Would you consider to document all of your training on Strava as well? I think it would really help out people following you and your training to see the fine specifics of your marathon block. Good luck in the training Nick!
Dude! You are an inspiration, at 35 I started running at the beginning of this year, and my first 5k time was 30:25, so I decided to run a 5k within 1 month apart for the rest of the year, my time in may was 27:35, June 26:45 and July 25:08. I have been training 3 to 4 times a day and I have added a lot of weight Lifting exercise on my routine, I am planning to hit 24 or 23 mins next time but for sure I will move up to a 10k and more. Running is a good stress reliever!!
I train 3 to 4 days a week, I run 2 to 3 x a week in a slow pace for 4 miles and 1 x a week at my best pace trying to reach a 5k between 24 to 25 mins. Usually I lift some weights before I run for about 20 mins, 1 x a week I focus only on leg day and I run a slow pace.
Just up the mileage you’ll crush it easy. I was in the same boat first 5k 28 minutes and just kept running PR’d my 5k tail end of a 13 mile run 21:16 not even trying to break it.
I'm running CIM this year too! Not as fast as you but my goal is to BQ. Looking forward to following along your journey while I'm also going through mine. G1M!
Next challenge, go low to no carbs. keto/carnivore approach. You will be surprised that we don’t “need” carbs for performance and endurance. Once fat adapted, our bodies produce all the glucose we need through gluconeogenesis. Many endurance athletes are low to no carbs. Me being one of them. Keep at it man, GO ONE MORE. 💪💪👏👏
@@jennas5279 thank you! I had already ran for a around a year roughly 2-3 times a week but ramped up my training to around 5 times a week for the last 4 months
Signed up for my first marathon coming up in October. Love your videos and they have been a great help for me combining strength and endurance training. I am sure you will crush your goals and will be glad to follow along your journey while having mine.
I have THE BIGGEST man crush on you!!! Every time my trainers tell me to do less cardio I show them your videos and pictures. You’re always moving forward 😍😍😍😍😍
Hey Nick! I’m proud of you for going after another PB at CIM after Last man standing. Your a true inspiration for me to keep pushing thru the challenges. I’m your Dad’s age and a customer of yours for a few years now and have following your U Tube videos. Watching you and Jeff Cunningham has helped me tremendously. I would like to say in a humble way since I’m no where near your paces that I would like to see you challenge yourself to work for a 2:40 time instead of a 2:45. You already know that you Already have it in you for the 2:45 time, but a 2:40 maybe a bigger challenge. Not saying you can’t, but it would be more inspiring to hear your thoughts. Your all about challenging yourself. I know 2:45 is already in the bank with your expectations. Please consider giving 2:40 a try. Thanks.
I ran CIM a couple years ago. It’s a fast course. It’s overall down hill and the spectators and towns you run through help you GO ONE MORE! Good luck on your prep! 👊
No doubt Tom! To be honest Tom I live in myrtle beach area hot and humid also. And I noticed i just joined the gym 2 months ago and have been doing most of my runs and long runs indoors . And now I notice when I ran outside my pace is even faster in the heat humidity . I been able to do more mileage indoors while keeping heart rate low and strength training and it’s helped my pace and speed alot outside
Happy birthday to the BABY BEAR CHARLIE! Excited to see the next chapter of marathon prep vlogs- also, can you make a video on your current recovery routine of being a hybrid athlete?
Not sure if you are going for win or marketing effort at the Last man standing. You are running too fast and need to practice slower miles in 10-12 min range. This way you can run by feel the slower loops. You could be running for 2+ days for a win. The van looks awesome. I hope you cruise it in Georgetown not only in downtown.
Oregonian here, done hood to coast twice!! Be sure to pack meals, snacks won’t cut it to fuel you properly, and bring tons of water and electrolytes. Legit question for you. For a nutrition company owner, how come your meal prep never looks particularly nutritious? Covered in sauce, wheres the veg man?
No wayyy. Im running the CIM this year too! I finally decided to start running after the last year or two of watching your videos. Going to be my first marathon!
Thats a huge goal Nick. I ran CIM last year, is a great race, i loved. This prep will help me a lot to my prep for January that I´m running again a Marathon and i´m going for my PR too.
Jeff seems like a good coach but can’t help but feel he’s always spitting out random bs. He said in other words easier to go from 2:45 to 2:40 then 4 something to 2:40… of course it is lol.
Hi. Can someone tell me what shoes does he use to run in his videos. And are they considered good for running on concrete, if not what are the best shoes for concrete. I’m fairly new to running but I’m loosing to much time in transportation to avoid concrete so I’ll start running on the city.
Hey Nick! Excited for another marathon build, it’s how I found you initially! I am curious, though - after Buffalo I recall you saying you felt much better after the build when you could increase body weight a bit - what’s driving this new prep? Also, it’s SO great to see Jeff again, love that guy. Thanks and all the best!
Came here to say this. He said in videos and on podcasts that for Buffalo he had to cut a lot of weight and some muscle and that he didn't feel good being that thin. I could be wrong but won't he have to do the same, if not more, to be sub 2:45? Wishing him the best and if he's training with Jeff again he'll be in good hands.

Nick’s chosen the easiest marathon in the States. The elevation is at a decline from start to finish. He’ll easily beat the 3 mins extra he needs for a PB. Hardly challenging.
He won’t cos his heart rate he claims is not accurate. Like he claims he trained using Maffetone but there is not evidence of this on his videos. Just makes himself seem knowledgable. Before Jeff his female trainer told him to slow down so that’s evidence there.
Hopefully this means Nick Bare will be going back to do the Austin Marathon, where I believe his best time is 3:24:00 As for the CIM marathon, geez, looking at the elevation map (or rather, de-elevation map) seems it's downhill all the way. Ever since he failed to run a sub-3H at the Austin marathon he really is picking the easier marathons to achieve his goals, first the Buffalo marathon and now the CIM marathon. Nice way to go Nick.
