Spock becoming more and more emotional, puts him on track to be highly emotive as he was in the TOS first episode. He is going to have a total schism of emotions when Pike is fried... He will go to P'Jem to have all emotions purged... just before or as Kirk becomes Captain of Enterprise... hence his TOS snd later being a cold computer chat gpt type personality.
Thanks for the recap...My initial impression is how interesting and ironic that the sought for defense council is on a planet where humans are not native to and they either "adapt" or need an apparatus.... To survive on this planet they normally wouldn't be able to survive on -Where as The Illyrians are faulted for adapting themselves.for basically the same reason I don't see much daylight TBH
While I agree this was one of the best pilot episodes I've ever seen, my personal opinion is that I've never seen a series tank so fast. While I don't tend to like comedy episodes, the few they had were the best of the bunch: beginnings, middles, and ends without a bunch of nonsense in the middle. The dramatic plots were so full of holes it's a wonder the show survived even for 10 episodes. Then again, if you don't care about plot, character, plausibility and continuity...then it's probably fine. Definitely not looking forward to Star Trek: The Juvenile Years either. TOS had problems due to its era, but it was innovative for its time. Let it rest in peace!
The child sacrifice / humanoid battery episode was horrific. Definitely not planning on re-watching that one lol. Thanks for the recap. FYI, Paramount has uploaded all of the Season 1 episodes directly onto RUclips so anyone can watch and be up to date prior to the Season 2 premiere (on Paramount Plus and other paid viewing platforms of course lol).
Femlez, the final frontier, Embarking on a mission sincere. The Starship Femlez sets sail, For a voyage that will never fail. Its five-year mission, bold and true, To explore quips, both old and new. You just don't get it! I'm forced to watch this because it's called Star Trek, and I had this tiny glimmer of hope that it would improve, but it never does! It's like torture, pure agony. Watching it feels like I'm willingly inflicting pain on myself, constantly sacrificing my own happiness. It's like my own personal purgatory, an eternal sentence of enduring this torment. Each episode is an excruciating journey, a never-ending struggle. Can't you see how difficult it is for me to endure?
Episodic format is so much better for a show like this. More has happened in this season than in the entire run of Discovery and to some extent Picard.

I have some concerns about the portrayal of certain characters in the show. In my opinion, these four characters seem to exhibit behavior that I find inappropriate and inconsistent with the show's theme. Their actions resemble those of individuals from a particular area in downtown Chicago, which I believe takes away from the overall experience. Uhura's character appears overly aggressive, Chappel's androgynous representation seems to reinforce stereotypes, Ortega's hairstyle is unappealing to me, and Lana, as a security officer, is depicted as a person of short stature with extraordinary strength. I also feel that all four characters are consistently disrespectful and rude, without any apparent reason. It can be frustrating to watch, and I believe it distracts from the main storyline. I would prefer if the show focused on different aspects and avoided the inclusion of what I perceive as excessive political messages. I hope the future episodes take a different direction

@@The-Real-Spaniard You dont understand. RIP Hemmer gone too soon 🙏
I deeply enjoyed the first season of STSNW! I've been a lifelong since September 8,1966 when STAR TREK was born. I was 11years old.
This was way better than I thought it would be.
Fantastic recap as always! I'm so excited for season two and I can't wait to hear your thoughts about it! Keep up the great work!

Nice recap Nick. I am looking forward to season 2. And your reviews.
Thanks for the recap! I had forgotten so much!
Perfect Recap. Everything I needed
Really really appreciate this recap, thank you 👏
I think I've been missing out, this actually looks like Star Trek, think I'll watch this one.
This got me pumped up for the new season!! Bring it on!! 🤩
That was a really good recap!
Great Recap Nick!
It was such a great first season. I just wish I had Pike’s hair. 😂🖖
It is truly gravity-defying.
I'm older than Piker by more than a decade and have his hair with less grey I consider myself lucky in that sense
Thanks for the Recap
Thank you ❤
Well done.
Thanks!
I wonder who outed Number One... 😏

i think you need to maybe just stick to cat videos
The dialogue is brutal, that's for sure, but it is better then STD, low bar, I know.

lol this is just straight up verbatim reading the wikipedia synopsis of each episode alongside still pictures, how does this low effort bullshit fly

You should give it up now. The show will never become as bigoted as you seem to be.

Milking the recaps from last year for YT bucks. Do better.
The new season begins in a week. This is a handy recap to those of us who might not remember all the details of the first season.
