I think the shot of Aang collapsed on his knees in the burnt forest is when he sees what he assumes the fire nation has done to the forest for the first time and realizes the weight of what his absence has meant for the world-not when he fails to save Sokka. It seems to be a pretty 1:1 adaptation from the ATLA episode.
Small but lovely detail: The way the Fire Nation army salutes Zuko is accurate to the typical fire nation salute in the show (one hand at a 90° angle and a fist at the bottom). Not much, but it’s nice that they know whose world this is
Excuse me, but do you have any video essays specifically about how Appa was just the bestest good boy ever? Like how he was so loyal to only Aang for so long and how it took a while for him to build trust with the rest of Team Avatar… Like someone would approach alone and Appa would be like, “uh, no?” And refuse to move? But then being accepted onto the saddle by Aang meant Appa could build trust with these new people and agree to go on solo missions and leave Aang behind? He was SO intelligent, but his sentience wasn’t into the realm of like “uh, an animal wouldn’t agree to just fly into fireballs”(eventually) unless Aang was asking Appa to.
The only thing Aang couldn't get him to do was go into a tunnel/ cave/ underground. But I can't blame him for not wanting to go underground! Especially since he had been captured and held underground by the Dai Li
Sokka looks very serious in all the shots we've seen so far, I so hope they keep the Sokka charm from the cartoon and not have him be overly serious all the time like in the movie.
He was pretty serious the first ep or 2. I hope they keep the light hearted feel. Not just because its more accurate to the original but because it makes the serious scenes feel more serious and real.
Fair comment - but I really would HATE it if in the trailer they went the other way and Sokka goofy comic relief because there was always more to the character.
I’d say s1 sokka himself wasn’t really lighthearted. He was always serious but he kinda looked silly while being serious (eg like charging at zukos ship as it crashed into their “defense” wall) which is why it came across as lighthearted to us. In reality Fresh off the poles Sokka felt he had a duty to his tribe as the only man left to protect it. He thought it was his responsibility as the chiefs son. Like yeah he was comedic a lot, but that’s just because sokka himself is a funny guy. He’s sarcastic in frustrating moments which makes for great comic relief- but as a character he isn’t lighthearted. He’s just living through sht and constantly exasperated because of all the sht they go through, which is hilarious to us as viewers to see him get frustrated. Not because he himself is trying to be goofy. The only ep I can think of where he’s full on goofing is the cactus juice sokka and maybe also tophs intro ep in s2 when he’s talking about bags. Sokka treats himself/thinks of himself as a warrior, but he only mellows out until the last season where he is fully developed as a character and understands who he is and what he can contribute to end the war. Eg Like how his skills as a strategist come in to play in planning out the solar eclipse siege, and inventing, relying on science and facts to win. Thats who he is as a character, he just had to find his footing first which is why his arc is also extremely interesting, probably the best one after Zukos.

3:05 I think Zuko is actually blocking the fire there, and I speculate what's going to happen is he's not gonna 100% successfully block it all and part of it will end up touching his eye. This makes a lot of sense, because I can't imagine how Ozai would've inflicted that scar otherwise. He would have to focus all his fire just on his eye, which would probably straight up leave Zuko without that eye, unless his father held back and threw a tiny "slap on the wrist" flame or did it in a "gang member burning you with his cigarette" kind of way. But we know he shot with all his wrath.
A theory in the animation is that Ozai walks over and places his hand on his face to burn him. That would explain a bit why the scar almost looks like a hand kinda

One thing I don't see anyone talking about is the firebenders flying at 0:50 due to sozins comet. I thought they were projectiles at first, but those are firebenders.
I think that might actually be Avatar Kyoshi who drops down like that on Kyoshi Island, like in the show when Roku helps Aang escape after learning about the comet.
@theavatarist if you look carefully at the shot of 'aang' dropping down to save kyoshi island you can see he looks different, taller, weaaring green, long hair. I think it is the actress cast for kyoshi and aang is in the avatar state projecting kyoshi similar to in the court scene in the cartoon and kyoshi is saving her island herself.
the got the race on point too. water tribe are inuit, air nomads are tibetan(probably), fire nation are chinese(probably) and earth kingdom are mixed. and they didnt make a whole group of people use all their strength to make one rock float slowly through the air
Honestly… and this is just for me personally: This trailer has done its job well in bringing me back to my 6 year old self in my grandmother’s attic, accidentally coming across the premiere of ATLA on Nick Jr in 2005. The way nostalgia and familiarity came flooding back….Most of these scenes were instantly recognizable, and not in a cosplayed parody sort of way. They have finally managed to bring this beloved show to life, and I’m not sure I can wait a whole three months…🥹
Working on my breakdown right now and man it feels good watching this trailer over and over again. Apart from the fact that some of the CGI looks like it needs some work I loved what I saw here!
