To me this video gave survivor ship bias. We only see one perspective (Scott) of one of those survivor’s matches. We don’t even get to see their end of what they see, or feel. We don’t even know if they had the epileptic clouds of mist that keep occurring even outside of the basement for people.
I just think this gotta be scrapped. I could see if it was a major healthy patch with no bugs, and you personally see more DCs. But come on. One of the worst patches since the Twins update overall, and we ask “Why DC???” 😂. Like… 7.7.0 has been smooth for you? I’d love that luxury if so.

To add some context, I noticed bugs, rubberbanding, and stuttering right at the start of matches. Someone giving up right at the start could be them feeling demoralized from the get-go, knowing the frustrating experience they're about to face due to the ongoing bugginess of the latest patch that has been hardly addressed. At this point, I think BHVR should have rolled back this entire patch. I doubt it has much, if anything, to do with pips, though that might be a factor.

They shouldn’t have done a twins patch at the same time as moving to unreal engine 5. Twins chapter is notorious for being one of, if not THE, buggiest chapters ever released. Should’ve expected it to be a problem when it got updated. The stress of going to UE5 also would have predictably caused issues. Sorry fellas but the Chucky patch was their last hurrah. Even if they got more licensed killers or survivors it's obvious that they never have a concrete plan or priorities because 1/2 of the things they put in a roadmap get delayed, changed, scrapped, or they do it, realize how dumb it is, then walk back on it and nothing gets done. Billy gets overdrive because he missed his chainsaw on a survivor 4 times: "oh, you got outplayed 4 times? Here, take this buff to every single power stat". Chucky takes no skill whatsoever to play, trickster is now 4.6 (doesn't need to be smart about wind ups on loops) and needs to miss 36 knives out of 44 to not take a health state, xenomorph is a lose lose situation (at least there's some kind of skill expression with the arc tail thing). Huntress is super forgiving with faster windup and so many hatchets without giving up on an addon slot. They've been going on a mindless direction, there's no skill expression anymore, you don't feel like you outplayed your enemy as a killer and you don't get rewarded for the right plays as survivor. I think the answer is more in the middle: a game should be easy to pick, but deep enough to get mastered to add replayability. The feeling of learning something new and adding new tools and stuff to your basic notions everyday. I make the example of me with Tekken 8 (even if I took a break from it): I picked up Nina, started with the basic combos, bad defense. Now I'm a bit more defensive and try to play for punishes, frame traps, mindgames with my moves and command grabs. I'm still at a low level, but it's a higher level than yesterday: I learnt something and I want to learn more by keep playing. This is how playing some killers felt before, or even some survivor stuff. Like, a game shouldn't be "only for veterans" or it never grows, but it also shouldn't be too easy to pick up with no deep mechanics to explore, learn and master in the long time.

Nothing worse than loading into a match in solo queue and realizing that due to factors completely out of your control, you're doomed to lose and even if you play it out, you'll end up with 10k BP at most.
Personally I'd point to a lot of killer changes that at the very least make that side a lot more consistent (Meta slowdown builds, etc), with solo queue still being as miserable as day one, aside from the action indicators, which in some cases just tell you that nobody's doing gens during your 3 minute chase.

They want to be able to joke around, hide, escape every match, do tome stuff or whatever. Which personally, I think is the mode for that. I dont play Solo Queue Survivor for that exact reason, I already know what to expect, so I don't entertain it.
I wish folks would only count playing with friends as a way to play DBD, Solo que will always be a horrid experience because you have to depend on random people to work for more than just themselves.
I've learned from OW2 and NBA 2K, that players just dont care about the team, only their own fun or goals during the game. I stopped playing 2K, and I'm close to ending my OW2 career as well. Teamwork is foreign to a lot of people, which is funny because we all work a job where we are a part of a team in some way or form.
I think BHVR should stop focusing on Solo Que, and balance the game around SWFs. Solo is a lost cost, and hurts Killers due to over nerfing strats, powers and perks due to Solo Que players getting left to dry by teammates who DC or just stop playing.

