It’s amazing how as soon as you added the accent one could start to hear that samba hint come through. I will likely never drum but finding these fascinating.
I’m very glad to be alive particularly this day, my right foot survived a painful PRP procedure. Much pain to much gain, that’s my take away today. Thanks tho for lesson 👌🏼🔥🥁
I like watching the drum bros with their burly arms, I like watching the theory nerds with all their numbers, but YOU are the RUclipsr who is actually helping me become a better drummer. Thank you!
I think this is the same rhythm we used to play in our Murga group. From what I understand the Murga is a drum and dance group popular mainly in Spanish speaking countries, but I have no idea where the rhythms come from. If anyone knows more let me know thanks!
That sounded more like Olodum, than samba. It’s super funny as brazilian to see how difficult it is for foreigners to grasp the nuances of our music’s rhythm.
Welcome to the world of Drumming my friend. Now look up people playing poly rythms and have your body detached from reality instead of just your mind blown.
Makes you appreciate how hard playing instruments can be. Watching online makes it seem so easy until you try tapping on your knees haha. For me anyway
Thing is. As a guitar player and pianist with decades of training, drums struggle to click with me souleybecause if the FEET! I have no struggle playing something eith my hands. But once I need to include my foot on the kick, I get lost.
This has nothing to do with samba...even though it's a good video. Here's her opportunity to create an appropriate video about samba... who knows? Keep up the good work!
Wait a minute there, dear... Samba??? This is actually the Bo Diddly Figure, straight up note for note! Yes, even the kick & high hat pattern you are demonstrating along with it. The kick and high hat pattern for Samba are counted as "one and a two and a three and a four". 😉
It's pronounced "sahm ba" - even for Brits. It's Brazilian Portuguese, full of passion...aka sexy: fit for Carnival. "Technical" is the way your playing sounds: fit for a drill team not flashing hips.

Are u Justin's daughter?
@@amwartworkhuh?
You can also start by learning the accent pattern and incorporate the softer hits later as you go.
Every day you impart more knowledge is a fantastic day to be alive
A skilled drummer and a skilled teacher. Thank you.

Love this Gal... She displays a real passion for Drumming and delivers her messages in her "dry" comedic fashion with her British accent!!
Yep, she is good.
And she resembles my daughter not only in looks but also in mannerism.
Great video. But this isn't Samba, this is Axé, also Brazilian 🇧🇷
Same feeling.. not Samba but in the end she played that Axé vibe. Ooooo Miiiilaaaaa.

Exatamente, tocou um Olodum aí
I think you’re my fave drum teacher on RUclips. I know most of your lessons already but you still amuse me muchly!
You’re a great teacher.
I just got a samba piece for jazz band today! Thank you
You are great teacher. Thank you
😊
This is not a samba groove. This is "axé", a Brazilian rhythm that comes from the northeast of the country and is based on salsa claves
I was going to comment that.
Yup... Not samba... Great video though
Thais os Axé
right!
we actually call this rhythm in Brasil “Samba Reggae”, the style that groups like Olodum plays
As a Brazilian and already intermediate drummer, I wanted to see you end a little bit faster to see the swing haha love the charisma
I like watching the drum bros with their burly arms, I like watching the theory nerds with all their numbers, but YOU are the RUclipsr who is actually helping me become a better drummer. Thank you!
Great tutorial thanks
This is 3:2 son clave rudiment with straight bass drum pattern
Yes! It's a fantastic day to be alive.
I love your energy🎉
Amo tu comportamiento !!!!! Y tu sabiduría !!!!
I like your vids. This rhythm is technically a 3:2 clave, not a samba. I've heard heated arguments about the difference.
Yeah that's an Afro-Cuban clave, heading to new Orleans when the kick enters. But that's just naming. The rhythms lovely and you all should learn it!
@@scladoffle2472 no it's really relevant. Beginners need clear explanations, not wrong ones.
@@scladoffle2472 you keep using that word. I don't think it means what you think it means.
Vaya maquinarias 🤘
It's like making pauses while maintaining the same beat rate. The sense of pause a gap between beats achieved through perception.
Thanks for the help
This girl looks like a kickass friend to have around
She is! (talking from experience 😅)
As a drummer myself, I enjoy your lessons
Awesome, thanks 🤩
Very fun to play
Great jeans - such a bright clap sound. Is it Pearl?
Bonus points for the worn down jeans from tapping 👍
Sambaaaaaa eeeeo samba reggae 🎵
Tip: This is Axe, but it's ok. Try to move all accents through the drum tom's and put an extra hi hat feet on "&" of all tempos.
Nice lesson. But what is the Samber

