- How we grate and chop our garden produce for the freezer. Also, how I organize it in the freezer to use all winter. This video was requested by a viewer. Thank you!!
Marcie, I'm so glad your channel was suggested to me by RUclips. I really love your sweet disposition. These types of videos are so fun to watch. I have a garden harvest coming in right now. Cucumbers coming out of my ears! ha! I never thought to freeze and put them in a smoothie. Great idea!
I love the mat with the city drawings. No iPads! Most kids don’t even know how play like the parents played 30-40 years ago. I love your videos! Sending you my love from Orlando, Florida.
Filling the freezer is a blessing for winter. 😊
Thanks!
Wow!! Oh wow! Thank you so much! You're so generous.
So kind! ❤
What a blessing!!
I love your methodology and organization! Great job, Holladay family!
That refrigerator and deep freeze were a blessing. Yes, a side by side is definitely more convenient. I have an old chest freezer that is older than I am and still works well. I use milk crates and try to keep things in alphabetical order. Mine is mainly meat, so beef, chicken, pork, turkey. I have a basket on top for fruits and veggies and a quick freeze pocket area for misc.
Oh I love the milk crate idea!! I have some in my shed for jump ropes and frisbees. I could put one or two in my freezer instead. I think that would really help! Thanks for the idea! I love that you put your stuff in abc order. Awesome!
Good morning Marcie♥I love those totes in the freezer for sorting! I did something similar in my old fridge to help with where things were using plastic shallow bins from the dollar store I took my measurements and my tape measure to the store lol!
I would be interested in purchasing from the wishlist, let us know when it's up.
I have 2 tall kitchen trash cans in my chest freezer. In one I keep all my corn and another one holds my ground beef. It helps keep things organized.
Fantastic idea!! Wow, so smart! Thank you.
I love your family and homesteading videos! I look for one each day and am happy when a new one is showing. God bless!!!
You guys are doing great. I think it is a blessing to have the blueberries and zucchini and other fresh homegrown veggies. 🫶💕🫶
Loved the vid! We have a 2 bed garden out here in Las Vegas and shockingly we are producing loads of cucumbers, pumpkins already forming. Our tomato season usually ends late June due to the heat they become sun dried tomatoes. 😂 Your videos motivate me and give me some great ideas for my children. Thank you 🙏
Sounds great! We had a layover Las Vegas and they said it was 114 there! Sundried tomatoes sounds about right, haha! That made me laugh.
YAY! SO nice to see you guys. You were missed!! All those wonderful fresh veggies for the freezer! YUM! OH, those mats are SO adorable! I use frozen or raw cucumbers & zucchini chunks in my smoothies too. Delish. SO hydrating in the hot weather.
Single Mom you are and amazing Mother and Have wonderful Family God bless you all 🙏✝️☮️🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂🫂🍀🌹💐🌺💜💗❤️💜
So many great ideas! Thank you and may God bless you and your beautiful family! 🙏❤ May God give you the grace to equal your tasks! You are doing a amazing job, beautiful Mother! 🌺🙏
I do a lot of dehydrating too, where we lived in rural Virginia- we lost power a lot.Canning and dehydration really help wit( food storage. I am enjoying your channel very much.
The car play mates are a wonderful idea!!
The mats are a great idea 💡 😮!
I’ve noticed your subscriptions are 3,000 more than few weeks ago , so I’m excited for you and the kids . Enjoying your videos immensely ❤️
Yay! Thank you!
Love the maps ! What did you use for the one you made? I'm so glad I saw this. I had ideas to make one for my daughter . You can make much more than the bought ones!
YAY!!! Thank you for this video!!

Hi Marcie, Do you have a steam canner? I just bought one. It does 7 quarts and is a lot easier to maneuver as it uses very little water. I also have an All American pressure canner but it is heavy. A Presto pressure canner might be easier to use, especially seating the lid. Good job with your freezer project. I acquired freezer containers and canning jars from church from people who were older and did not wish to can any more. Also yard sales. I really like the Ball half gallon glass jars. You can vaccum seal the lids. They hold my large volume dried herb, etc. ~ Diane
Great video
Blessed Thursday
You’re amazing! You have courage. I love to see all you do. I have two questions.
