My personal story behind this song:
At the time this video was uploaded I was 22 years old. Ever since I was a kid I was obsessed with old electronics and older music. I was the only kid in elementary school who knew what 78s are =P . I first heard this song when I was 12. I had just gotten a reel to reel player and my Aunt gave me old reels she had taped from the radio. She lived in Brooklyn at the time. Well, I was going through them and inbetween two songs I heard 52 seconds of this song. It really caught my attention. I asked her if she knew who it was by and she couldn't remember. Same responses from other family members. I then recorded the clip to my computer and began posting on forums. With no responses I let the post go for years without checking. Well, three weeks ago my post popped into my head and I started crawling forums again. I ran across two posts that had the complete lyrics. The lyrics helped because they let me know that they were searching for the same song I was. I then ran across a version where a French artist recorded his own version with the title "Brooklyn USA." Thanks to Wikipedia I was able to find a list of songs about Brooklyn. In that list there was a song titled "Brooklyn (aka Brooklyn USA) by Wizz." I took a chance and went to GEMM.com and looked up any vinyl by Wizz and BAM there was Brooklyn! I ordered it last week and it finally arrived today. I am happy to say it is the exact song I've been searching for over the past years! Here it is for everyone else to enjoy!

WOW and old throw back from when Brooklyn was God's Country ! Now it's unrecognizable ! My Brooklyn is gone 😢
rememeber this from the 70's playing from my Dads bedroom radio every morning...miss you Dad...
I can't believe it!! I haven't heard this song in at least 38 yrs.' My sister had the Forty-Five record with green label and it was stereo on one side and mono on the other! I played it so much.. I was born in NY and that is why I liked it so much. Thank you so much for putting this on You Tube it really brought back memories!
superb song brings back many memories
I am an amateur musician with a knack for hearing a melody once and, if I really like it, remembering it for many years. I heard this song once on the radio, (probably in 1973) and the basic melody has been with me ever since. Thanks so much for posting this video. I will be back many times to make up for lost time.
Love this campy tune. Remember it from my childhood in the '70's. I used to have themed birthdays. One year, the theme was "Brooklyn". My mom got a bunch of free stuff - I believe from the Brooklyn Chamber of Congress. And this 45 was played over and over.
I was born in Brooklyn, then I emigrated to the USA! 🤪😆🥰
Great memories of this song.
This song - Brooklyn - was originally released on Scepter Records under the artist names Cliff & Marty! Scepter actually made promo T-shirt’s, their 1st, to send to radio!
One of the NYC radio stations would play this song on Brooklyn/Queens Day in June a few years ago.
Have been looking for this for AGES - but I wasn't sure of the full and correct title OR who the artists were. Just happened to try looking again on a whim at 2am this morning and here it is! Myself and a few others were taught the lyrics and sang this for an assembly at our elementary school back in 1973 or 1974. They dressed us in little sailor suits and we concluded the song by making a "pop" with 1 finger in the side of our mouths at the end!
I remember walking through A&S department store in downtown Brooklyn in 1973. They were playing it in the music department. I immediately bought a copy I loved it. Still do. Thanks for posting it!
Just sent this song to a new mom who named her baby Brooklyn. If she's the sort to sing her child to sleep, this is a good tune for it.
WNEW 1130 used to play this song on the radio in 1973...A clip of this was used in a radio commercial back then as well..Thanks for posting!
Been over 30 years since I heard this good olkd song. Thanks for posting
I used to play this song on the radio when I went to Brooklyn College. I haven't heard it in over 20 years. Thank you.
This was our curtain music for Arsenic and Old Lace two months ago. I'm so happy to find this. Thank you for posting this!
Checking out the channels and boom...WHAT!!!!!???????? I made a song for mom, going back to Brooklyn, maybe a year ago.. And yes. It's posted. I just can't believe there are songs out there like that. Well, why shouldn't there be, Frank Sinatra's Song is my Jam *AAAAAAnnnnnnd* Yankee stadium plays it every single day!!!! Yeah. I could here it clear across the river. Yes. I remember. But this song is soooooooo coooool!!!! LOOOOVEEEEE IIIITTTT!!!! Thanks. Thanks so much!!
Born and raised in Park Slope. What a fun song. I first heard this on the radio as a teenager and never forgot it. Haven't heard it again in decades. So glad to have found it after so many years! Would LOVE to get this digitally for mp3.
I haven't heard this tune since 1973....thanks for posting this delightful ditty that had a "Roaring 20s sound." This tune clearly influenced Robert Lamm of Chicago on his 1975 hit, "harry Truman."
omg....I been wondering what ever happened to this song...we sang it all the time many years ago!!! thanks 4 sharing an oldie but goodie....hugsssRita ~ from bay ridge brooklyn...lol
Thanks for a great post. I've had this song in my head since 1973 when they used to play it at a club called Gazebo all the time but I could never find it.
Nice! I had a vague memory of this after hearing this exactly once, when an NYC news program ran it with shots from around Brooklyn, somewhere around the time that song came out. It was earworm for me over the many years since. Happy to finally hear it again.
Like so many, I have searched without success for this song. I remember the later part of 1973 all too well. I heard this song on Grandpa's radio, not knowing he'd be gone by the end of the year. No record store near him had it, and he was the one most likely to get me 45's. Then he was gone, and the song was off the charts. I only heard it once from then till this day, and that was on WPAT radio in Paterson, NJ, now long gone. Thanks for bringing this back.
I heard this a long time ago on WPAT, but knew nothing else about it until just a little while ago.
@@rmazzella5303 Yes, it was one of two songs I heard on WPAT that I found after almost impossible quests. the other was "It Feels like Christmas," by the Lettermen.
Thank you so much for posting. I'd been searching for the song as well!
Couldn't find this anywhere! Thanks!

Yes, I heard it on WOR; and I once called them up to find out who it was by. They did say by The Wiz" (never realized ti was spelled WizZ!!). Will try ordering it from GEMM.com as well!! My day is made!!

This is a standard play on WPLJ's morning show for years and years.
Heard this song a while ago on 1560 WQEW
Where can I find a copy of this song....Ive been looking for it for YEARS
WNEW AM 1130 for me.
Good job.
This is George, using my daughter's RUclips account. I was one of the people who posted (almost) the entire lyrics. I had this '45 at one point, but I was off by few years - I thought it was closer to 1976, when I was 10. It was ridiculously hard to find the artist. Never heard this song on the radio.
It's superb that you as a younger guy appreciate the older technologies and music.
Übrigens habe ich allerlei Obst gern. Kannst Du auch Deustch?
Muito top 👍
wow I love this song, do you think I can use for a documentary about Brooklyn that I'm doing?Do you think there is a rights on this song?
@dasobst Can you post it or make it availalbe on mp3 form? Thanks again.
Hi, Do you know what is on the other side of that 45? I remember another song....
One side is the stereo version and the other side is mono.
The stock copy has "Hold Out For Love" on the b-side!