I'm going to guess that there's a feeling of spiteful jadedness that relates heavily to certain killers. Anything that's "not fun", "uncounterable", "sweaty" - bearing in mind, the opinions on each of these vary. Obvious, but then two key points I'll add to this:
One is that it can carry across games. I think having killers like Skull Merchant and 4-slowdown Blights around can make someone more likely to become annoyed *next* game as well as their current one. Second, it's very possible that the Twins rework kind of caused this stuff to hit a tipping point. There's now so many killers on the roster that have been left in a less fun state that people are carrying their ire across their whole night.
A third thought is, continuing off of this frustration could be a group of players that feel they can't have fun (fun being flashlight saves and dumb techs that make it big on Twitch) against good killers. So, they're now more frequently trying to smurf their MMR so they can go against baby Huntresses. I admit, though, that last theory doesn't really tie into timing very well.

its kind of unrelated, but the amount of just awful awful things to go against seems to only ever increase, back when i remember having the most fun with dbd the most frustrating things were, nurse and gen grab spirit basically everything else it felt like you individually in chase had a real meaningful impact.
All the killers up to oni's release are so much more fun to face than the ones after him (Exceptions being wesker, "sometimes" blight, unknown)
It feels like a switch got flipped in their design, the amount of killers that put you in situations where there is no way you can actually outplay them you *will* get hit, it might be slow, but its innevitible or they have gameplay styles that bore you to tears.
I know it sound like rose tinted glasses, but i find the first half of the killer releases so much more fun, since most of them have to do something "fair" to get you. If i get hit by a hatchet, i can reasonable come up with a play i could have made to avoid it, or avoid doctors shock, get a stun on plague during her power, play safe during onis power etc etc etc, if skull merchant drops a drone, im shit out of luck if there isn't a connected tile

If the killer succesfully tunnels someone out of the match before the second gen pops. I'm out sorry. You want the win that bad; take it.
I dont want to prove a miraculous come back in a highly doomed game. Especially if it's an anti looper. This lately happens a lot . I'm probably tanking mmr and find the killers i go against aren't fantastic but it's the teammates that are drooling. Can't run the killer for shit, can't evade, go for trades or hookbomb into tunelling and play risky dead on hook yet can't justify it. I think the problem is there just isn't killers that are terrible enough for my teammates to ever win. They know not to chase me until I'm last and even when I'm gen jockey the chase durations of my teammates are tiringly short. Perhaps I need to try harder but most of the time I don't get chased and the killer knows to leave. I almost never see someone who can actually run the killer.
I go into every game like I go into league of legends. I intend to win until it's clear it's an ff. Dbd has a great surrender mechanic therefore I use it.