1. Do you preserve by canning anything?
2. When a power outage happens, how much of your frozen food do you loose?
A little tip:
I keep a plastic cup of water in my freezer with a coin on top. After a power outage I check the freezer the next day to see if the coin is in the ice or on it. If it is just down a little bit than I don’t worry about most things. Just the meat.
No, I've never had canning supplies to can. And it seemed such a hot task, you add sugar to fruits and cook things that takes nutrients out. I prefer food just as it's picked. But mostly, I'm just too lazy. Freezing is so quick. And no, so far we've lived here just over 3 years and have never had a power outage. You're right, canning would be better in that case, than freezer food. I'd better get into canning!
Thanks for the cool idea of the coin and cup!
I am a single mum in Australia with 5 children dreaming of the day we can have a farm!
Keep working towards it and it'll happen! I know it will.
Have you ever made a video about making jam.
No, I'll do that! Got lots of berries right now.
Are you planning for a fall garden? I like to grow kale, spinach, lettuces and such in my fall garden. I find with minimal covering of plants I can get kale and spinach into December most years.
Yes, I do plant spinach, kale, peas, and potatoes in the fall.
Nice harvest from your garden already! I can’t quite picture cucumber in a smoothie. Do you taste it? I put spinach in our smoothies with fruit. There is no taste from that. Val C
No, you can't taste the cucumbers much, just very refreshing. Yes, I put spinach from our garden in smoothies all spring before cukes are ready. And kale too. I freeze a lot of kale for smoothies but somehow didn't this year. I'm not always on top of everything. :) So yes, try cucumbers instead of spinach sometime. It's good! Bananas, strawberries, cucumbers, pineapple juice, cherries, mango... Yum!
@@singlemomonafarm Thanks, I will have to try them.
freezing your veggie's you can keep you in veggie although the winter months wise mommy.
I would love a video on how you juggle homeschooling while still taking care of the farm! I know everything they do relating to the farm is learning and educational, do you still use formal curriculum for reading, spelling, math etc?
Ok, Great idea! I would love to do that. I tried to talk about it a little bit in Day of the Life, but not very much. I would love to focus more on homeschooling. Yes, I do use formal curriculum, usually what I write myself or get from the library. Or books we've had from the older children. I'm writing this idea down and hope to do it when we start back to school. Thanks!
@@singlemomonafarm thanks! Looking forward to watching it, I struggle juggling the formal homeschooling with everything else in life!
I checked your Amazon wishlist. It’s empty. Am I doing something wrong? Is everything purchased, or not posted yet?
I guess it's all been purchased. Wow, people are so nice! I could only think of a few things though. We really have all we need. There are a few wants but I can wait till Christmas for those. Most of our needs are things like oil change, safety inspection, things that come up that I forget about and don't want to pay for, haha.
When I think of more things for the wishlist I'll add them. You are so sweet!
Is that the usual way to grate in the us? In nz we have big triangular upright ones
Haha! It's the only cheese grater we have. But it's small and fits in the drawer easily. Yes, I think other people have triangular upright ones. I just don't know where they keep them so that the drawer doesn't jam. But certainly a bigger one would be nicer and faster. I didn't realize this until we started grating, haha.
What do you do with frozen cucumbers? Mine just get smooshy.
Put them in smoothies with bananas, strawberries, mango, cherries, etc.
Do you can your produce? Green beans, tomatoes, zucchini relish, pickles with cukes.
Enjoying your posts! Do you have a Patrion (sp?) account?
No, I tried looking into it but got interrupted and couldn't figure it out. But I have venmo @marcie-holladay-1. Or super thanks on YT.
😅
When I grew tomatoes and had a bigger family I would quarter the tomatoes drizzle olive or salad oil on them and salt them and roast in the oven for 45 to 60 minutes with the dinner I was cooking when cooled I froze them. They taste just like sun dried tomatoes in oil. The same can be done with peppers.
Great to know, thanks!
To freeze apples peel, dice, add some cinnamon and sugar (or not if you want to add to red cabbage as a vegetable dish later). Microwave covered (I use cereal bowl with a salad plate for cover) 3 to 5 minutes depending on bowl fill. Then cool and freeze.
Good to know! I have not frozen apples, only dried them. Or stored them as is in the basement. We do eat a lot of apples so they don't last long.
