The thing about everyone not liking Aquaman back in the day I feel like it led to Aquaman being a stealth household name, like we all subconsciously just grew to accept the fish man
Never forget: Somehow, Entourage predicted a massive success for a Aquaman film over a decade before it happened. It also predicted that Aquaman 2 would do "good". Can Entourage lighting strike twice? Let history be the judge!
@@akiraeatsguitarpicks491Really? I never would have thought of that considering Norm is already the short version of Norman. Learn something new everyday.
ComicPop is probably the only thing on RUclips where I actually wait every week for new episodes. It's been like 5-6 years for me since I've discovered this channel at least, and yall NEVER disappoint me. Thank you very much. Can't wait for next week already lol
I understand why you can’t do Aquaman books super often, since you need money to buy food and pay rent, but this is one of the funniest back issues to date and the Sub Diego video is also top tier back issues
Or daughter. Can do the story where he finally marries Mera which was promised in the Rebirth one-shot. Would also mean they could talk about Future State since the daughter got 2 stories there(the Aquaman one as a kid and the JL one where she’s the most normal of the team and is the only one to like another member of the team instead of treating it all like work)
I know it'll probably be a long time before they do another Aquaman book but I would love for Sal and the crew to do Aquaman Underworld someday. I feel like Abnett's whole Rebirth run was actually pretty amazing
So they are absolutely referencing Celtic mythology in the story. One of the classic enemies of the Tuatha de Danaan were the Fomorians, which were referenced to as "sea people" in some stories which some interpret as them being IN the sea, not just, like, sailors or something. But the CHARACTERS are funny because the names I'm catching would seem to represent the Tuatha de Danaan, the NOT sea people. Silverhand is absolutely a reference to a Celtic King. His story is even more batshit, as he was a great hero who was DENIED the throne because of losing a hand in combat, and the King must have a "perfect form". He was gifted his silver hand by the Fae which allowed him to assume the throne.
The Aquaman book during DC Rebirth was so, so good. The first volume would make a great back issues just to see reactions to Aquaman and Mera's tag team match vs Superman.
Aquaman lore is fun, I always like learning more about it. Also, every dive set-up I've dove with has had two regulator mouthpieces - there's a backup in case something goes wrong with the first and you need it, or if your dive partner's equipment is compromised and they need to use your air to get to safety.
Livewire in the Superman Blue suit was great! If they ever want to make her a anti-hero or at least more of a "criminal" and less of a "supervillain" they should have her get it again
If there was ever another Aquaman story covered I think it should be the Rebirth story where Atlantis is locked out from the world in a shield, Aquaman becomes a freedom fighter and Mera joins the JL and tries to get the shield open from the outside. Oh and it has art from the creator of Harleen.
Well done, gents! I was laughing out loud with you while trying to follow the Aquaman bouncing ball, and I've been reading his comics for, like, 60 years. Orm!
The myths about Atlantis said the city had a power source that caused it to sink, people say that they predicted electricity hundreds of years early but I think they were imagining more of a magic power source so this new status quo makes sense
THIS IS WHERE THE CRYSTALS COME FROM?!?! I remember reading one of the first arcs of the the rebirth Justice League thinking how stupid this plot device is and had no idea it was apart of established Aquaman continuity.
Nuada pronounced " new- ada" was Prince of the tuatha de danan ( i think and I think thats how it's spelled) who later became the fae, and later fairies. The firbold could be pronounced a lot of ways but fair bolg is common and it translates from gaelic as "men of bags". In the book of invasions the men of bags are settlers in Ireland that bring good soil in bags to the island. The tuatha de danan were Celtic gods that's why there was a Celtic cross on the door... I think they went into the underworld basically and humans kept the surface, as far as I know it wasn't under da sea. At least that's what I remember
btw would you please make a video about jenkins' Inhumans? i know no one cares about inhumans but i really wanna see you guys talking about the best Inhumans story.
