Hi guys, hope you are doing well. To report crazy prices in Bodrum, luckily it wasn't that bad. Prices similar to your experiences in Izmir, and some prices were even cheaper. Almost every bar has all day until 10 p.m. happy hours, 2 for 1 (3,10 EUR 1 pint beer total), street side restaurants big kebab meal 13 EUR and we stayed 2 different hotels, one of them was Hilton AI Resort per night 205 EUR. Seems like all Turkish prices generally goes up. Anyway, enjoy your stay in Greece, see you in yours next vlog. NB! We was last year in Mykonos and ohh that was expensive island
❤️ Hi travellers, I’m an Izmir guy watching you from Vancouver BC. I’d like to thank you for the videos. I really enjoyed watching your journey and discoveries. Just a small tip in return, when you are home you can make ayran with astro balkan yogurt, just mix a little amount of yogurt with water and salt, add some ice which seperates fat from yogurt, a tea spoon of milk or cream if you want a softer taste and shake the mix enough. It’s one of the healtiest drinks and good for digestion. Stay safe. 🇨🇦🇹🇷
I enjoyed your videos about Turkish street foods, how delicious they are, sometimes I feel like I am eating those good foods with you guys. Thanks sharing your videos with us.
I may never go to Türkiye; but it sure is great seeing a bit of the country through your camera lens. I really appreciate you guys for it. Next up is Greece 👌
Ancient toothpaste in the region was made using mastic, and you can still find them in Greece and Turkey. Furthermore people pay top dollar for mastic toothpaste in the US at high-end stores
Adana is a city in Türkiye you know. We can't make best adana kebaps in İzmir sadly. If you are into gastro-tourism you should visit Adana and Gaziantep for sure.
Yeah thia „Mastika“ is a special tree what growes mostly in Cesme and Greek Island Chios and they built this Trees in Ottoman time there for trading with it ;) . Again a nice food Vlog and I see you find slowly the local and cheaper places . When you want eat cheap and good homefood we go all around Türkiye to a „Lokanta“ this is a Restaurant where you find homefood in Cantine style and all time yummy selections of food and fresh because locals preder this kind of „Restaurant“ ;)
For Iskender Kebap visit Bursa. And eat at Uludag Kebapcisi-Cemal Usta. Adana Kebap ist best in Adana. My preferred place: Onbasilar Kebap (their small sized restaurant in the old city) And when so close don't miss Gaziantep for a variety of dishes and my favorite Turkish city for the peak in almost every meat, fish and vegetables dishes is the province Antakya with Hatay the provice capitol. Hatay has world class cuisine.
Thank you for another great video, Trevor and Anna! The food in Turkey looks delicious. Do you have any recommendations for favourite places to find Turkish or Mexican food in Halifax?
@@DelightfulTravellers thanks, Trevor! I found your channel this year and watched along for a while before realizing you’re Nova Scotians! Enjoyed seeing your summer videos here in NS and slowly making my way through the library of round the world videos you and Anna have created. It is all so enjoyable, thank you!
Yogurt is a product that we cannot give up. We use it in many dishes and appetizers. It is very sad to say that I do not think it will be good for dishes that you have never tried, because you are deprived of them and this is really a great loss for you.
@@DelightfulTravellers Let me tell you a secret. Turkish drinks are generally probiotic, ayran, turnip juice, boza, pickle juice, kefir etc. They may taste bad when you first drink them but once you get used to them you realize that they are very healthy and make you feel good. Sometimes we overdo it with food and balance it with drinks. I love you both and your energy Anna :)
You should not drink the residue at the bottom of your cup of coffee. It is supposed to stay in the cup. Fun fact: it is also used for fortune telling. So, when you finish your coffee the residue is used for fortune telling.
These organizations that list the best places, the best food, etc. are always biased organizations that receive funding. They always show the country they want to praise or attract tourists at the top, there is no good or bad publicity... put it at the top, of course most will believe it and go there. Turkish food has been treated very unfairly, but with the world people's own experiences and the influence of Turkish TV series, Turkish cuisine will reach the leadership position it deserves. In addition, while the ethnic peoples who betrayed the Turks during the Ottoman period, '' Greeks, Armenians and Arabs '' received military and political training in the capitalist countries of the period, their families introduced our cuisine to the world much earlier than us, like Greek, Armenian and Arab cuisine, and made the whole world eat the lie that it was their own cuisine. Greek cuisine is nothing but a cross between Rome, '' Italy '' and Turkish cuisine. even we are learn some foods especially pastry foods but we have pasta before the Italians we call erişte from the Rome, because İtalians was living here too. Just like today Germany can come out and say that döner is a dish belonging to German culture. It should never be say just a dish, the moment you have your culture and cuisine stolen, they will spend you like a coin. Especially in these lands full of enemies. Have a nice travel.
Gore me, Cappadocia was cool. Adona kebobs are the best! I used to eat at a BP's gas station outside of Incirlic AFB, that had incredible food. Of course that was back in the 1980's. Sorry the prices have gone up. Did love living there, the people are very nice!
Really enjoyed this Turkey series 😊. I do wonder though..on these food videos do you ever try anything and think urghh this is minging (disgusting) 😅. Maybe you do but dont film those ones unless you are just very lucky and everything is nice. See you in Chios !
Thanks so much! 🤗 First, we always try to find food we like and we don't set out to purposely eat things we know we wouldn't like (ex: scorpions, bugs etc). Yuck! We're also big foodies so we do like most things.. just not 'weird things'. But, there's definitely some Scottish and Vietnam food videos where we got a bit adventurous and some dishes were not our favourite (on camera) - Anna
The reason alcohol is expensive in Turkey is because every time you have a drink, you involuntarily buy one for the government as well. Current government is almost radically religious so they don't drink but they sure love taxes from it

Three words for this video: OM NOM NOM 😋😆. See you (via video) in Greece! 🇬🇷

Isn’t mastic like pine or evergreen?
İskender kebap - kokoreç - kol böreği - midye dolma - BAKLAVA - rakı - sarımsaklı yoğurtlu yaprak sarma - sütlaç ?
😋
It is pronounced keemale ("le" pronounced as in French!) which means "with ground beef".
