This makes me happy, ever since I started getting into competitive in Gen 6, I hated how bad Articuno was. And seeing this new form of Articuno being really good in comp puts a smile on my face.
Strangely enough, it turns out that normal Articuno does fine when on a Gen 8 UU stall team because it stalls against Water, Grass, and Dragon Pokémon and heals status conditions.

Also, spore prankster doesnt work on dark and grass types. But yes, it wrecks teams if they arent prepared for it.
i dont get why they broke so many fun mechanics. sure, your articuno could double wing attack eldegoss right away and get +4 special attack right away. that may be broken. but not even as broken as surf+weakness policy+steam engine. so why ruin fun mechanics like self sticky web if you still keep cheap stuff like this?

Wow! I once thought about having Cotton Down + Competitive Milotic, until I remembered ally-inflicted Cotton Downs don't trigger competitive. I should've thought about having a Skill Swap user to make this work. It's a lot of wild set-ups for sure, but having other things like intimidate from either side sure helps out. Maybe I can make this work with Galarian Zapdos with his Defiant ability! :o

To be fair, at least for Vish, there is no full fossil of the animal it's based on (dunkleosteus), just the head and shoulders are found (like with Vish).
@Sidney J. Duffy How? The point of why the fossils are mismatched references how early paleontologists in the Great Britain didn't know how fossils were supposed to be put together. Making the fossil Pokemon the way they originally looked ruins the reference.
This has probably already been suggested but I would LOVE to see a Regieleki set centered around Electroball; I was thinking setting it up with (admittedly scummy) speed boost/agility+baton pass Ninjask or Orbeetle? And pairing it with a bulky Soak/Magic Powder user like Tapu Fini or Hatterene for Ground types. And adding Magnet Rise to Regieleki to use on the Soak/Magic Powder turn. Then just slap a Life Orb or Choice Specs on him and absolutely annihilate everything. With Transistor, STAB, Speed Increase, Specs/Orb(, and potentially Soak) I feel like Regieleki could destroy anything(being mindful of course of Swampert, Trick Room, and Sticky Web).
Or if it was a single battle and your opponent has a smeargle with octolock or a grapploct, and you somehow predicted the octolock, then you can switch into a Pokemon with competitive or defiant and just win that way

i actually think i like the Galarian forms of the "Legendary Birds" better than the originals. it just i wish Zapdos & Moltres kept Articuno's theme with "Freezing Glare" having a chance to freeze the opponent. but sadly Zapdos's "Thunderous Kick" doesn't have a chance to paralyze it has a chance to lower defense also sadly Moltres's "Fiery Wrath" doesn't have a chance to burn it flinches instead. thats the only reason i can't give this trio a 10/10 but a 9/10 is still good. they are well designed and their shinies pay respects to their origins.
Yeah I though that was a missed opportunity, though I think the secondary effects they have do make sense. It's just weird that Fiery Wrath is only a slightly more powerful Dark Pulse...

@@beutran4951 you don't have to fly to be a flying type like Doduo and Dodrio. remember the Flying type is a combonation of the Air Element and Birds. so Articuno and Moltres (the galarian forms) would be flying type in the sense of birds and the air element. while Zapdos(glarian) would be flying type only in the aspect of being a bird and not the Air Element. you might argue that there are bird pokemon that aren't flying type but thats only because they have more practice in other elements. like Empoleon has more power with the water and steel elements than it does with birds so thats why its not flying type this is also why Dartrix loses the flying type when evolving into Decidueye its because it has more practice and power in the ghost element than the flying element but it still has flying moves meaning if it needs to it can use the skills of its prevolved forms.
I know you were already answered, but this might be a helpful clarification - while Neutralizing Gas does work on Slow Start, it also has the significant drawback that Slow Start not only comes back but resets to the full five turns as soon as Neutralizing Gas wears off. If either one of the two faints prematurely to double-targeting, or if you can't keep Galarian Weezing on the field for as long as you need Regigigas, Slow Start is just as big a problem as ever, unfortunately. Neutralizing Gas probably only buys you a turn or two at most. They were not very kind to Regigigas. :c

