  • EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER Singles (12 * 7” vinyl) BMG
Here BMG have pulled together 12 45s some world-wide variations, and each issued in a picture sleeve and on coloured vinyl, there’s also a booklet (intro by Carl Palmer) and some colour card prints. So upon opening the box you immediately get a feel of a wonderful package. BMG have previously issued similar packages for the likes of Black Sabbath, all proving that the format lends itself as much to feel and visual angles.
The albums have been reissued many times but this package showcases the 7” 45 format perfectly,
Emerson Lake & Palmer took prog rock in a grandiose direction and the packaging does that justice; there is as much to enjoy in unpackaging the box as there is listening to the music. And if you’re fan of either band or the format, that makes this set a perfect addition to the collection.
Sadly Keith Emerson and Greg Lake are no longer with us, but Carl Palmer continues to honour the legacy.
As a vinyl and music fan, I would love to see more sets like this.

ELP were the standard for musicianship that all other groups were measured by back in the early seventies I have all of this especially since I've been listening to them since 1970😊 but I still appreciate you spreading the word on the greatest musicians ever especially in a rock band

Way overdue for R&R Hall of Fame; Met Keith Emerson 2x - My all-time 'rock music' hero, and inspiration to practice piano 10 hrs a day!!! - Always wanted to be just like him; Very nice overview of the release (This is my 1st time watching your channel)

Lovely item. Well done BMG, for a change. $100 on import for a collection of 7" singles that I'll never play isn't going to happen, even though it's worth it, but they've done an outstanding job on this and that deserves credit. Really nice overview, thanks Phil.

Hi Chris, not for everyone but as you say it has been put together well and for ELP completists far to tempting to pass by. Phil :)

Yep, ELP absolutely a favourite band, got everything. But...when this was announced my instant reaction was, oh dear, they really are milking the cash cow for us die hards. I really appreciate this video to see the what's in the box and have to admit it's a beautiful item very nicely done but will I buy it...I still don't think so unfortunately, would love it but think I could spend the money elsewhere. Then again, a lovely Xmas present for someone to buy me, ha ha

Hi Phil...just returned from A New Day Festival in Kent and this year's discovery was a band from The Czech Republic called CUPRUM. The music is a mixture of Tull, Focus and Camel and were very well received. They sing in their native tongue but may be of interest. Very 70's retro.

ELP is my all-time favorite band, but this is a hard pass for me. I already have all this music in physical media, including the original pressing of "I Believe in Father Christmas" (the Greg Lake version, without Emerson and Palmer with "Humbug" on the B-side). The ELP version is on one of the CD box sets and as a single I already have. I have Return of the Manticore, From the Manticore Vaults (the official bootlegs), all the Record Store Day ELP releases, all the compilation CDs, live CDs, etc.
If I were to get this box, it would be just to admire not to play. I'd play the music on the records and CDs I already own.
That's the reason I didn't get the Fanfare box. I already have all the vinyl LPs and all the CDs with the Steven Wilson remixes and the extra tracks.
Additionally, I have all of Greg Lake's releases on LP and CD including a clear vinyl of his live album with Gary Moore, plus the same live album on CD with Lake's autograph.
Phil, that was a nice review, though. I agree with you that this would be a nice introduction to ELP for young people. 😊

Hi Laura, thank you for watching. I think this is very much a luxury item for the ELP fans that wants everything. I do know the 2nd pressing of the Fanfare Box Set was taken up my younger fans who had missed out on the first run. Phil :)

My favorite ELP song is "Tarkus", but my favorite ELP album is "Trilogy".
"Brain Salad Surgery" has great songs, but I'm not a fan of the engineering. Something was lost by not having Eddie Offord at the board.

Would you push the call button next to your bed and have the nurse bring you your medication? You need a lot of sleep and the nurse will unlock your door in the morning and bring you your Fruity Pebbles with your Fred Flintstone bowl and Spoon. Who knows you may even get supervised walks down the corridor😅

@edljnehan2811 Ed, go play in traffic, will you. Every person doesn't have an opinion whether you agree with it or not. Lol, I'm sure you're a vexed led Zeppelin fan who thinks no band was ever better, lol 😆 rock on 🤘 brother

@@barryrammer7906 okay I'll play in traffic as long as you're on your knees blowing me while I do. For your information I'm a huge Emerson Lake and Palmer fan probably the biggest one on the planet I've seen every concert they've ever done in the 70s including 1971 when yes open for them 1974 Brain Salad Surgery 1977 when Journey open for them again in 1977 and in 1978. I've also seen them about 20 times in the following decades. I've also seen Led Zeppelin a long with about a hundred other bands including the who Grand Funk Black Sabbath Alice Cooper bloodrock budgie the strawbs King Crimson Wet Willie Slade Black Oak Arkansas Kansas Star Castle Blue Oyster Cult Uriah Heep mahogany rush Montrose Jeff Beck the mahavishnu orchestra Return to Forever Dave weckl shooting star Black Oak Arkansas Slade Head East Iron Butterfly Deep Purple Montrose dust Metal Church Metallica Joe Satriani Steve Vai JoJo gun Gary Wright Jefferson Airplane Ted Nugent gypsy Styx Steve Morse Focus Genesis and that's just the tip of the iceberg. I grew up in a city with a great underground progressive rock radio station so I got an early education. Who was my favorite Emerson Lake and Palmer check out my comment before you make a stupid remark

@@barryrammer7906 oh I forgot Rush on their first visit to St Louis in 1974 it was at Forest Park they backed up Charlie Daniels there were 80,000 people and the concert was free courtesy of radio station KSHE no one had even heard of Neil Peart back then of course you can Google the concert if you have the brains to do that