Wraith has a reputation of being the most toxic killer AND the most tryhard killer in terms of the behavior of your average main. I know the second I see a wraith I just assume I am going to get hard tunneled, hit on hook, and perhaps even 'teabagged' (the humping thing) and he's gonna run 4 gen slowdown perks and play like his entire family will be executed if he doesn't 4k. Even if you don't do it, almost all other Wraith players do so you will be treated like you're one of them even if you aren't. It's guilty until proven guilty with Wraith. Same shit as a frosty eyes Trapper.
That's my best explanation. TL;DR - Wraith mains are some of the most irredeemable degenerates in the game, and if you play Wraith you will be assumed to be one of them. Anecdotally, this shit hasn't been happening to me and I play fucking LEGION of all characters. I have no explanation for people DCing against anything other than Wraith except Plague who is an accessibility issue. 3k hour survivor main who mostly plays soloq, plenty of reasons I do it a fair bit, DBD is such an unserious game I don't think its a problem.
    - Taking a chase for 2-3 mins getting hooked and then the killer somehow downs out 1-2 players on your team before you've been on hook 5 seconds
    - Getting hooked and simply seeing the 3 other survivors too far away / not doing gens
    - Ranged killers aren't fun 50/50 every pallet, huntress hitboxes. Good ones will just bait ability and m1, FUCK XENO
    - Anti Loop killers (Artist, Knight, Skull Merchant) get better at killer movement and mindgames instead of playing antiloop killers
    - Taking a hit because of bad ping regardless of how winnable the game was
    - Survivors didn't head nod back
The idea that survivors kill themselves because a game is unwinnable makes no sense to me you cant go into soloq as survivor wanting to escape. Its about how much fun you have before you die usually. Survivor is so much less fun nowadays it became less about the chase, killers have too many tools to get downs with 0 counter play, I believe the essence of this game is the m1 stalk chase you down killer key word "chase", Jason(Trapper), Freddie, Michael, Pig, Bubba, Ghostface etc... the direction they took with ranged, antiloop killed survivor fun imo, its fine to help counter SWF gen rushers but most of the new killers are so boring to play against. Hey new player here(150 hours survivor/killer), I think I know where the problems is for new survivors at least. The problem is that most of survivors dont want to play with some killers because they had bad experience or dont know how to counter them. For me and my friends whenever we see a clown killer we immediately group up and let him kill us because we find him boring and obnoxious to play against. We want to have fun against killers we like and know how to play against, not to learn this game like full time job. Same as wraith(and other stealth killers) some people want to be on gen not woriing if someone is around them and can kill them in one hit or body block them and give them a free hit. I think there is a solution but it will lead to more problems on the killer side. The solution is give the survivor to pick which killers to play against. DBD isnt a horror game it is a competitive game, and like in other competitive games, I feel like there should be a pick/ban system (like Rainbow Six Siege...).
Pros: -survivor will DC less because they will have control of which killer they play against and if they want to learn how to play against another killer they can queue up with only him to practice
Cons: -some killers will have such a small survivor player pool that it will take ages to queue
-if they finally manage to queue they will probably queue with a survivor squad that have many hours and know how to counter his killer very well so every game they will need to try hard
I love to hear thoughts on this. Have a nice day.

As a killer, i noticed that these days i quitted far more than i've ever done. I usually never dc but yesterday i did it 3x, and other games i just stayed at the corner and waited them to get out, and all of them had NOTHING WITH BUGS, it was because i knew it was a lost match and most of them was also because it seemed like everything that i've done or could do is and would be just useless. I don't think killers would dc just because of a little moment of bug, even if he dcs after one, he probably was not good before already. And i'm just tired, if i don't tunnel i end getting gen rush, if i do they have many perks that can protect it + ds again, etc... also 3 health bars, they can just insta heal and these moments just make me wanna go "aight i'm not doing this sh anymore"

I've never seen people just give up right off the start.
I personally like more casual matches so I will also die on hook if I get a jacked up nurse who is on me within seconds of the game starting.

    start DBD
Check Shrine of Secrets (nothing interesting)
    Click on killer, go back
    Click on survivor, go back
    Leave the game without playing
It took 5 years, but I really grew tired of DBD, there's just no fun left. Nobody is scared anymore, you can't play meme builds without getting bullied, survivor is an unending stream of bullshit moves by the killer and braindead teammates, every killer I want to play is either boring (hag, xeno) or painfuly outdated and weak (Shape, Saddako, Trapper), the maps feel lifeless after the vidual rework that removed their 80s/90s horror movie style.

