    cbilton.creator-spring.com I have said a few times in the past that I can simply see a piece of jewellery even only briefly in a magazine or a shop window and not only have it memorised perfectly but instantly know how to make it. Well, now I have my own workshop set up I can put that to the test!
    While out with my wife recently we visited a watch specialists here in Japan and on the wall there was a large photo of a diamond pendant. It was a simple and elegant design but simultaneously quite a show stopper.
    A few days later I randomly remembered it and thought it would be a nice piece for the channel and also I could finally prove to myself that I can make something I had only quickly looked at.
    The full video after editing was 90 minutes long so I decided to make it a 3 part series made of 3, 30 minute episodes. Look out for the surprise special guest appearance in this episode!
    I have recently join Patreon!
    This channel has potential to grow in to a great archive of jewellers knowledge with your help.
    With patrons support I will be able to offer far more information than I am currently able to.
    With nearly 25 years of knowledge gained in the jewellery trade working with some of the best diamond mounters in the UK I can train practitioners of jewellery making, up to and far beyond the skill level found in High Street jewellers workshops.
    I have been lucky enough to have been taught by actual Bond Street shop model makers and my ambition is to share what I have learned through out my career to as many people as possible.
    My vehicle to do this is the Diamond Mounter RUclips channel and now after nearly 1 year of uploading video guides, its time to take it up a level.
    My ambition is to be able to make instructional videos with not just silver, but gold and platinum also. Some proper jewellers soldering equipment will enable me to create much more special pieces too! This will open up a whole new world of information I have to share.
    There are many specific methods and techniques used for the different precious metals and knowledge about gemstones I can teach that will never enter my videos unless I am actually working with them.
    If you may be interested in becoming a patron and supporting the channel to help it grow please click the link below to go to the Patreon website and find out about all the benefits that come with being a Diamond Mounter patron.

    There is now a new entry level tier which costs just £1 a month.
    Its named the supporter tier which allows you to support the channel with out any substantial financial obligation. I will thank you personally on the next Diamond Mounter video uploaded!
    I hope you will consider becoming a patron.
    Thank you,

    With this channel I will share with you methods and techniques I have learned over the previous 24 years as a professional jeweller.
    I specialize in high end bespoke pieces made the old fashioned way by hand.
    I wish to document everything I know, continue to learn and make accessible to everyone rare skills and techniques only usually taught in high security jewellers workshops.

    Could you also cut a washer shape from sheet, rather than turn the wire round?

    • @DiamondMounter
      @DiamondMounter  3 года назад

      Sure! Actually I have just finished making a pendant doing that. Editing it now. It will be on youtube in 2 weeks but Patrons can watch it from tomorrow!

    is it easier to cut the circle out with a disc cutter or don't they make a hole in the centre?

    • @DiamondMounter
      @DiamondMounter  4 года назад

      Never used one. I imagine they just cut out a circle. You could cut it out of a plate then just dome it in a doming block. Easier than the way I did it!

    • @Junoshelly
      @Junoshelly 3 года назад

      Cut the centre hole with a smaller punch first, then mark up the outer ring and cut again. You get a washer shape and no solder seam. You could always cut from a sheet by piercing too. Some of the more expensive tools will have a centering punch to make this easy.

    Chris, you mention the width of the metal 3.2mm, but what depth are you using please? #cbiltonjewellery

    • @DiamondMounter
      @DiamondMounter  3 года назад

      It was quite thick if I remember right it was about 1.7mm?? I will double check next time I have it.

    What is the thickness of your metal?

    • @DiamondMounter
      @DiamondMounter  4 года назад +2

      the halo bezels are 1.3mm. Doesnt need to be that thick but Id rather it was too thick than too thin. Thin looks cheap and isnt as strong