Holy hell I saw this comic in an article titled "top ten aquaman stories" 4 days ago... 2 days ago I found it in a set at my lcs...and Im reading it now ...comic pop is truly serendipitous ❤
Everyone shots on Justice League Detroit (rightfully so), but I find it interesting that Vibe, Vixen, Citizen Steel and Gypsy kind of had a moment on the arrow verse shows. I wonder what their recognizability is now
My head is spinning after this book. I just need to decompress and listen to your review on the Knightfall Saga. At least that book has about as much subtlety and intricacies as a season on the WWF.
Is Michigan really land locked though? They've got access to lake Michigan, which going through the other lakes eventually gets you to the Atlantic if I'm not mistaken?
As weird as this story is, it’s still what any Aquaman book should lean into ; Game of Thrones underwater, never even interacts with a surface-world story until after the first year or more worth of stories
I’m looking forward to seeing Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom. He was always seen as joke character during the Hanna Barbera cartoons or Robot Chicken. But. I like he was accurately portrayed in the Justice League animated series. Jason Momoa has done a great job playing Aquaman.
I didn't know Orm was once fully human I glad they didn't keep that and Aquaman is a lucky husband to have Mera I'm glad he didn't nearly cheat on her or anything also Sreng of the Firbolg is the goat🤣
After seeing Ocean Master's "classic" design, we really dodged a bullet in film. The blue and purple look is muc h cooler than all the browns of the original look.
(Azerath) yeah!! I just finished binging the channel yesterday, started in September. But now I can keep up as the show comes out! 🐬 edit: Jason Momoa helped emphasize how absolutely sexy Aquaman can be 🥰
He (aquaman) has far more respect than he once had, but they need to find a way to make him more prominent! One way is to print more stories of other aquatic characters (both hero and villain) so his world seems larger and more important, with a fair amount of them not having to do with Aquaman. More diverse rogue gallery characters should be used to fight their nemesis' so it isn't always (black manta) the same advisary, and of course more supporting characters need to be created around heroes and villains (these would be built as stories are told) and some of them may even get stories from tiem to time.
Pretty sure it’s 24 hours, not an hour. 😂 Like: If he was on a bus and there was slow traffic, I don’t think Arthur would die before his stop. Tell you what though, his 1991 series is a pretty fun read.
Didn't...Aquaman have waterbender powers at one point? Is that recent? It just seems like he's been so underpowered for so long when there's simple things you can do to make him more enjoyable.
All those shades of blue on the suit, and it still couldn't capture how blue Arthur's balls were by the end...
From the future, it may or may not have broken even which compared to previous DCEU movies is an improvement .
With a name like Orm, I never would have thought he was originally a regular human and not Atlantian
“Why… why, brother? Why must we fight?”
“BECAUSE DAD GAVE YOU A REAL NAME AND I’M ‘ORM’, DAMN IT!”
It’s short for Norm
@@akiraeatsguitarpicks491Really? I never would have thought of that considering Norm is already the short version of Norman. Learn something new everyday.
Aquaman is such an interesting character as he was pretty much always famous but never popular.
Your right is one of hidden powers😂😍
❤
I loved how Young Justice tied Vandal Savage to magic and the history of Atlantis
ComicPop is probably the only thing on RUclips where I actually wait every week for new episodes. It's been like 5-6 years for me since I've discovered this channel at least, and yall NEVER disappoint me. Thank you very much. Can't wait for next week already lol
I think it’s funny that Aquaman is like “I don’t talk to fish” bro that’s a cool power that would let you learn so much.
I understand why you can’t do Aquaman books super often, since you need money to buy food and pay rent, but this is one of the funniest back issues to date and the Sub Diego video is also top tier back issues
If you ever do another Aquaman story, why not the one about Aquaman's son?
Or daughter. Can do the story where he finally marries Mera which was promised in the Rebirth one-shot. Would also mean they could talk about Future State since the daughter got 2 stories there(the Aquaman one as a kid and the JL one where she’s the most normal of the team and is the only one to like another member of the team instead of treating it all like work)
You mean the one who died?
@the_well-known_stranger2275 the one who was murdered yes.
I know it'll probably be a long time before they do another Aquaman book but I would love for Sal and the crew to do Aquaman Underworld someday. I feel like Abnett's whole Rebirth run was actually pretty amazing
I agree that was one of the best storylines ever for Aquaman!😊
So they are absolutely referencing Celtic mythology in the story.

