
I remember when the same craze happened over vapes, new energy drink brands, etc.
@@RabbitWatchShop For sure. There are lots of things that all of a sudden become popular when they weren't before. Velvet cake is one. Sea salt caramel is another. Then it becomes overdone -- even when it's something good.
Underwood, baby. I've switched for months now and I'm happy as a clam.
I never really thought it was all that great, although the tabasco one is pretty awesome
I agree, I prefer the Tabasco one also.
I agree, i find it to sweet, and it aint picy at all, i prefer sambal, especially the suriname version
Tobasco is the worst hot sauce IMO.
Just because people are saying the opposite, I feel inclined to comment that I like this narrator. I like several of them.
Yeah she’s from WatchMojo so she’s not exactly new to RUclips. I think she’s a good balance. Plus like her, the guy does other channels so there’s only so much time he can allot for this specific channel. If they want to keep posting more frequent content, they need to hire additional help and I’m all for giving people jobs.
The joke was funny when she first joined, but she’s been here almost 2 years, it’s gotten old. Also I’ve never seen any other channel get this much backlash/criticism over bringing on someone new. Usually people don’t say anything or go out of their way to be very welcoming when a new person joins. Rarely do they criticize but they usually get over it or just unsub, but to keep this up for years… that’s just unhealthy
Yup it sux now. The secret was the farmer that source the peppers.

Haven’t watched any videos in over a year. Glad to see nothing has changed and people still bitch when there’s a different narrator for a day.
from my point of view i was just happily enjoying sriracha until the normies came along and ruined it
Ooooohhhh, now I’m waiting for the video on Cholula, the BEST hot sauce!
I have an uncle who is a fan of Cholula. So I am curious for that vid as well!
The best hot sauce for who, midwestern housewives? Its just a sauce, its not even hot.
@@xSintex Going out of your way to be an ahole over hot sauce?
@@LMXPebbleOr maybe just stating a fact. It's closer to ketchup than hot sauce.
Huy Fong Foods had a practical monopoly on the US sriracha market. With their foolish legal maneuverings, they will lose FAR more profits and US market share than the mere courtroom losses over the long term.
I’ll save you time: Karens ruined the spice
TL-DW: They switched to less-hot peppers. You're welcome.
I've used Sriracha to create the heat in hot and sour soup if I can't get to a Chinese grocer for the proper stuff, it works surprisingly well.
I still love Sriracha, but the only brand I could find last time I bought it I could find was Lee Kum Kee. Which I think is too sweet.
If you can find a filipino store look for Jufran brand
Thanks for interesting and valuable video as always ❤❤❤
As of last time I looked into it, Huy Fong does no advertising. Their popularity has been by word-of-mouth.
Great job! Your videos are always so high quality and interesting! 🐱💞
Way to create your own competition which in turns makes your own sauce inferior now and theirs became number one in amazon O_O Is not smart to go againts your main supplier of one of your main ingredients trying to bargin prices unless they charge you almost double from what you paid a year ago best to accept the prices and negotiate for next harvest instead.
Irwindale is also known for their racetracks. AKA the House of Drift
Haven't had it and ain't going to have it. If I need any added heat in my cooking then Tabasco or a sprinkling of cayenne pepper will serve me just fine, as it has for the past 40 years. Everyone's tastes are different so I applaud the creator's work.
I love sriracha, the flavor has changed a little but not as much as people claim. Jalapenos change color so I am assuming the darker color is older peppers that are a darker red than what it use to be. Still though great flavor 9/10
This Narrator and the OG Narrator are my favorite, on their main channel they been trying different Narrator also but the commenter's said get rid of him
Underwood makes a better Sriracha
We learned we can live without Huy Fong during the shortage. The Underwood sauce is pretty good.
Underwood is the original pepper supplier if I remember correctly.
I have a new bottle of the Hoy Fong siracha. Junk now, has a metallic taste. The Kroger house brand Siracha is better.
