Is that just a piece 1/8" steel drilled out where the throat is. Or did you order the deflector and drill holes?

Your deflector plate has holes. If the deflator plate did not have the holes, would the plate work the same, or does the holes make it work better?

First, I must say this, my deflector plate is specifically designed to aid and assist with creating the best most even temperatures as possible in the Cook chamber.
With that being said, I will also say this
There are other manufacturers out there who sell deflector plates for the old country bbq pit line and that have no holes in them and it just directs the heat straight up into the cooking chamber..
I’ve had multiple people complain to me and say hey look I have this deflector plate from such and such company. It is making my cooking chamber hot over near the smokestack outlet side, if I purchase your deflector plate is that going to happen? And the answer is no.
My deflector plate is specifically designed to calm down the fire when it goes into the Cook chamber so that it’s not blasting all of your food with heat and cooking it fast or burning it. And the holes are specifically designed to aid and assist in creating those even temperatures on the top of the grill grate area and the lower area underneath the grill grate.
