It works for this film because of the set design and the incredible practical effects. Presented in 70mm, you can't get a computer generated explosion in 20k resolution. The only way to capture an explosion at that quality is to capture an explosion in real life.
I think anyone who saw this movie in imax and thought it was oversold, and now saw the movie on their tv, I bet they changed their minds. It’s a completely different feel on the tv. The story itself feels smaller. The sense of dread and gravity is turned way down. And wow is cillian is an absolute monster of an actor.