The times I quit is because I can sense that the match is already lost.
Knowing that the average kill rate stands at 60%, if I get a killer who knows how to play (above average), the chances of me not escaping are very high.
So, if I see multiple downs at 5 gens, why should I bother playing a lost game, at best I might get hatch by hiding the rest of the game.
You can test this theory by playing like a baby killer, and see how often survivors quit your match.

because surv has been nerfed into oblivion, in terms of strength, but mainly fun. there is no in game within the game anymore, its either gen rush go next bc this killer isnt fun or killer is slaughtering the team from the get go. people have adopted the comp mindset after so much exposure from content creators, everything is about efficiency, which it always has; but at the current rate its sucking the fun out the game.
chase is where the fun is at, with map changes and every new killer change heavily favoring antiloop and shift W instead of mindgames and raw chase skill. survivor skill expression feels like its being abolished and the uphill climb for new players to even begin becomes more unattainable.
its exactly how killers felt a few years prior when survivor was the overwhelming power role. the role has def flipped

I tried whatever I could to help them, but I couldn't save them. I immediately lost the will to play that match and went to the killer to hook me.
And when this keeps happening, and carries over many matches over days, weeks, months, then the slightest inconvenience makes you not wanna play the game. It's not players overreacting over an isolated single event of facing a Wraith. The whole picture needs to be looked at.

I've come back to Dead by Daylight within the past week, week 'n a half after almost 4 months taking my break from Dead by Daylight due to this very issue. It's rather frustrating from both sides of a perspective to really play the game at times because of people next game on hook is my biggest problem. It has even thrown games entirely for me, friends, and others I match with even if the match was going beyond smoothly. Last night as an example gotten 3 gens done, with a fourth gen nearly on the way to being done, and the killer only gotten their second hook. That person was near the corner of the map away from all of us with the gens on the other side (Yamaoka Estate) we were initially set to come out strong, but that person "next game logic" on hook to exit out of the game just because they gotten on hook for the first time. Which wasted two peoples time trying to maneuver around the killer to get the save, they both ended up getting slugged for it and myself being found on the other side of the map causing the killer to get a 4k.
To me this issue does need to be addressed, this isn't something new in my perspective but it has worsened to the point that I can only play with a friend(s) while recruiting any others from the DBD Discord. Which is fine but at the same time I am a big solo and duo queue junkie. I shouldn't need to feel that I have to 4 man swf all the time to just sit down and enjoy some Dead by Daylight.

Billy's that I'll have a ton of fun making the right plays on and that are going for chainsaws only and just having a blast with. Once they finally get me they'll go and get the next survivor and boom, suicide/dc. LIKE WHAT KILLER DO YOU POSSIBLY WANT TO PLAY AGAINST IF NOT HILLBILLY?!?! People have become too accustomed to wanting easier matches. If they get found first, they get upset and if they go down, that's the last straw for them.
Some players absolutely refuse to go against certain Killers -- sure I hate Skull Merchant and Knight, but a reasonable player will at least play the match out until it's gotten to the point of being unwinnable.
Many matches will have at least 1 player who carries a mindset from one of the above points.
Once one player has given up, it makes the match worse for all the other players, so it becomes pointless for them to want to continue and you'll see a DC wave across the Survivor team.
There are also the DCs that happen from players who get BS hits due to the game or some other bug, but I'm not really accounting for those because the problems above have cultivated a "give up unless I know I can win" mentality.

The funny thing is as someone who does this you end up getting players who just refuse to do generators because your rating tanks so much. So I made a rule. If the survivors complete 3 gens before I 8 hook, they get to leave, if they don't the person who I think played the best gets to leave but everyone else dies. Also no slowdowns allowed. Ultimately it's a little boring sometimes and lacking in challenge but its better then playing against toxic sweaty swf and/or bully squads who don't actually want to play the game but just want to make you miserable.