You are 100% correct . So many references to Celtic myths
Aquaman’s son wears the blue suit in Batman: Brave and the Bold. So it lived on in the modern age in some form
I am realizing Silverhand’s people really are based on Celtic mythology. The Firbolg thing proved it
The Aquaman book during DC Rebirth was so, so good. The first volume would make a great back issues just to see reactions to Aquaman and Mera's tag team match vs Superman.
wow despite not caring at alllll about aquaman, this reimagining is actually cool, all the magic and fantasy elements are cool
@38:00 the Name Fir Bolg sounds stupid, but it is based on a Irish Legend, if i remember correctly it is the name of a Giant
Aquaman lore is fun, I always like learning more about it.
Also, every dive set-up I've dove with has had two regulator mouthpieces - there's a backup in case something goes wrong with the first and you need it, or if your dive partner's equipment is compromised and they need to use your air to get to safety.
Aquaman wearing blue wait a minute is that where Teen Titans Aqualad costume Came form wow Aqualad rocked that outfit better than Arthur
That was a dope suit
2:04-2:@8 Aquaman's one of my favourite characters un DC, but that was really funny.🤣🤣🤣
Livewire in the Superman Blue suit was great! If they ever want to make her a anti-hero or at least more of a "criminal" and less of a "supervillain" they should have her get it again
To me the best thing about Aquaman is his supporting cast especially Garth and Kaldur.
Yay, Aquaman video. Totally whelmed.
Aquaman is such an underrated gem
First introduced to him through Grant Morrison's JLA run and the DCAU appearances, so I always so him as cool
Loved rewatching this and how Sal just made Aquaman see red like Brock from venture bros. 😂😂😂
If there was ever another Aquaman story covered I think it should be the Rebirth story where Atlantis is locked out from the world in a shield, Aquaman becomes a freedom fighter and Mera joins the JL and tries to get the shield open from the outside. Oh and it has art from the creator of Harleen.
Take a shot every time Sal says "Thierna Na Oge"
But I dinnae wanna die of alcohol poisoning!
Aquaman on Backissues is always a good time
I actually really like this costume of his, wish they’d bring it back
Well done, gents! I was laughing out loud with you while trying to follow the Aquaman bouncing ball, and I've been reading his comics for, like, 60 years. Orm!
this is already one of my favorite back issues episodes
Electric Eel Blue Aquaman
I'm imagining Aquaman doing laps between Windsor and Detroit😂😂😂😂
I live in windsor lmao was thinking the same thing
He looks majestic
Thank you sal for answering questions I didn’t know I needed answers to
The myths about Atlantis said the city had a power source that caused it to sink, people say that they predicted electricity hundreds of years early but I think they were imagining more of a magic power source so this new status quo makes sense
I would love to see Back Issues for Peter David’s run
THIS IS WHERE THE CRYSTALS COME FROM?!?! I remember reading one of the first arcs of the the rebirth Justice League thinking how stupid this plot device is and had no idea it was apart of established Aquaman continuity.

Yes!!!
So excited to have Aquaman ok the couch!
Oh brilliant! Was looking forward to this
btw would you please make a video about jenkins' Inhumans? i know no one cares about inhumans but i really wanna see you guys talking about the best Inhumans story.
12:49 - Ethan I WANTED Aquaman Andromeda 😭
15:57 two brothers in a van
That was surprisingly good! good episode!
We finally riding the tidal wave of Aquaman! Now we can get Sub Diego in like... 7 years!
I’m pretty sure they did sub Diego already something like 3 or 4 years ago
Awesome, i just watched the Sub Diego episode before this one
Holy hell I saw this comic in an article titled "top ten aquaman stories" 4 days ago... 2 days ago I found it in a set at my lcs...and Im reading it now ...comic pop is truly serendipitous ❤
Idk i kinda like the suit lol it would be a fun alternate costume if Aquaman ever had a video game
Recently read this story for the first time, great time.
I like how this suit came back in the 80th anniversary special.
1:26 holy shit that is so accurate.
