Bridge sounds like record and easy to play Travis pick style , the lower strings. ANd just use Em, CM7 and E -4 and C-4, and run back! Easiest part of song! But Randy plays it different as well, but 2 guitars one playing higher and lower is the record version! I caught Bachman tell a story of song he wrote on Ferry back in 1964, but he asked Cummings if he remembers, which he doesn't he was only 13 or 14, if that! Thank You!
Ive listen to the original recording over and over. The intro is only one chord played 3 times followed by a “shh”. Where do these people get the descending chords? A live version? Untimate Guitar?
For those with small hands who can't use their thumb on the fretboard at all, it's possible to play the Cflat5 without using your thumb, as follows: Bass C note: Middle finger, 6th string, 8th fret Middle C (one octave up): Pinky, 4th string, 10th fret E (major 3d) : Ring finger, 3rd string 9th fret F# (flat 5): Index finger, 2nd string 7th fret To change to the B chord, just keep your index finger where it is and slide your other fingers down one fret. It sounds more awkward than it really is.
I think it's safe to say that Randy Bachman learned quite a few interesting changes from guitarist Lenny Breau in the mid 60's. I imagine that some of those ideas might have morphed into some Guess Who songs and possibly even Undun.
Wouldn't it be better to play the harmonic in the intro with your 4th finger, then it's less of a jump back and forth to the chord? (economy of movement) Just a thought. Great vid BTW.
Great job you really nailed it. I'm a big fan of Randy Bachman and BTO . My favorite song is Blue Collar which has never been taught on RUclips. If you could do some pieces of it that would be great.
For whatever reason, because this isn’t my favorite song, I’ve watched more lessons on it than any other song I can remember. Randy’s version is quite different and there’s at least 2 versions that teach it thumbless. But regardless, it’s difficult to get through it and make it sound good IMHO.
I think what makes this song difficult to parse out is that the G chord is the related major to the E minor chord. So when you're trying to figure out the chords it's hard to tell what the change is. It's like looking at one of those optical illusions where you can't tell which part is in front and which is in back. There's actually another very good RUclips on this song where the presenter doesn't use the G chord at all, but just goes back to the E minor. It still sounds good, but I suspect there's a hidden bass player doing a bass G note!
Is it me or does that dissonant Cflat5 to B bit in the intro sound like what Warren Haynes is arpeggiating at about the :0:29 mark (under the vocals) on Gov’t Mule’s “Beautifully Broken”?
I love the Guess Who! Another good one would be “No Time”… since that part in the G-D-Am-D part is a little tricky. I think it’s played higher on the neck (10th fret area?).
I love the lesson but that intro , ugh my damn thumb and the one thing i still dont get is the last arpegiation on the b before the rest.. no lessons touch on that
@@12footchain its just the short run up the b chord before the chorus . And no, but its pretty simple and i been trying combinations of notes til im not sure what im hearing anymore. Its all good its my own shortfall. It sounds like you just run up the chord , but sometimes it sounds like you land back down on the bottom B. I cant tell ...sorry i shouldnt have mentioned it . Just frustrated with myself... and when i checked other lessons they dont really focus on it either. Sonetimes i think your pinching the octaves together high and low, maybe
Randy Bachman on a youtube video shows how he plays the song on acoustic.. he put the correct version on here because so many got it wrong..including this channel..so learn it correctly
Thanks.
So many great songs written by Canadians 🇨🇦 over the years!!
Always great. This was the first time that 60's youth were exposed to jazz on the AM :0
She’s come “Undone”. Great tune - one of my favorites. Thank you.

Great James Bond bout 13::13. Thanks 👍
Groovy
Thanks, great job. How about another excellent Canadian guitarist Kim Mitchell? Go For Soda would be fun.
GREAT WORK...Greetings from Sweden 🇸🇪 Rene Di
thank you - and greetings from Nashville TN, USA

Very well done!👍
The Patreon for this channel is a great value.
Glad you think so!
Thanks so much wanted to learn this song but couldn't find a good accurate lesson that didn't charge money. I teach guitar for free also.

Need more close-ups. Thanks for the diagram that helps.

How come I get no results when I look up the song here on yt?
No idea. What country are you in?

I love The Guess Who too, actually more than BTO. On the other hand, I have to say I saw BTO in concert once and they put on a GREAT show.
Pretty unusual and sophisticated chords for a pop song...sort of Bossa Nova-ish. I could imagine Santana doing this..
I love the lesson but that intro , ugh my damn thumb and the one thing i still dont get is the last arpegiation on the b before the rest.. no lessons touch on that
what part is the last arpegiation on the b? did I not cover it?