Honestly, the mindset of "it's cool to throw matches against X killer or X play style because why try lol" has lead to people just DCing from anything they can justify.
The Map, the killer regardless of playstyle, certain perks etc.
Which sucks for both sides playing.
Honestly I would rework the DC penalty system to be even more harsh on people who DC often regardless of cause.
The first one is a freebie,
Then within so many matches if you DC you get a timeout that gets longer.
Also take a page from tekken 8s book where in the lobby it shows your DC rate for the season and it would reset with rank reset that way random can see in the lobby if they have a teammate who is a DC piss baby then they can decide if they want to stay in that lobby or leave before the match countdown starts.
Either that or pool high DC players with others who DC often that way players who actually finish matches get likeminded teammates

    • @skeley6776
      @skeley6776 29 дней назад

I dont think the Tekken thing is necessary simply punish people for inting and dcing start weak because shit can always happen and if ur having severe problems that u have to dc/int so many times a temp ban is better for everyone lol.

    • @daviddixon8674
      @daviddixon8674 29 дней назад

@skeley6776 exactly, like yes internet problems exist but I really don't think it happening mid game is as common as people think. And if someone is having issues with internet where they can rarely finish a match then get off the game lol
Also I found a way to solve the "well people will kill themselves on hook"
Have 2nd phase be a timer that fluctuates based on how close the killer is to the hook.
Closer the killer the slower the timer.
On a successful skill check the timer is delayed by a bit instead of you losing a bunch of progress by missing a skill check.
The fact behavior still has a mechanic that allows players to kill themselves and is often used to do that with no alterations is crazy

I don't think that the removal of depipping has much to do with it. People who are so prone to dc'ing or giving up on hook just because they got downed first or go against a killer they don't like, probably don't care about pips anyway and would have done the same in the old system.

  • @jefelipe_
    @jefelipe_ Месяц назад +1

When playing survivor I give up when I see pain res and pop. Instantly. I search for the killer and ask to be put on the hook. These perks activate when you complete 1/12 of your main objective (hooks) and then you get rewarded with gen regression. Buckle up and for the people is annoying, but at least you exchange one downed survivor for two injured. Allowing the combination of these perks is ludicrous. Pop should be reworked to activate after you get a long chase with no results or anything else than rewarding someone who is already winning.

Been playing since 2016 and I definitely noticed a huge uptick in DCs/people killing themselves on hook over the past year while playing solo/duo queue survivor. It genuinely feels like nobody who plays DbD actually wants to play the game. If you don’t enjoy the game, please take a break and quit ruining games for everybody else. I know it’s not a popular opinion but I am absolutely in favor of extremely harsh DC penalties at this point cause it’s getting absolutely ridiculous

Most of the DCs I'm getting are either at the beginning of a match, these are very rare and I attribute them to a bug I got once where I couldn't move my character; or when some bullshit happens, for example: Kate is running, suddenly she stops and starts going again half a second later and gets downed because of it, I attribute these to rubberbanding on their end, since it aalso happens a lot to me as survivor.
And I'll be honest, I played 5 matches of sm today and got 0 dcs/ give ups, so I'm really inclined to believe the problem isn't the killer of choice (unless people really really really really dislike Wraith), or maybe my region is weird, or my mmr is so fucked that I go against newer survivors that don't despise sm yet, too many variables

In my opinion its because DBD has been designed in such a way that the average player experiences more frustration more times per match. Now this might not even be anything that bad (like being first down or something). Clearly in these cases the match is far from decided, but players fearing the worst give up on hook. My solution is to 1. Remove the dc penalty. Yes this will exponentially increase the dc rate as people diconnect over minor inconviences (which also brings up a discussion on why you bring up the pause menu and rage quit in under a second), but thats actually crucial for the next part. 2 - Add a match re-connect feature (similar to Hunt:showdown and countless others), where if a match you exited is still ongoing, you can reconnect from the menu.
The effects i expect to see from this is: More rage disconnects (make it take longer to quit the match ffs), countered by the ability for the rage baby to cool off for a second in the menu before rejoining the match. They CANNOT make it so you cant queue for a new match until the other is finished, as this would bring us to the exact same place and problem. This also makes it so players dont have to suffer through those unwinnable games. Perhaps making the disconnection of a player something impermanent less people will end up actually committing to abandoning a match.
