Learned of Telemann when I was 12 and was enchanted hearing his music for the first time live 53 years ago. Telemann was played instead of the wedding March when I married my wonderful husband. Today I am listening to Telemann pre-op. I am so grateful to have this majestic music woven thru my life. He left us a gift that brings heaven to earth
Telemann was loved and revered by both JS Bach and Handel as a composer and a friend. He was the most sought-after musician in Europe and commanded the highest salary during his tenure. He is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the most prolific composer in history. Bach only got his job in Leipzig after the authorities had to "settle" for him after Telemann said no thanks. As a professional attorney, he also founded the musical society of which Bach and others later became members. Handel and Telemann were exuberant pen pals and shared a mutual love for flowers and botany, sending each other rare bulbs. JS Bach loved Telemann so much he made him godfather to his son Carl Phillip Emmanuel. What an incredible guy he must have been!
Telemann has always been one of my favorite composers, along with Handel and Bach. It gives me pleasure to know that he was successful in his own day and didn't starve in a garret. I understand that Telemann was lauded by his contemporaries for possessing that virtue so admired in the 18th century, remaining cheerful at all times despite the ups and downs of life. He needed it, because Frau Telemann, after bearing some 10-11 children, ran off with a Captain of Dragoons 20 years younger than herself, leaving T with the kids. I remember this story from KUSC some 30 years ago, Bonnie Grice, one of my favorite classical music hosts, but I do not know the source.
Paul, you get it: Your summing up of Telemann excels! As Sir Arthur Hutchings opined, " . . . Telemann might be thought a subtle artist, whose profundities are not revealed to dullards." Who would dare call Handel or Bach a dullard?! For that matter, neither were Telemann's many patrons!

@@ubangis1 I really enjoyed Master and Commander, it makes me think of my late father - I gave him one of the Patrick O'Brian books in the series - first time my Dad had read fiction in years, and he read most if not all of the series before he died, with this trusted dictionary by his side.
These are the magnificent concerts for trumpet composed by one of the most talented, sublime and musical musicians that ever lived, especially for this instrument. The music are amazing with a grace, elegance and beauty incomparable. These masterpieces are unforgettable for everyone who listened this superb and divine music. Thanks for this remarkable recording where the interpretation and direction are true musical pearls.

Dear Helen, I am 82.Near 30 years I have devoted myself to study Western European Melos, dating back to the 11th century. Almost every day, listening to music, I suddenly discover some Spiritual Secrets pleasing the soul. Georg Telemann is one of the best coposers I love !I would like to correspond with you. @@sylvianorthrup1112 oh yes, I wish that too !!! If it sounds so incredibly majestically beautiful here on earth, how must it sound in heaven !? unimaginable, I'm already looking forward to it !!!
I MUST speak out. The trumpet for which Telemann and all pre-Haydn composers wrote had an EXTREMELY limited set of playable notes. This concerto is so beautifully written as to deceive, in that regard. The opening adagio ought to be recognized as a masterpiece, alone: It is unique, among Baroque efforts, and only because Telemann's genius is modestly concealed, therein -- by making a lyrical melody feel so natural, when its technical limitations are the opposite. The finale is a symbol of transcendence, the like of which is timeless! No one who grasps the beauty of musical symbols can fail to weep, when the trumpet sings its thema in the dominant. That musical statement ought to give us all new will to live!
I have always had a ear for classical music and to have over three hours puts me in heaven. Thank you for being and making my life more tolerable. Philip
WOW I can't "2nd enough" ol' Phil & his exquisite sentiments, as this has the exact same glorious, blissful influence on my own stressful, troubled life! Hear HEARRRR!!!!
Not quite! Telemann, like Bach, was influenced by a overwhelming belief in a deity. Whether there is a bearded man who lives somewhere in the sky and controls the universe is open to question.
What a productive composer, this Telemann! Together with the other great Baroque composers, he set the universal emotional value of the trumpet, cementing its religious power as the most convincing voice of the Gods.
It is such a joy to hear these concertos performed on piccolo trumpet. It seems now anything baroque is done on period instruments and tempos set at presto.
JK I get it. His balance, rhythm, melodic skills (even with the constraints of Baroque brass!) is unparalleled, and somehow so simple and basic. The definition of Baroque genius.
Fabrizio De André, famous italian songwriter, was inspired by the beginning of this first Telemann concert for his song "La canzone dell'amore perduto"
In my younger years, I used to listen to only pop - as I have become older (and have been able to afford high end DAC/AMP desktop set-up, with high end IEM's) I find this classical music (in this case featuring trumpet) has so much dimension - if you like to listen intently (not background music !) this music is so therapeutic, so relaxing, so rewarding - thank you for quality sound upload *

@@bachkirche Bach was born in 1685. He came later among the ones Mr Muniz-Brown listed. He was a culminating genius but he built on the foundations the others provided with their genius.
I had a Professor of History who played Harpsichord ( then came Clavichord, and then Pianoforte, which we now call just " piano." It has 88 Black and White keys. ACCEPT the " Superior Grand"made in Germany by a company called " BOSENDORFER."This piano by BOSENDORFER has 96 black & white keys. When you sit at the Superior Grand and play loudly it sounds like Dynamite exploding! Michael McClary, Professor of Trumpet ( Ret.)
Addendum:My Professor HATED Telemann' s music. He would say to me:. " Teleman......I don't even like the way he wrote his name!!! Vincent Corrigan, Prof. Emeritus, Bowling Green State University College of Musical Arts. 1975 AD
According to Music History, Telemann was considered the greatest composer of the Baroque Era which spanned about 170 years, 1600-1770. Even he had a very sad part of his life. His first wife died young and his second wife is reported to been a spendthrift who drove Telemann into debt and also was adulterously promiscuous. Telemann couldn't cope with her at all.
Music is a 10. Trumpet illustration is lacking some things. The ring goes on the 3rd slide. There are slides. There are also top and bottom valve caps. There is a second slide (usually; it's short enough that one bright spark shoved the tubing inside the second valve). That ring goes on the third slide, to move it out for notes that involve all three valves, to correctly lower the pitch of those notes. There is a mouthpiece. Musical notes are upright sorts. These ones seem to be falling down drunk.