i think aang in the avatar state is going to be much more epic, the shot we got was just him entering the avatar state, if I had to guess it's him entering the spirit world
Shot of Zuko with the saluting soldiers is on Azula's ship as she finds them. Shot of Aang in the burnt forest is actually when he realizes that he wasn't there to stop the war. Sokka and Katara are right behind him. Shot of Iroh with his red face is after Zuko rescues him from the Earth Kingdom soldiers. He's probably red because he was being tortured.
The first season of the live action is the book water. Tgey will show until the seige on the north pole. The first you said as from book earth. And the last one, he didnt get tortured.
im okay if its probably gonna be like a rushed version of its original series like they did in one piece, i just hope the characters are gonna be justified enough especially zuko and iroh. custom addition like that ozai scorching zuko scene in agni kai is so badass, holy shit.
If the live acton is the not quite good at least we getting an animated avatar movie about their adult life in 2025 about what happen after the war and might be based on the comics.also In 2025 we might get the new animated series about the earth bender after korra and in 2026 we get a movie about zuko life or something and in later years or months we get even more Avatar movies or spin off series.
I guess the scene where Iroh looks red, is when some earthbenders capture him and then Zuko rescues him back, you know? The same episode Aang travels to the spirit world and Iroh can see the spirit dragon flying by (I think it's the same one as the burnt forest). Maybe that's dirt on his face I don't know
I think they are showing the fire lord now cause the other live action 2010 showed him but they're going to steer him in a cool way in a different direction I think something related to their conquest with the other nations and still connect him to finding the avatar. Something like the fire lord getting a shocking news after a minor victory in one of the nations or might even be whatever they actually did there in the show😅
I’m guessing that Iroh with the red face shot is from Winter Solstice Part 1? Maybe he’s being carried a little differently on the ostrich horse and so he’s upside down and his face is red as a result? My only other thought is maybe Uncle Iroh was getting drunk with the crew 😂 but who knows, this might be from a tweak in the storyline somewhere. I doubt they’re going to copy the waterbending scroll episode so directly (although I’m sure they’ll keep some of the overall events) but they need to have Iroh being goofy and ridiculous at times to lighten the Zuko scenes up and keep his crouching moron hidden badass schtick in tack.
i'm still not happy with zuko's scar. it just looks drawn on with lipstick. in the animated series zuko's scar actually pulls on his face and distorts the shape of his eye. it has lumps and ridges and texture. even if a burn scar might *eventually* heal to just a birthmark basically, zuko is only 3 years out from his banishment and i know burns don't heal that well THAT fast. i don't understand why every live-action attempt seems so reluctant to put some basic theater latex on zuko's face to make the scar *actually look like a scar.*
I take your point - but there's a real difference between what you can do in animation and what you actually have to make work on a live actor (and within a practical budget and shooting schedule). I'm also thinking of THE SANDMAN - and certain characters and situations that are absolutely NOT comic book accurate, and would probably have made most viewers vomit on sight if they had been.
