Batman checks messages “You have 1 new message: beep Batman, it’s J’onn. I’m asking everyone in the League if they’ve seen my friend Lalilu? I was showing him around the planet as a goodwill tour with his people, but I kind of lost track of him. He’s a little pink guy. Nicest person you’ll ever meet. If you have any information, please let me know.” Batman: “…” “Message deleted.”
38:29 In Gotham Knights, if you read the emails sent between characters in between story missions, you find out Tim Drake actually is an amateur cryptid hunter and was planning a trip with friends for that purpose.
In terms of Kook follow ups I kind of want to see him on Task Force X as the red herring guy most likely to die. He has a strong power set, a sad back story , and a lost love everything you need for a redemption arc on that book. Plus he broke into area 51 Waller totally grabbed him.
Batman invading Area 51 seems like a crazy idea for a story that I never thought in a million years that story would ever be a thing but here’s which is very interesting in my opinion.
I love these back issues. The weird ones I've never heard of, the crazy stories where you could mistake it for a fever dream but NO, IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. Thank you Sal, Ben and Ethan for doing stories like this.
Lol, in the last 4 minutes Ethan, without knowing it, while joking about silly ideas for a Batman story, pitches the plot of an actually existing Batman one-shot by Alan Grant called "The Scottish Connection"...
I read this comic at the height of my personal X-Files obsession! Couldn't recommend it more. It's zany and silly and Norm Breyfogle's art really shines here, I mean did you see that monster truck batmobile??
14:26 I would think this would lead Batman to assume it was Professor Milo. Plot that involves messing with Batman's mind, fear toxin, the Area 51 guys all worked for a mysterious doctor, it all adds up nicely to Milo. But then I remembered that would actually make sense. Edit: Now knowing the villain's plot, it really should've been Milo.
In your pitch for the hypothetical Batman and Robin book searching for Bigfoot, you probably have forgotten that the DC universe does have a Bigfoot facsimile named The Shaggy Man. We could easily get a Batman/Shaggy Man comic and I would totally read that!
Alan Grant wrote most of one of my favorite eras of Batman period. But he definitely likes to insert some of his conspiracies into his writing. So. Many. Laylines.
I think there it's something to Batman and Tim being conspiracy theorists. I always thought it would be something they both connect on. Batman and Tim figure out everyone's identities. For fun and stuff like that.
Maybe her first name is Hal and her middle initial is A. So not only would her name be Hal, but her initials would also. Because her dad really liked 2001 a lot.
Hey, about Staines' scorpions... King Mob (Morrison's self-insert in The Invisibles) also has a scorpion tattoo on their back. Must be something referring to Morrison.
The idea that Area 51 is a big deal in DC Comics continuity is just silly. Silly in a bad way, not silly in a comic book way. Places like S.T.A.R Labs and Cadmus exist, and Batman has dealt with aliens and weird science a ton of times. There really isn’t anything they could put in Area 51 to make that an interesting hook without a lot of creativity
I think the scorpions attacking the batwall is another Morrison reference. In The Invisibles, Morrison's self insert character is a psychic spy named King Mob who gets his powers from a Voo Doo scorpion god and has a scorpion tattoo on his back
I need to read Batman Dreamland! I’ve never read this story before, so thank you for the recommendation, Comicpop! Batman invading Area 51 is nuts. I need to read Batman Abduction too. It’s like Batman is trying to be abducted by the Alien franchise again🤣🤣
Unrelated to the (hilarious) episode but remember when you guys talked about James Cameron's Spider-Man script treatment ? That was one of my favorite episodes tbh. It'd be awesome if ya'll would do something like that for George Miller's Justice League script or even Kevin Smith's Superman Lives ! Loads of love
Dreamland is also the name of Art Bell's secondary radio show in the 90's next to Coast to Coast AM. It went on to be hosted by Whitley Strieber, the man who wrote Communion, the book that Popularized the Grey alien archetype.
I find it hilarious now that there are 2 ComicPop videos that have forced Context citations and it's for this specific series of Batman stories. Hilariously
Dont be alarmed! But ComicPop knocks it out of the park with another hilarious episode! 😂 Hopefully y'all cover the Just Imagine series where Stan Lee has his take on the DC heroes 🙏🏼
Maybe... just maybe don't approach people out of the shadows as a symbol of fear you cultivated over years of experience, trauma, and world travel and then ask them to not be alarmed.
At least Breyfogle brought his A game for his last bat story. The art looks friggin awesome, better than anything in his original bat run, wich was pretty awesome itself.
In regards to Aliens being in Area 51... If there ever was anything weird there at all it's certainly not anymore. As soon as it became a Pop culture thing it would have all been moved somewhere we don't even know the name of.
