I am so happy that you're making these videos on your channel and educating people. I have always been enormously frustrated by people who lack any understanding of chemistry or the scientific method who spew a lot of garbage out about things they have no knowledge of. You're fighting against ignorance as well as fighting against the companies that profit of of that ignorance.
And then there are people like me, who don't know much about chemistry and don't know who to trust. So we tend to be sucked into the void of misinformation before finding the truth. 😭
@@strawberryavalanche7501 as long as you're capable of admitting you don't know something, and you search for the truth, you're way better off than these... uh... skinfluencers?
You’re seriously a lifesaver for me. I have severe OCD and your videos always keep me informed while relieving any anxiety I have about certain products. ❤️ Thank you.
I've been using an eyelid gel with parabens in it for years. My eyelid area felt great. Then I saw the myths surrounding parabens and stopped using it for a few months... But now I am returning to this gel again!
I used to avoid parabens too, a decade or so ago. Didn't realize back then that EWG was such a biased and unreliable source. It was so nice to go back to my preferred products once I learned there was nothing to fear!
To be complely honest I don't even know whom to trust in the world of tiktok and social media.. someone claims that they're one of the top 100 doctors in US and I actually don't have an option to verify that, Google will show 1000 results, and they would claim this is good and this is bad and I would be like okay fine. Then someone else will show up and be like no this is incorrect or incomplete information then again I'm confused.
I had no idea about parabens and by the time the movement has gained momentum, no one knows where it started from and it seems to be super hard to convince them. Like antivaccers. Thanks for sharing the info Michelle!
Yup. I buy shampoo that are paraben-free and I don't even know why. I think mostly because I like buying second-hand from small business, and that most hair products are catered towards people who don't have the same hair texture as mine. So, maybe I'm associating "parabens" and sulfates in the same category as things that can potentially damage my hair. I didn't think I was contributing to yet another BS myth, but I tend to overcorrect in the name of wanting to discover new brands. Now I gotta Google aluminum in deodorant, no- lye relaxers, and Red&Yellow Lake 5 lol
@@austincde As far as I remember, researchers have been unable to prove a link between aluminum in antiperspirant and cancer. Mind you, they've been looking for one for decades at this point.
@@TosyaChanMedical facilities are able to prioritize research at a quicker, more deeply regulated method than skincare ingredients. Few skincare ingredients actually go through clinical trials beyond standard business testing to be labelled under "drug facts" like sunscreen.
Its because of the fear. Most people with anxiety focus more on the negative outcome. I myself understand that paraben are not that harmful but still won't buy products which have them because I always feel "what if"! I know it may sound stupid but can't help it.
You are such a national treasure Michelle. I rave about you to my friends and family! 😊 Could you do a video that’s about the ingredient Melanotan 2? I keep on seeing ads on Instagram and Facebook for Australian companies and influencers selling products with this dangerous, prohibited ingredient! How is it they continue to get away with selling topical, injectable and inhalator Melanotan despite the TGA’s prohibition??
Do you know if there are any safety concerns re parabens in lubricants? Like the sex kind. I've seen a lot of fuss about how because they're oestrogenic they're not safe in lube, and it sounds plausible that applying an oestrogenic substance to the mucous membranes of your genitals is risky where applying the same substance to the keratinized skin of your face is not. I'm not really sure where to go for that info though.
Really don't think it's an issue based on the extremely low estrogenic activity of parabens - oral contraceptives and hormonal contraceptive rings would be a much much higher risk, and they're not super high risk...
Any info on the endocrine disruptors in spf? I'm weirdly paranoid about that and I don't know if it's me or the thing And I wish you'd explain it to me like I'm 5 :(
I wanna start a shitposting beauty brand which makes products with disclaimers printed on the tubes like "paraben filled!", "suffocating in sulfates!", "100% natural silicon"
it’s so surprising to me that people that have gone to a basic bio class don’t understand an experiment being biased. you always need a control group. otherwise it’s just you proving your thesis not arguing for it in a broad sense. we learn how to differentiate good and bad research papers and what can actually be spread as FACT
THANK YOU! I'm so tired of the anti paraben league. I actually look for paraben preservatives because they do not irritate my skin like most other preservatives.
That one Just showed that the fear mongers used a source that was Shit and werent able to understand that. Newer ones showed that healthy tissue contains it too.
I think history of medicine and research taught me if a substance is not researched enough yet then it’s better to stay away from it until it’s proven completely safe and not the vice versa.
Then you cant use anything at all. How are you writing the comment? Its not proven that using a Phone is Safe. People even died from it during driving! So its Bad and you cant use it at all 😂😂😂 Same "Logic". 🤡

Ugh, I knew I missed something when researching this!
Poolseidon demands a sacrifice! 🔱
Shhhhh 😉 I worked hard for those roles 🔪🩸
Thank you!
How do you feel about phenoxyethanol that is used as an alternative?
I am shocked that it wasn't related to hair and scalp health 🤯 I shouldn't be shocked but I am.
Pls algorithm gods, I i beseech thee please spread this wonderful content instead of misinformation and fearmongering.

So true, i saw a podcast from a toxicologist who shows astudy how reduced usage of paraben reduced the cancer tissue /cells, and endocrine disruptors
then start learning chemistry
please make a video on aqualogica it's a popular indian brand they claim their sunscreen gives sun protection for 6 hours
Where did you see that claim? I have used aqualogica sunscreen but I don't think it lasts that long
Sounds like the Evy Sunscreen. She did a video on that one.

Don't bring vaccines into this. Covid ones lack decades of research and a safety profile unlike most skincare ingredients.

Thank you!
Gonna save this video in case i have comment war with someone who hates parabens just because others on internet say so 😂

I honestly thought it was just an environmental concern.
I get that but how does that mean they aren’t bad?

What is the cause of the aluminum causes breast cancer story?