0:41 Sozin's Comet. Nothing new. But I think it's interesting that the comet during the Air Temple attack appears at night. In the finale of ATLA, it seems the comet appeared either dawn or dusk. It might be symbolic for Sozin's Comet tp appear during the Air Temple at night and for it to appear again at dawn 100 years later. I think it's pretty clear what it means, if this is the case. 0:50 Temples are reminiscent of Pelkor Choede Monastery and Sakya Monastery, assuming the temples are indeed reddish. It does have domes so that's an interesting choice. On the top right, it seems to be reminiscent of actual stupa, but this entirely speculative. If you look at the overall shot, there is a bright a golden light that is the brightest among other sources of light in the shot. It could be the first fire blast initiated by Firelord Sozin or some kind of ceremony that requires a bonfire. We know it's fire because we can see smoke coming off of it if we go frame by frame. 1:00 Those are definitely Firebenders using fire to "fly". But what this does is suggest that they did not need dragons to attack the temple, assuming that people speculate that dragons wouldn't allow it blah blah. Now it's a different thing if they still show Sozin riding his dragon before proceeding to fly off and attack. I don't know what we are supposed to see or what the writers are supposed to do. Should we expect Sozin's dragon to sulk and not want to fly and so Sozin leaves alone or what's up? lol 1:37 Looks like Zuko arriving to his boat after his Blue Spirit Shenanigans. Notice that his swords are not in the sheath. This might mean that he leaves his sword behind after the encounter and Zhao finds the sheath in Zuko's room after, which is different from what happens originally, where Zhao finds the actual swords propped up on Zuko's wall. 1:40 At least they kept the Fire Nation salute. **cant timestamp because it's not in your video** We definitely saw the Fire Nation Capital in one of the messenger hawk shot. We can see the volcanic caldera walls in the distance and the tall tower is surrounded by houses lit up by lamps. If this was the set for Blue Spirit, there would've been barely any houses around it. 2:00 We can see the woman at front is likely Suki's mom, teaching them. 1:57 Makes it look like Suki feels she doesn't quite belong in the Kiyoshi Warriors. Projecting an arc for this, she will probably understand herself and the Warriors better, as soon as she teaches Sokka and when she herself witnesses Avatar Kiyoshi herself. (📌pin on this) By realizing her purpose, she will probably start her arc to lead a group of Kiyoshi Warriors to help across the Earth Kingdom. Assuming, Ty Lee follows her character arc and my speculation comes true, they both share a sort of a similar arc or should I say: similar emotional conclusion. But this is just off of one shot, and no solid evidence is present as of now. 3:22 No idea why Iroh is sun burnt. If this was the solstice episode, then Iroh isn't naked in the live action unlike the original version where he was capture naked in a hot spring. Although, he seems to be wearing Earth Kingdom clothing. It might also be the poisonous tea from season 2. **cant timestamp because it's not in your video* Zuko pins Aang's portrait. To the left of it, we can see a portrait of Avatar Yang Chen. Below, we can see a marked map of the Patola Mountain Range where the Southern Air Temple is located. Obviously, most of the left side is a big map of the four nations. There is a letter pinned on top of the map so I wonder the letter is from or to whom it is addressed. 4:11 Isn't this Admiral Zhao walking away? This would mean that they swap out Zuko during the Kiyoshi Island episode. If so, what will Zuko be doing instead? 4:11 We vaguely see a bald person (probably Aang) about to land with his leg curled up, his right hand holding a reflective metal object parallel to his ear and the left hand stretched downward holding another metal object (likely Kiyoshi's metal fans). We can also notice that the face is without red tones so he must have the geisha make up on for it the skin to look that neutral. If you use the "." button on your keyboard to go two frames, you will see the he points his right hand downward with a fan in a slicing motion to create the blast of air. This 📌 pin i typed above is for this one: After he lands and emerges from the dust, we might see Avatar Kiyoshi possess Aang, which originally happens in season 2. I'd be okay with this change because Zhao is there and the stakes are high enough to deserve a Kiyoshi buff. Now, if Roku possesses Aang in the following episode, I don't know the impact this will have. It might come across as too much of a plot armor assuming we barely ever see this possession happen overall. 4:18 We see Sokka piloting Appa and Aang helping Katara up. I don't know when this is but assuming they are in a dense forest, this is in the Earth Kingdom. 4:19 I don't know how I feel about Katara's little elbow nudge to Aang. It feels less motherly than Katara was on the show and more of like a friend nudge. Again, I don't know how I feel about it. I just wanted to point it out. Although, I feel optimistic because this scene might be the end of the pilot episode. The episode was leaked to be "Into the Dark". I speculate that the episode will start with the Air Temple attack and several elaborations on a global attack to trigger the 100-year war. This extended exposition will deliver the darkness that the title suggests. Throughout the episode, it will likely be sprinkled with small glimmers of hope, and the pilot will end with them leaving the Air Temple (without Momo) after Aang finds out what happened to his people. Aang is sad and dazed as they leave but Katara gives him a "gentle nudge" so that Aang notices that Momo is flying with them. The episode ends optimistically as Aang concludes that at least he still has Momo and Appa left from his erased culture. That's when we see him giggling and head patting Momo. 5:27 I'm also not sure where this shot happens. What we do know is that Katara is wearing her necklace and the lamp they are holding resembles the lamp in the background of Aang at 4:03 . This could mean that Katara never loses her necklace and this is before or during the Earthbenders Imprisoned episode. It could also be during the Siege of the Northern Water Tribe Arc, which we know Katara's necklace place a role to convince Master Paku, plus the similar lamps that I mentioned. I'm betting that this is during the Imprisoned episode and this shot of Sokka and Katara are them reacting to Aang's plan to use the underground coal mine so that the Earthbenders can escape. These are my thoughts for now. Let me know what you think. : )
The first season is water. I’ve watched the animated series. I did NOT watch the movie (thankfully). It’s 8 hour long episodes not the 10 that IMDB says. 🤪 Here’s a list of episode titles: The Last Airbender Warriors Omashu Spirited Away Into the Dark Masks The North Legends Maybe Aang goes to visit Roku’s island in Spirited Away. And then he gets captured by Commander Zhao and rescued by Zuko wearing the Blue Spirit mask in Masks. 🤷♀️ We’ll have to watch and see.