I watch this while looking at the sauce on my fridge
Jerry brown always smiles and never frowns. Soon he will be president!
they gentrified my hot sauce
In relation to the Sriracha masot...the public school mascot of the town I was born in (Ord, Nebraska) is Chanticleer, a famous rooster.
Yes, those of us born in the 80's all saw Rock a Doodle, starring a rooster by that name.
The word is just old French for Rooster in general.
I didn't know Sriracha has that much salt/sugar‼️😵I used to put that sish on EVERYTHING 🤤
Sirachageddon was right there.
It's not that good, and not hot at all. Tabasco is much better, but still not that hot.
Yea earlier this year during the shortage I found some at a local oriental store. I think I paid $17 a bottle and I bought the only 2 they had. 😅
I've tried multiple different Sriracha sauces, and nothing compares to huy fong.
Cholula is soo much better. But when I want a sauce that sticks, I use Sriracha.
Haven't been able to find any in the grocery store for close to 2 years now, anyway. Had to buy another brand.
This narrator and the original guy are pretty great! Anyone that doesn't like this narrator must be hard of hearing.
So it's a Thai sauce with Chinese roots, popularised by a Vietnamese guy, who made it in America with peppers that originally came from Mexico?
Check out all the languages on the bottle!
I love a good immigrant success story. That’s what this country is all about 🇺🇸
My 28 year old loves that stuff. I'm more of a Tabasco guy.
Do one on red's hot Buffalo sauce or the original Buffalo sauce. Best hot sauce ever.
new farm, thats why. there are better options btw. do not watch a 10 min video to learn about a legal despite you can google, or the new farms. just look into the better alternatives (found one, not saying its name because i had to try 10 brands to find this one and i'm thrilled ot have a replacement)
I like to get Three Mountain yellow Sriracha. Nice heat and a great fruity taste.
I wish Tyra Banks would come out with a sauce
That'll be too hot
@@eltonjohntubola3212Not hot at all.
@@eltonjohntubola3212 hahaha
Tyra Banks is so 90s, boomer
@@RabbitWatchShop Just shut up.
It never was hot. It's just spicy ketchup.
Oh ok. That's a lotta sugar. No wonder I don't like it.
All that sugar is eaten by lactobacteria during the fermentation process, and turned into acid and carbon dioxide.
@@LumaTo For me, that’s precisely what separates it from all American traditional hot sauces, and it’s why sriracha is so delicious. Asian cuisine enjoys incorporating ingredients that trigger all taste buds: sweet, salty, sour, bitter, and umami. With western cuisine, the focus is usually two to a few. This is why I generally prefer Asian cuisine over western.
@@thagingerninjer5391 It's still sweet, so clearly not all of it turned to acid and gas.
@@LumaTo nah
@@thagingerninjer5391 Bruh. Are you saying Sriracha isn't sweet?
I first heard of it on a TechN9ne song.
He puts that on everything.
Only in America does "ham glaze" exist ...
I remember when this was a craze in the 2010s. Glad I never got on board.
A+ video!
LOVE IT! Awesome history, really cool it won Ingredient of the Year for Bon Appétit!
I love sriracha on smoked salmon cream cheese everything bagel! So good!!
Not hot enough, and too much sugar (diabetes)
I just find sriracha to be unnecessarily sweet and the spiciness is harsh without a pleasant flavour. I prefer tabasco.
It's too sweet and not hot enough.
Eating ANOTHER Weird History meal!
Eating ORANGE CHICKEN*†...while watching this Weird History video!
Sriracha would go great on that!
* From the Weird History video "The Deliciously Greasy History Of Panda Express"
† Sriracha has a kick!
Its good but not that good.
This is not the voice I expected when I clicked on the link. :( I guess 2nd best is pretty good still.
I love Sriracha sauce!
Sriracha's overrated IMO
Tabasco Sriracha is better than the original
Still way too mild though.
I have to agree.
Texas Pete's version is pretty good too.
the only one I like personally
I hate to say it but I agree
Can you do Idaho fry sauce?
