That 42 looked like it was wearing Margaret, not the other way round. I liked the previous branding with just the llama but not the name. I like logos over text.
Finally!!! My favourite travel bag. My older 42L has load lifters which make a difference but still love this bag (yes I have the crazy colours) I haven’t found anything for me that works better…yet! Thank you for the review!!
I was debating 28L vs 35L Purchased 35L and pretty happy so far, I can pack 4 days trip, I was able to pack it easily even with bulky hoodie. it fits good overhead bin and from what I've researched, it even fits CRJ overheads as well. 42L seems like way to big for avg people start looking really odd imo For longer trims where I need more storage, I will be taking carry on luggage + backpack that can fit under seat (currently planning to buy Bellroy light bag)
I love the colorway for the 42L 😁 I am going to have to check out Cotopaxi a bit more since I know that they aren’t afraid to use colors!!! I do wish that there was a bit more padding in the laptop compartments (especially a false bottom) and some more padding on the handles. I do know that would increase the weight, however that would be a worthy trade-off! And the 42L needs load lifters like yesterday 😊
Thank you Aaron for this honest review. it would be nice if you can do a review on COR SURF ISLAND HOPPER 2.0 Travel backpack and compare it to the COTOPAXI ALLPA range,
I purchased the 35l a while ago and returned it, I don't like the suitcase compartments. It's hard to access things without having to completely open it up and unzip each divider.
I had both, I hated the balloon look and feel. It doesn’t look right unless it’s packed out. Then it’s heavy. Mine also scratched up badly. But the 28L could work. Like you, the suitcase compartments got annoying.
My 35 litre one has a side access zipm(on the other side from computer pocket) which accesses one of the inside pockets, great for a sweater or change of clothes on a long trip. They really have thought of everything!
I think you missed one aspect of this type of bag. The various zipped mesh pockets in the main compartment can act as built-in packing cubes. That way, you could save some weight and space by not using packing cubes.
Good call! But also consider the fact that by adding the zipper meshed compartments you’ve technically also added more weight to the bag. I think it still ends up being slightly lighter than packing cubes, but probably not by much
@@Nomads.Nation Yeah, I'm not advocating this style of bag. I'm just pointing out how a person might use this type of built-in organization - forgoing packing cubes. Personally, I think a big bucket type of main compartment is more space efficient and certainly more flexible (can fit bulkier items).
i really want the bellroy lite but the lack of a bottle holder is genuinely a dealbreaker, so this is a great alternative! or i might get the lite and ask a tailor to stitch a water bottle on for me 🤣 i’m just worried about the depth on this bag a a bit, fully packed out the 35L can reach over 10” deep and that might not fly on some international and european airlines. but i guess because it’s such soft sided bag, do you think you could still jam it in carry-on sizers if i was asked to? always love the work aaron!
@@kkasavu3149 I prefer the Bellroy organisation but for me as well, the lack of a water bottle is a dealbreaker. If they could include a mesh like on the Cotopaxi one, I would by one immediately.
@@928ruf same here, i think the dimensions of the bellroy 38L also make it more suitable because it isn’t over 9” deep when fully packed out too. if they don’t release a new lite travel bag with a water bottle holder then i might genuinely buy one and take it to a tailor to stitch some mesh on the side for me instead haha
The TPU coated one won't last long in tropicalia - unless you have a humidity/heat controlled storage unit for your bags 😂 I've had 2 and the coating all degraded in 3-4 yrs. The cotopaxi folks will recommend you get the non TPU nylon version. I love the colors! I've had enough black and monochromatic bags and pouches.
I have the previous model 28 on black (I used it on business trips no problem) and a 35 in Deldia color. Awesome bags. The 28L I used on 4 day business travel and it was great. You just need a packable day bag for the laptop, as it’s a terrible edc.
Good they finally added a water bottle pocket but no compression + no load lifters are the non starter deal breakers for me. Sloppy, slouchy carry - no thanks.
Don’t be silly - LOVE the colour variety! So imaginative and fun (unlike the BORING black, grey and blues in so many other backpack brands. Thanks for the review though!
Did you research Cotopaxi? The "childlike" fabric is made from 100% material that other bag comapnies (i.e. Osprey, NorthFace, etc) simply throw away- wasted. Hence, your "deadstock". Also a percentage of the money goes back into the community. So it's more of a bag that is not only a great travel bag, but a bag that does good as well. I do think the original Cotopaxi Allpa gave you more but it took away a lot fofr the water bottle bottle pocket.

@@Nomads.Nation I swear I am not lying, I thought Cotopaxi is name of the bag from Alpaka because of the logo.
@@Meh-ru3ex totally see how you can make that mistake, there's too many Alpakas for one small community 😂
I’m glad someone else said this. lol poor Margaret

Cool design feature on these that no one really talks about is that front access large brain pocket also perfectly stores their hip/fanny bags
good to know!

I agree that load lifters would be nice, although I'm not much of a compression strap user myself
Love the Llama!
His name is Bryan 😉
Did you have an opportunity to try the 28L?
My wife has the 28 and loves it. All the same features of the 35, but scaled down enough to fit under the seat in front of you.
did not, hoping to soon!
I have the previous model in 28L and I love it. It excells as a long weekend bag

wayyy to colorful for me, im a boring/black guy, but I'm glad Cotopaxi is giving options!!
28L is better!! Used it for 2 weeks in Europe!
Can’t wait to check that one out!

that 42L looked ridiculous on Margaret, reminds me of Marissa wearing the Matador 45 😅😅😅
if you've ever gone backpacking in hostels you see this stuff everyday haha
Brian 😂😂😂😂.. wait, is it with an 'i' or a 'y'
He’s definitely a ‘y’ Bryan 😂
Just like Benetton.

comparing two different models? They are both the Allpa, just one is a 35L and the other is a 42L

@ colorful one is not waterproof that’s why it is light of my understanding is correct