I was here for the livestream. It was great seeing it go up to 3k viewers at its peak
I think that might actually be Avatar Kyoshi who drops down like that on Kyoshi Island, like in the show when Roku helps Aang escape after learning about the comet.
I was worried at first. But when they played the version of the avatar theme I was like this could be good.
Yes please may I have another..also take my money 😮...can't wait
Literally was waiting for your post as soon as the trailer dropped lol
me
Momo and upper look awesome. Don’t listen to the haters that can’t even create a pixel of animation themselves.
the got the race on point too. water tribe are inuit, air nomads are tibetan(probably), fire nation are chinese(probably) and earth kingdom are mixed. and they didnt make a whole group of people use all their strength to make one rock float slowly through the air
we must be cautiously optimistic. dont' let yourself get to hype for this. its better not to expect much and be surprised later on
Honestly… and this is just for me personally: This trailer has done its job well in bringing me back to my 6 year old self in my grandmother’s attic, accidentally coming across the premiere of ATLA on Nick Jr in 2005.
Apart from the fact that some of the CGI looks like it needs some work I loved what I saw here!
subbing
@@nirgunawish appreciate it my breakdown is going live in 15!
Sir the cgi is on point. Ok the earth kingdom was in this. There was no earth kingdom in the atrocious film adaption
Oh my god im crying
The first time he uses the glider his feet are proped up as well.
thank you so much for making breathtaking content you brighten my day
i think aang in the avatar state is going to be much more epic, the shot we got was just him entering the avatar state, if I had to guess it's him entering the spirit world
Shot of Zuko with the saluting soldiers is on Azula's ship as she finds them.
BROO, glad ur back!
i am hopeful, please don't hurt me netflix, you get this right and i will be your most loyal customer
This looks so good!
I’m so exited for the full Agni Kai scene
The bending looks true to the show thats why the shot was better he didnt need a campfire to bend
My brothers practically squealed like fangirls when Suki showed up
I thought this trailer actually looked amazing and it got me so hyped
That iroh and zuko scene is when iroh got captured by raiding rhinos .. in cartoon he was naked by ofcourse he is not naked in this😊
This looks much better than I expected. After the 2010 movie I didn't have high hopes for this series.
I cried when I saw momo, man damn it's really happening
The sets look amazing and the characters look good to me, minus Zuko's absent scar, but I'm not sold on the bending yet.
Suki's Makup is on point and Kyushi warriors looks great.
They feel real, not a cosplay for me.
Y'all really missed the stream.
I’m ashamed of y’all
The shot of Sokka and Katara in the dark looks like they’re in the air temple where all the avatar statues where and that’s where Momo came in.
Something like the fire lord getting a shocking news after a minor victory in one of the nations or might even be whatever they actually did there in the show😅
So excited for this! The release date can't come soon enough
I just really hope Aang has that Mean super baddass look when he goes into the Avatar State !
I was. Here when the stream was live
Appa looks addorable. I love it xD
I’m so happy that Appa and Momo don’t look creepy, unlike the 2010 film.
I wonder if they'll do the koy fish scence and that giant serpent in the kyoshi island episode
I cant believe this is actually happening
Should we expect Sozin's dragon to sulk and not want to fly and so Sozin leaves alone or what's up? lol
1:37 Looks like Zuko arriving to his boat after his Blue Spirit Shenanigans.
: )
Man I read the whole thing thanks for explaining 😅😅
The first season is water. I’ve watched the animated series. I did NOT watch the movie (thankfully). It’s 8 hour long episodes not the 10 that IMDB says. 🤪 Here’s a list of episode titles:
The Last Airbender
Warriors
Omashu
Spirited Away
Into the Dark
Masks
The North
Legends
Maybe Aang goes to visit Roku’s island in Spirited Away. And then he gets captured by Commander Zhao and rescued by Zuko wearing the Blue Spirit mask in Masks. 🤷♀️ We’ll have to watch and see.
i want a realistic momo plush so very very badly