Batman popping up behind someone in a vent going "You fool!" is peak Batman.
“Alfred, are you familiar with the hit mobile game Among Us?”
Indeed.
I keep thinking of Gilbert Godfrey in Hollywood Squares lol

This story feels like a more "serious" version of what would happen in a silver age story... and for that I kind of love it.
Batman being so damn unbelieving in aliens despite being best pals with Superman and working with Martian Manhunter will never not be funny
Not to mention the 3 Batman vs Predator series
38:29 In Gotham Knights, if you read the emails sent between characters in between story missions, you find out Tim Drake actually is an amateur cryptid hunter and was planning a trip with friends for that purpose.
I was not expecting this! I’m so excited. The first Batman Abduction story is one of my all time favorite episodes
"Then, they get attacked by a giant gorilla". First thought: where's Tiffany?! 🤣
The Red Ghost Strikes Again!
In terms of Kook follow ups I kind of want to see him on Task Force X as the red herring guy most likely to die. He has a strong power set, a sad back story , and a lost love everything you need for a redemption arc on that book. Plus he broke into area 51 Waller totally grabbed him.

Grant and Breyfogle actually reunited for DC Retroactive: Batman - The 90s, so they had one more Batman story left in them.
was gonna say this as well, I vaguely recalled they had re-teamed for something as a throwback
Lol, in the last 4 minutes Ethan, without knowing it, while joking about silly ideas for a Batman story, pitches the plot of an actually existing Batman one-shot by Alan Grant called "The Scottish Connection"...
Yeah, at least that one had less ridiculous moments that this one shot. Also, we got Bruce Wayne in a kilt!
The minute Taizon was mentioned all I was waiting for is to hear him sing “Chocolate Rain”! 😂
You know it’s serious when your video has the Area 51 Context pop up 😂
I still hate those pop ups
They're onto Sal.

Nice to see Ben has upgraded from the whoopee cushion.
I love the first thing Batman says emerging from the embrace of the shadows like some biblically accurate angel is " Child, be not afraid."
It's been an especially rough week, and gosh darn you guys just make it...better. thanks
Man norm breyfogyles art is so gorgeous definitely my top artists to touch the character
The promised day has arrived! Batman Vs Fake Aliens 2!
Alan Grant wrote most of one of my favorite eras of Batman period. But he definitely likes to insert some of his conspiracies into his writing. So. Many. Laylines.
there better be a fake doctor doing fake autopsies with handkerchiefs right now 😂 36:39
If this book features, Batman, doing the Naruto run at area 51… Best comic ever lol
So the trilogy is actually Abduction--Dreamland--Doomsday Clock. Clearly, the central theme is you see what you want to see unless Selly is there!
I think there it's something to Batman and Tim being conspiracy theorists. I always thought it would be something they both connect on. Batman and Tim figure out everyone's identities. For fun and stuff like that.
Hell yeah, Abduction is probably my most watched episode
Less than 30 seconds in and i'm already laughing my ass off
Gotta re-watch Abduction now. Always a good laugh. Thanks guys!
Love me some goofy Batdude tales. Love this channel as well. 👽👍🏼
Maybe her first name is Hal and her middle initial is A. So not only would her name be Hal, but her initials would also. Because her dad really liked 2001 a lot.
Comic Pop: Come for the discussions about favorite and forgotten story arcs of yesteryear
Stay for the Attack of the Killer Tomatoes references
It's good to know that Alan Grant read at least the first half of The Invisibles.
Hey, about Staines' scorpions... King Mob (Morrison's self-insert in The Invisibles) also has a scorpion tattoo on their back. Must be something referring to Morrison.
You convinced me...just bought both. Mostly for thr art & Morrison ribbing
So Batman broke into Area 51 before the 2019 event?!
Dropping the second I wake up? Perfect
Was not expecting aliens with a title like dreamland. learn something new everyday.
You already know it’s gonna be a good episode when it starts off with a literal Fart-Machine. 😂
She could've been named Haley and gone by Hal. I knew a girl in high school who did that
The idea that Area 51 is a big deal in DC Comics continuity is just silly. Silly in a bad way, not silly in a comic book way. This episode was amazing. 😂 Might actually buy these Batman Abduction books for the lols. 😭
44:33 that was awesome lol. I had totally forgot about that cartoon
I think the scorpions attacking the batwall is another Morrison reference. In The Invisibles, Morrison's self insert character is a psychic spy named King Mob who gets his powers from a Voo Doo scorpion god and has a scorpion tattoo on his back
HOLY SHIT, I NEVER THOUGHT YOU'D DO THIS BOOK! I'M SO HAPPY!