"YO! We need more of this Blue Suit Aquaman!" said Everyone.
The stealth suit wasn't completely forgotten. In Batman the Brave and the Bold his son Arthur Jr wears it
Was that a Knights of Tir Na Nog reference Ben? Probably was just a reference to actual Celtic Myth not an TV show or anything I know about.
Shout out to Ben with the Mistic Knights reference.
Everyone shots on Justice League Detroit (rightfully so), but I find it interesting that Vibe, Vixen, Citizen Steel and Gypsy kind of had a moment on the arrow verse shows. I wonder what their recognizability is now
Citizen Steel is in Wonder Woman and vibe and vixen were both used in new 52 justice league - I think gypsy was in JLDark at one point as well.
I remember when an Aquaman movie was just a plot line in a season of that show Entourage lol
The suit is cool but I can definitely see that being a artist nightmare and they gave that suit to Aquaman's son in Batman the Brave of the bold
0:56 technically, Michigan is surrounded by the Great Lakes, the largest freshwater system in the world. I don’t think I’d call it landlocked 😝
As weird as this story is, it’s still what any Aquaman book should lean into ; Game of Thrones underwater, never even interacts with a surface-world story until after the first year or more worth of stories
37:44 What are these names 😂
fun video as always!
Oh wow! Someone remembered there's an Aquaman sequel coming out!
“ A landlocked state”
Lake Michigan, Erie & Huron in unison: “Are we a JOKE to you?!?!”
Well you ain't OCEANS
Hopefully like the Aquaman movie, this video will be bolstered by views from China.
In all fairness, Michigan is not land locked, it is surrounded by the great lakes :P
Someone please tell Ben that Michigan is mostly surrounded by water it may be freshwater but water nonetheless.
Yay Aquaman
final nail for dceu
The first 13 minutes essentially being Sal talking about how unpopular Aquaman is just perpetuates how hard it is for me to be a massive Aquaman fan 😂
Some of us have not forgotten!
Aquaman is badass
The suit looks straight out of sea world
Orm is cool when he gets powers because Aquaman is so reserved with his powers and abilities but Orm is not scared to use force to get his way
Great show , shame that DC has released a collected edition of that book.
Lol I was just thinking who would win in a fight animal man or aquaman and this pops ups.
(Azerath) yeah!! I just finished binging the channel yesterday, started in September. But now I can keep up as the show comes out!
🐬
edit: Jason Momoa helped emphasize how absolutely sexy Aquaman can be 🥰
Maybe well get Aquaman Andromeda some day
Btw I'm putting this on again tonight. Something fun to fall asleep to!
He (aquaman) has far more respect than he once had, but they need to find a way to make him more prominent! Well, ocean master is apparently even more raged because he causes Aquaman to lose his hand. Remember that one. 🖐️ 😮
Well, Woopsie do I did not realize you guys mentioned his hand already my bad.😂
Being from Michigan, Aquaman being on JL Detroit isn't a horrible decision. It's only a few HOURS of a drive to one of the Great Lakes.
Well there's the river lol
Blue Suit Aquaman looks like a parody of himself.
i forgot this aquaman story was a thing.
I was thinking the same thing when I saw Aquaman's baby and that Black manta was the main villain.
My favorite Aquaman is John DiMaggio
Aqua blue man group….idk I’ll see myself out.
As an Irishman. This is a tough listen xD.
Pretty sure it’s 24 hours, not an hour. 😂 Like: If he was on a bus and there was slow traffic, I don’t think Arthur would die before his stop. Tell you what though, his 1991 series is a pretty fun read.
I see Aquaman was going threw his “Picasso” period lol
_Aquaman_ makes a billion dollars...the darkest timeline.
I hope they do at least one more aqua man story and I think you all which one.
Didn't...Aquaman have waterbender powers at one point? Is that recent?
It just seems like he's been so underpowered for so long when there's simple things you can do to make him more enjoyable.
I think that was in the water hand storyline he had back in the day. The one with the waters of Camelot or something
Yeah waterhand and the trident. He can't wave his regular hands around and do it
Aquaman made a billion dollars?
What fuckin timeline are we in?!?!