I have bever tryed it but you discribed it very well
box car racer - there is. (this song's drum beat is based on this samba beat.)
That sounded more like Olodum, than samba. It’s super funny as brazilian to see how difficult it is for foreigners to grasp the nuances of our music’s rhythm.
I'm now hearing Samba in every song.
I usually play double on the foot when i play samba...or maybe i do wrong? Maybe im mixing with boda bosanova haha
This was actually helpful
I bloody love Samber
I tell you, you have long journey before say you can play samba or sambão! Good luck :)
As a non drummer musician adding the kick not on the accents seems mind blowing 😂. I may never get this but i will try since i dont need a kit.
Welcome to the world of Drumming my friend. Now look up people playing poly rythms and have your body detached from reality instead of just your mind blown.
I like that you have the perfect jeans to slap the beat on your legs :D
What is this drum set? it's beatiful
What kit do you have? I'm looking for good quality for a small space. Thanks :)
That's the Bo Diddly beet!!!!!
This is Axé, Samba Reggae
If you slide the last accent one 16th before is much better. Trust me, I’m a Brazilian musician. ;-) Cheers
This is Samba-Reggae believe!
The slow RLs just had me thinking Can’t stop intro
O samba tá um pouco diferente...
Mas eu vou pegar essa dica pra treinar
Makes you appreciate how hard playing instruments can be. Watching online makes it seem so easy until you try tapping on your knees haha. For me anyway
Been 5 mins… getting frustrating 😂
i hit the like button even bevor watching the lesson 🙈
Isn't it also what ginger Baker plays on deserted cities of heart ?
How about flam triplets around the drums
Does this make Footloose a samba?
I suppose all a ending words followed by a vowel beginning next word as in "sambar on the" is the British rule. Maybe im wrong
Yes, they do the same in Boston. I think it's called intrusive r. The alternative is a glottal stop, as in the bo'l o' wo'a meme
you are soooo cool!
Needs a specific swing because of straight it could easily just be like a choo choo train country beat

Samber? What is Samber? Kidding. You sound like your from London!
Is this Jazz Emu's sister?
I knauw
Son clave 3:2
This is not samba, but I think it could be a good start though 😊
Samber?
Counting does not add up with the grafic at 0:15
I'm confused! When you were counting, you were playing eighth notes, but the notation at the top is showing sixteenth notes. How? Why? I'm confused!
It is also not samba at all.
Play the K's in 3/4 👀
Isn't this the beat that Bo Diddly try to claim as his own? If I'm not mistaken I think he tried to sue someone over it.
Son clave
Bossa nova please.
Damn.. play it full speed now.
That’s more of a “swinging clave.”
You're counting different to the graphic on the screen. This is a 3:2 son clave exercise with no suinge and no notable samba elements.
But you didn't play it at the end. I was waiting for it.
"Sam-brah" ohhhk
I'm not educated but I think Samber is more of a feel the clave is always there,
Jazz Emu?
“SAMBER”
Honey , I am 68 you explain things so well ,Sombas. & Mombos. Are drumming. Hevan. All the accents ❤
Samba ragee
SAMBER ON DRUMS
Did she say we’re leaning to play “sober”. This doesn’t sound like Tool. 😂
Sambra 😂
Alternatively, remember what the Indians verse riff sounds like.
Samba is different . Play the grove
You got the “samber” groove wrong
Samba de gringo é assim 😂😂😂

Isso é axé, gringa...
This is samba-reggae. Try samba-jazz! 😁