Music like this makes us realize that we are living on the outskirts
of humanity.
I think humanity has been pushed to the outskirts of homo sapiens, a war-like, rapacious, genetic aberration.
Pure joy. It's interesting how prolific was baroque in quality and quantity of music (and not just music; don't forget architecture, etc., etc.).
regal that wind is that introduces us...... to the humbled one s... bowing ...... to that grace ..... we are born to adore... that make us aspire to b e more..... what all dreams are ..... that live come true ...
absolutamente delicioso, gracias.
The diversity of Telemann’s music, like his longevity, is nothing short of amazing
G. P Telemann presents three SUBLIME hours of a divinely inspired music!
Here is my e-mail : tepmich@gmail.com Tepper Michael.
When I am inducted into Heaven (er...I mean If) the Angels will be playing this !
I could not have been more "inspired"! And all the music you have presented! GOOD LUCK!
@@sylvianorthrup1112 oh yes, I wish that too !!! If it sounds so incredibly majestically beautiful here on earth, how must it sound in heaven !? unimaginable, I'm already looking forward to it !!!
@@AvoLili - Is there proof of such an event taken place after one's demise? Yet, it does not hurt to believe in this illusion.
These trumpet concertos by Telemann are simply sublime and magnificent.
I weep at the beauty of this realization. It discloses aesthetic truth.
I weep along with you.
Echoes of the divine.
Thank you for your professorial insight and instruction! I would have been totally incapable of it!
Spot on, and beautifully put!
Reading your note while listening gave me chills!
Thank you so much! I for one really appreciate hearing from the experts.
I really appreciate this explanation.
I have always had a ear for classical music and to have over three hours puts me in heaven. Thank you for being and making my life more tolerable. Philip
A true music god named Philip M
Please reply or translate your response, thanks I appreciate it.
But Telemann music was not Classical, but Baroque.
listening to this music does not just make life tolerable, it makes it magical!
WOW I can't "2nd enough" ol' Phil & his exquisite sentiments, as this has the exact same glorious, blissful influence on my own stressful, troubled life! Hear HEARRRR!!!!
Sparkling and full of joy - Telemann's music was certainly a gift from God Almighty!
Not quite! Telemann, like Bach, was influenced by a overwhelming belief in a deity. Whether there is a bearded man who lives somewhere in the sky and controls the universe is open to question.
Utterly beautiful; my heart melts, and my soul climbs the stratosphere !
One of the best, if not the the best trumpet concertos ever heard. Love Telemann!
!!!
I am listening to this music while drinking a hot cup of tea on a dark, rainy, chilly early evening. It is just right for the mood and comfort.
What a productive composer, this Telemann! Together with the other great Baroque composers, he set the universal emotional value of the trumpet, cementing its religious power as the most convincing voice of the Gods.
What a beautiful #digital visual. And wonderful music.
Brilliant
It is such a joy to hear these concertos performed on piccolo trumpet. It seems now anything baroque is done on period instruments and tempos set at presto.
So beautiful!! Telemann is amazing.
There's just something about Telemann that really does it for me.
He was not only inspired he took an all movement to compose his song.
¡¡¡Divino!!!

I did not expect this beauty of sounds, of music, from trompet...it is so harmonious and so ennobling...divine...
ABSOLUTELY FANTABULOUS!

Telemarn!! I love listing ! My soul relex!!! Thanks
Das ist super schöne Musik. 👍👍👍
G.P.Telemann was always a little more intense than his contemporaries with an ear for more in depth content. Brilliant! Thanks for the upload.
Ever heard of a guy named Johann Sebastian Bach?
@@bachkirche Bach was born in 1685. He came later among the ones Mr Muniz-Brown listed. He was a culminating genius but he built on the foundations the others provided with their genius.
He actually was a contemporary of Bach, as well as Godfather to one of his sons. The most amazing fact to me is that he was self-educated in music....
Was ist, ist, und gut... 💖
I just enjoyed it. Great Telemann. Thank you, again.
1975 AD
Most Musicians like Teleman and Vivaldi BETTER than BACH! Bach is too damned busy! Michael McClary, Professor of Trumpet, 1978-2015 AD

Bravissimo!
Very lovely and enchanting thank you very very much! cheers!

Magnifique musique de Teleman
Music is a 10.
Trumpet illustration is lacking some things. The ring goes on the 3rd slide. There are slides. There are also top and bottom valve caps. There is a second slide (usually; it's short enough that one bright spark shoved the tubing inside the second valve). That ring goes on the third slide, to move it out for notes that involve all three valves, to correctly lower the pitch of those notes. There is a mouthpiece. Musical notes are upright sorts. These ones seem to be falling down drunk.
