I loved Q but I can't bring myself to watch season 1 and 2. Rewatching all the old TNG sodes then gonna watch the movies, then season 3 of Picard. Gonna be a good summer!
I spent the last few days rewatching both seasons prior to season 3 and glad I did because I forgot a lot. I consider your recap required viewing for someone like me who just binged all those episodes to help cement the details in memory. Watched season 3 episode one three times today and loved it. Looking forward to your reviews when you post them. 👍
I like the scene on the bus where 7 calls out on the punk with the radio in parallel to Kirk in The Voyage Home. It was the same song and I believe the same actor, but different result. Plus the guy moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles.
Picard season 2, if you thought season 1 was bad (which it was) buckle up. Luckily, Season 3 is amazing. Where seasons 1 & 2 ignore series canon and pushes illogical agenda, season 3 was made for the fans.
I know they wanted to focus on Picard's psyche concerning himself and his mother, but it would be better if they included his older brother Robert adding to his grief since he was supposedly a bit of a bully to Jean Luc. A few choice flashback moments from TNG like Inner Light would work too.
Nice job, BUT you forgot to mention the Galactic event, that was the purpose of Juratti’s Borg arrival. And of course the fleet uniting with the Borg to deflect the burst.
it was absolutely insane,,, just go ahead and forget about the most significant thing that has literally ever happened... just forget about that gaping whole,, and that the borg are part of the federation BUT COULD NOT HELP,,, no no they cant or they would need to explain why the gaping doomsday whole is there and no action cause the being took a year two year long nap( at the end of season 3 the fast foreard to 1 year later,,, gaping whole still there but meh.... the writers FAILED so hard it hurts... i swore i never comment on social media as its a waste of time BUT OMG as a star trek fan it was ludicrous.
Out of all of the Star Trek shows we have gotten, this season of Picard was by far the most confusing and poorly written thing we have ever gotten in Star Trek. Honestly I feel like we would have been better off without it. I have high hopes for season 3 but I’m keeping my hype level turned down because I do not want to be let down, again.
Looking at this recap, there are some good ideas here, but in practice there were soooo many plot holes. Why did Q want to sabotage Rene? Why didn’t Guinan remember Picard? How was Soong able to get mercenaries? Why did Talin have to sacrifice herself?
Seriously. At some point someone walked up to the producers with a summary of the script similar to this and they thought this would land well with the audience? 😅 ....happy this helped me to jump straight to season 3 now.
WOW! Thanks, that was amazing! We need a similar recap for season one. This and the amazing Klingon shirt, today is great day to eat pie, is cause for a super thanks.
Why do people behind the Star Trek media not like Star Trek? Seriously how bad do they let it get. The 2000s have been really really bad for storytelling.
since season 2 and 3 is run by the showrunner of the 12monkeys tv show, theres a couple of references to that show, Picard's dad & Wells ( also a fbi agent and HG Wells was a gag with his character in 12monkeys) both actorw were used in that show, to the bar called Deacons in picard
I wanted to watch season 3 after hearing good things but couldn't bring myself to watch season 2, I got to episode 3 and couldn't watch anymore. I didn't miss anything
Thank you for this summary. I tried to get through S2, but it was even worse than S1. I hear S3 is pretty good, though, but couldn’t bear to drag myself through finishing S2.
Thanks for your recaps, Ive heard from the Critical Drinker that seasons 1 and 2 were horribly woke and messed up but that season 3 is very good, so I will watch knowing what happened before!
@@Handles_are_garbage From what i can recall from the show there is quite several things. For starters, anything that goes "woke" do not care about lore, story telling but only push there ideas in the show. So you can see how many of themes and lore in star trek have changed. For one the federation did not help the Romulans because of racism? The Romulans couldn't help there own people, the race that was so feared the federation would not dear to enter it's territory. They had ships powered on singularities which is almost a star, but couldn't fix a start about to blow up. The fact that they relocated them on mars and had the hole scene with only we only server Romulans, again racism. But never really showed how the typical Romulan always saw them self as superior to other races. Then you got the whole aspect of changing the Romulan look and just saying northeners. Just a coincidence every show only had northerners in them from TNG to DS9. You had the fact that they had access to a borg cube, why would you give them that? You also had the moment where they said, ex borg people prefer to call them self something i forgot, which sounds a lot like the whole gender movement and self perception that helps no one. Above that 7 of 9 is not recognizable since she has changed so much, heck i think in the first scene when she pored her self a glass of alcohol was the only time you saw something resembling 7 of 9 (the way she moved). No more the rational and super scientific person. The fact that star trek has always been about the utopic vision, while at times you had corruptions and bad people, Picard and discovery just made it look dystopic and very unfunctional. Then you got season 2 and going to the pass and again racism with the whole ICE thing, then you got the optimistic and wise Guinan just a pessimist against humans. But some how she forgot she meet them in the pass in the far western times. Then you had the whole the world going to end because of climate change with the hills on fire. Borgs are no more the zombie type of bad guys, but now they are fully aware of there surroundings and can now do martial arts... Just them going in the pass should of been them trying to adhere to the space and time travel protocol and being super paranoid of not changing the pass. But seems being careless wasn't a big concern. The whole thing about mental health should of not even appear in the show, since these kinds of issue are almost unheard of. Even in DS9 when O'Brien relived PTS after doing a mission that almost got him killed, the next episode he is fine because science is so advance. These are the thing i can recall off the top of my head.
@@Handles_are_garbage Simple, they only care about pushing there message then actually doing anything about great art/entertainments/thoughtful/inspirational... So every chance they can to talk about racism, sexism or any other subject of the day they will ham fist it in even if it makes no sense. Just like the last season of discovery with the whole trans issue and having the pronoun talk. Which lead to the next confusing scene where you had a hard time following if they were specifically talking about her or teens in general. You also had the most annoying thing that was constantly push in every episodes about talking about your feelings and this was like every 5-15min, to the point that just by listening to the music i knew what was about to happen before they even opened there mouth.