When was it ever hot😂😂😂
Crystal is good enough
If it doesn't have the fighting rooster on the bottle, it's not real Sriracha
And since they no longer use the original peppers from the original supplier neither is it real Sriracha
If you're here to listen to someone's voice, go watch a video that has that narrator's voice. If you are here for the content, congratulations; you got another win today
I just wish she'd pronounce it SRIRACHA ant not SIRACHA
Yum Yum Sauce
Wrong voice, good item
Oh oh no no no
Sriarcha socialism.
Chicks saying dumb things is cringe.
So are you and your comment.
I love sriracha's flavor but I do not consider it a hot sauce.
A1 history?
A1 sauce is for well-done 1970's shoe leather steaks, and for plates of beef liver and onions. If you like A1 sauce today, you probably wore a wife beater to your mom's funeral.😆
I heard Kamala Harris carries a bottle around in her purse...
No matter what sauce you buy, look at the ingredients to make sure THE PEPPER is listed FIRST, as it should be, so that you know the sauce won’t taste like vinegar, sugar, or any other crap. Also double check consistency; THICK sauces pair with food better, and are more economical because you’ll get more servings out of them.
Sriracha is flavorless and boring, it’s essentially white people’s first spice. On the other hand, Matouk’s is a real, good, everyday hot sauce brand with enough burn to go with the flavor, but not too much burn that I spend extra time on the toilet. It’s not for casuals, but not a hardcore sauce either. Perfectly in the middle. I’m not a bot and this comment wasn’t sponsored, I just really like Matouk’s. I don’t know about other regions, but if you live in the South, you can find it at Publix in the hot sauces or international sauces isle. I suggest Scorpion (hottest, first ingredient is scorpion peppers), West Indies, and Calypso.
Wrong narrator, can’t even watch with this annoying voice
But you'll comment - thanks!
There is nothing wrong with the narrator.
That sugar thing was a deal breaker with me.. I don't eat anything with chemicals or sugar
Ok, but why the Rooster logo??
5 second google
The logo refers to the Year of the Rooster in the Vietnamese zodiac, as David Tran was born in 1945.
9 seconds of the wrong voice. Fuck that. I’m out.
Narrator awesome ❤
This narrator is valid and wonderful and a great part of the WHF team! :D
Wrong narrator voice....
The don’t watch anymore.
Genuinely tell me which videos on this channel with the guy narrator’s voice would you comment “Wrong narrator voice” on?
Because theres always going to be more than just him.
@thagingerninjer5391 hey... triggered much?... it's OK to NOT love everything. Believe it or not, but there used to be a time when we could talk about things we had differing opinions on and it NOT just be someone shutting down or shutting someone out. This narrator is like listening to bad AI. Period. They aren't saying anything beyond that. It's OK to NOT lick EVERY boot.
Yes... this narrator sucks.
No one cares
Im sorry, but the other narrator is my preference.
Yes... I really dislike this woman's voice. She comes off as so fake. Like AI trying to sound lively.
Happy pride incels.
All the guys here to be sexist are just FUELING how often she’s used and I love it. Keep up the engagement in her vids I love her and can’t wait to hear her voice more often! What fools. It’s like when little boys push a girl cause he likes her and doesn’t know how to communicate those feelings properly. They obviously like her too or they wouldn’t bring so much engagement only under her vids. I love when incels are just dumb.
Yep, any comments, even negative ones, boost the algorithm for the videos they claim to hate due to the narrator's voice.
Keep it up! 👍
❤❤
She ruins every video
For all the people who criticize the narrator if you think you can better why don't you audition for weird history food Haters are gonna hate
That stuff is so disgusting
Starting out by talking about negative health benefits of the condiment you're highlighting is ludicrous.
The small amount intended to be used is in no way any harm.
Keep stoking the ridiculous idea of what the government thinks about health, because we all know how they tried to fowchee us a coupla years ago, and we trust their opinions implicitly.
Oh, and the girl voice is so blazé, it's sleep inducing.
I'm out. Try again, WHF.
Stop using fake Sriracha from Vietnam, Real Authentic from Thailand
Good luck with that Boycott campaign of yours. 🙃 I prefer using whatever tastes good To Me. 🌐🤪