I think Moltres is super interesting with it's berserk ability. You can do a lot with it, like use substitute to activate it or maybe even use Nature's Madness from your own Tapu. If only Nature's Madness could activate a weakness policy, then the Moltres could use Nasty Plot then a Nature's Madness to activate Berserk and the Weakness policy.
Maybe people dont really get the type change. Kantonian Articuno is 4x weak to Rock, so in peoples' minds, Articuno has been 4x weak to Rock for 20 years. This is why I love regional forms - they rearrange and in some cases defy some very old conventions.
When using this team, I had Meowstic take competitive from a Milotic, meaning both Articuno and Meowstic got to +6. Coupled with Max Mindstorm's terrain, Meowstic destroyed with Expanding force
Great video. I think it mostly showcased the amazing utility of Skill Swap though. Holy moly it can make some mons so weak and actually have instant value when stealing stuff like intimidate.
What are you doing against G-Moltres leads with this team? I’ve played with the team quite a bit. The gimmick is super fun and works quite often as well as the other modes. Moltres being dark type really makes it hard to pull off tho and they’re everywhere right now. Also after playing with the team personally I would put life orb on landorus over scarf.
Good question - I theoried this team before the game was even out so it's definitely not prepared for the current meta and could certainly be improved upon. But really it's a gimmick team, so even at it's best there will likely be bad matchups. I think Defiant Thundurus may actually work better than Articuno due to its great offensive typing. You could always try both Thundurus and Articuno on the same team and just bring the one you think will be better in a specific matchup.
Omg I thought taking Intimidate off Incineroar was cool for boosting your team's defenses slightly but then throwing that onto the Lapras later on into that battle was one of the biggest brain plays I've ever seen! Hahahaha
Question: do you think Regieleki will be ran with Electro ball because of its speed? Or will use Thunder Cage? Or even Thunderbolt (although I think Thunder Cage is way better)
@@AshenDust_ but its optimal. Rising Voltage + Specs can two shot Ferrothorn. But I believe that Electro Ball is the strongest on it when its alone. It can outspeed everything, even most Choice Scarfers. Rapid Spin is really useful in singles, so it can ensure that it gets max damage on Electro Ball. You can use Thunder Cage, but it's not it's best move. It's better for trapping potential switching and safely moving out to another mon. But it's not the strongest move it has.
I want to use this in doubles: assault vest will give it really nice special bulk, then U-turn, Hurricane, Expo force or it's other psychic move, then a coverage move.
You could try eject pack leaf storm as a u-turn alternative on eldegoss (although you’re then susceptible to intimidate) Also maybe could use G-Slowking to remove the speed drops once you get boosted In any case, this team slaps
In the second battle they probably canceled because they knew they were beat, but I'd like to think that after the WP triggered for that last +1 SAtk they decided they were getting memed on and the Disrespect was just too much. On that note IIRC you had +6 SAtk, +2 Speed, and +1 Atk on that GArticuno by cancellation, a wildly successful set up.
From everything happening. It seems we've gone from Weather Wars to Ability Wars. Their are some Pokemon with top class abilities that can bring double battles to the next level right now. With G Weezing and now Regigigas finally here the war has finally come.
If you really wanted to make use of expanding force on Articuno, you could an Iron Ball held item or the move Gravity. It will also work with pokemons that have Levitate as an ability.
Yeah, tried this when swsh came out with milotic. Turns out, u can’t get competetive with something like bullet seed on your own pokemon. Looking forward to seeing how it worked out for you, though!

I have terrible luck with substitute. Everything breaks it when I use it. The opposite is true when I face substitute.

@@AshenDust_ but its optimal. Rising Voltage + Specs can two shot Ferrothorn. But I believe that Electro Ball is the strongest on it when its alone. It can outspeed everything, even most Choice Scarfers. Rapid Spin is really useful in singles, so it can ensure that it gets max damage on Electro Ball.
You can use Thunder Cage, but it's not it's best move. It's better for trapping potential switching and safely moving out to another mon. But it's not the strongest move it has.

I want to use this in doubles:
assault vest will give it really nice special bulk, then U-turn, Hurricane, Expo force or it's other psychic move, then a coverage move.
Wont get much of a boosted from the terrain since its flying

You could try eject pack leaf storm as a u-turn alternative on eldegoss (although you’re then susceptible to intimidate)
Also maybe could use G-Slowking to remove the speed drops once you get boosted

In the second battle they probably canceled because they knew they were beat, but I'd like to think that after the WP triggered for that last +1 SAtk they decided they were getting memed on and the Disrespect was just too much.
On that note IIRC you had +6 SAtk, +2 Speed, and +1 Atk on that GArticuno by cancellation, a wildly successful set up.

From everything happening. It seems we've gone from Weather Wars to Ability Wars. Their are some Pokemon with top class abilities that can bring double battles to the next level right now. With G Weezing and now Regigigas finally here the war has finally come.

You should try a zapdos and also a moltres team
Tbf you could swap out Articuno for Zapdos in this team because Defiant is similar to Competitive (though not quite as effective against Intimidate)
If you really wanted to make use of expanding force on Articuno, you could an Iron Ball held item or the move Gravity. It will also work with pokemons that have Levitate as an ability.
Yeah, tried this when swsh came out with milotic. Turns out, u can’t get competetive with something like bullet seed on your own pokemon. Looking forward to seeing how it worked out for you, though!

Use scarfed galarian articuno and when lando-t comes in with intimidate you sweep the entire team
