Did Tim Cain work at ID? Now that i think about it, I am thinking of legendary ID employee Tim Wilis. I’m sure most most youngins don’t know about him but Tim is one of those rare stores where he was a mod level designer when it was first kidding initial success with Wolfenstein and doom. His designs and maps caught the attention of the actual devs and folks at ID software so they brought him on as an actual employee starting out fairly low on the totem pole and only knowing map making really. From there he climbed up the ladder and became one of the main figures and it’s software right up there with Romero and John Carmack. And all during this. And I imagine still today, he maintained communication with the modeling/player scene for the games he worked on usually through the Corona m of said game/mod community. Tim’s designs and guidance got a lot of people my age into the art and technical skill of map making and what makes different types of maps ideal for different types of games or game mode. His advice on the forms especially when it came to the extremely CAD-like software that most high level 3-D games of that era utilized Not just for maps, but also for “filming” cut scenes now that endgame graphics were decent enough that you could use them to make your own cut scenes using the map editor, triggers, establishing camera shots, camera placing, lighting the amount of knowledge one could gain simply by mastering a map editor that typically came with a game back then was insane! And it was an era where most big name “open world” (most were Actually linear but large enough to give the illusion of being an open world

Yep, I started my experience of the franchise with Fallout 3 at a time when I hadn't played any CRPGs (possibly) and it left a massive impact on me with the same searing sound from the vault exit being burned into my brain. Will never not forget that moment and it led to my dedication to the franchise since. Maybe I've got rose-tinted glasses on but I never could find anything to complain about FO3. I didn't even know it was unpopular for some people, having no internet access at the time when it came out. Played it on my own, enjoyed it, and fell in love with everything since. Heck, other than the narrative, wasn't even disappointed with FO4 too much, having put many hours into it still playing every now and then till today.

To me it doesn't take away from the optimism of science and space exploration because we are still very earlier in space exploration in the game. Not all of the galaxy is controlled by a faction and not all the habitable planets have established cities on them or settlements on them. That leaves so much possibility on the table especially with factions like LIST in the game that exist to help settlers get away from faction controlled space into independent space.
Also, I love space and I wish in real life we were able to travel and explore out there but its not going to peaches and cream, there is always going to be tragedy and a lot of the time tragedy makes it more interesting

    1.) Love it.
2.) It could be better. It feels like the bones is there, it needs more meat.
3.) What could make it better. A tone that the stakes are higher. The stakes when you start don't seem dire... And that makes the stories more rich.
4.) Chracters of constellation were too similar in tone. Which made it hard to connect to one because I couldn't connect with them, and them being so similar it like I don't a voiced and complex companion that I like.

also, outposts are so bland. i feel like this was the perfect game for planet settlement building, maybe tying in some small questlines to your large settlements and allowing them to flow a bit with the game's economy and whatnot, but they amount to being so insignificant.

In terms of the stakes, I think they deliberately kept it from being a "the fate of the galaxy is at stake" sort of game, and I kind of respect that. Its what most Sci Fi does, and I like how they were a little more 2001 a Space Odyssey with their stakes. Nice change of pace. I'd like to see Shattered Space DLC up the stakes though. Think eso one Tamriel except we are in the timeline of fallout 5 which means we can go back to those old places and see what has become of them now a new experience maybe players can choose which setting they’d prefer a prewar fallout setting by preventing the bombs from ever falling or choose an apocalyptic fallout setting by allowing the bombs to fall

If there was a marvel movie coming out there had to be a video game with it and the video game could be garbage, but it didn’t matter you released the movie and the video game almost simultaneously. Now we’ve gotten away from that thank goodness. You can actually release a good video game and let it stand on its own or in the case of Fallout can release a TV show and let it stand on its own.