I need to read Batman Dreamland! I’ve never read this story before, so thank you for the recommendation, Comicpop! Batman invading Area 51 is nuts. I need to read Batman Abduction too. It’s like Batman is trying to be abducted by the Alien franchise again🤣🤣
The gun as spoken lmao! 👏

It'd be awesome if ya'll would do something like that for George Miller's Justice League script or even Kevin Smith's Superman Lives ! Loads of love
You guys went ham on this I was laughing the whole way through. Its sad they never did another one of these just cause theyre both so weird
Dreamland is also the name of Art Bell's secondary radio show in the 90's next to Coast to Coast AM. It went on to be hosted by Whitley Strieber, the man who wrote Communion, the book that Popularized the Grey alien archetype.
If her father wanted to name her Hal, he could just have named her Hallie or Haley.
Thought Police adding Context modals for Area 51 now!
I find it hilarious now that there are 2 ComicPop videos that have forced Context citations and it's for this specific series of Batman stories. Hilariously
"He realized that Aliens Don't Exist." Superman. Power Girl. Orion. Martian Manhunter. It's the DCU of course aliens exist
Yeah, we kinda spent two whole episodes addressing that.
Tyzion.... The Mercury Ranger from Power Rangers Operation Overdrive.... Ok I'm out 😅Done
yes!!! the kook returns! im puttin all my chips on kook returning in 2024 too. the kook will rise again!
Dont be alarmed! But ComicPop knocks it out of the park with another hilarious episode! 😂 Hopefully y'all cover the Just Imagine series where Stan Lee has his take on the DC heroes 🙏🏼
Ben with best naming of a character ever...❤
Or call her halee. And her nicknames hal.
46:16 Who's the random guard who asks why don't they just take his mask off lol
i hope you guys do Inhumans by jenkins one day. i know no one likes inhumans but it's really good.
Good stuff!
Maybe... just maybe don't approach people out of the shadows as a symbol of fear you cultivated over years of experience, trauma, and world travel and then ask them to not be alarmed.
Such a shame no more Grant/Breyfogle after this. One shots & graphic novels outside continuity would never've hurt the 2000s DC. For shame.
At least Breyfogle brought his A game for his last bat story. The art looks friggin awesome, better than anything in his original bat run, wich was pretty awesome itself.
The whole idea Batman wouldn't know if aliens exist when he's besties with Superman lol
22:30 I dunno, I can imagine quite a bit..
I think they would know aliens exist because of Superman Martian man hunter and the many types of aliens in the DC universe
Best thing to look forward to on Wednesdays!
What a final line oh my god
I'd pay good money to read a Batman and Robin story where they look for Bigfoot if, of course, it's written by Sal.
Still waiting on you guys to do Batman: Year 100 by Paul Pope someday! Another great but severely overlooked Batman story.
"That's right old chum."
Bigfoot has a book in DC comics. Detective Bigfoot she works with Wonder Women if I remember right.
Batman looking for loch ness. Hmmm... Batman: Treefifty
Gonna have to rewatch the first one before I see this.
You guys joke, but Grant did a story about Batman going to Scotland, with art by Frank Quitely no less
I forgot have you guys done a video on Nick Spencer’s Spider-man run yet ?
Not yet!
Batman: Coincidenceland
Alan Grant? The dinosaur guy?
No. Scottish writer of Judge Dredd and Judge Anderson, he was hired in 1988 to bring a Dredd flavor to Detective Comics. He also wrote DC's The Demon.
If Batman was with us four years ago, then we could have successfully stormed Area 51. Naruto running didn’t actually make us outrun the bullets.
Hey Hey you got Giorgio Tsoukalos from History Channels Ancient Aliens and also he was in two episodes of SYFY Channels Resident Alien
Batman and Tim look for Bigfoot and find Chewbacca instead of bigfoot!
9:44 was Ethan quoting Mark Margolis from PI?
Area 51 : We have fun here
So this is how Zu N R 'a brain works?
Danggg Gail Lewis!
But the kook came back the very next book. The kook came back.
You thought he was a goner but the kook came back. He just couldn’t stay away.
In regards to Aliens being in Area 51... If there ever was anything weird there at all it's certainly not anymore. As soon as it became a Pop culture thing it would have all been moved somewhere we don't even know the name of.
The Kook should return. And it should be in a new marvel vs DC crossover 😂
Oh no he gave Ben a book
So this is what Tay Zonday is up to these days?
This is delightfully silly
Norm Breyfogle died?! This is how I find out? 😢
Batman!
It's a Batastrophe 😂
Batman: Chupacabra
Wasn't there a Batman story where he finds the Holy Grail?
@@dreamlandnightmare nah I found the title. Its the Chalice.
I miss campy silly stuff.
