What F5J model are you flying?
Yeah, F5J is pretty cool! Can't say I like dealing with the motor and ESC etc but allowing for the lighter layups has its advantages clearly, especially with the lower launch height point bonus or conversely, the higher launch height penalty. I have to wonder though, if that were not the case, if a heavier layup with longer legs would be better performing overall? Just getting in to F5J, have a Vixen 2 Vtail on the bench. It's a 3.68M strong layup, should build out to < 1450g. :)

I tried launching my BAMF2 with more up elevator, and it did indeed launch a little higher. (Maybe 10 or 15 feet?) I had to release the launch preset button quicker, but that was easy to time.

@@ArmSoar I also liked the added bit of "load" on the plane upon release...a bit more to push off of, if that makes any sense...
Impressive launch there Toby! What weight is your Vortex to accomplish that altitude? Can you throw that high with a lighter AUW or Light layup? Love the interview episodes as I can't get to all the contests I'd like. So, nice to meet you, sort of! Lol
The 103M launch was with a 2 piece wing Vortex 3. It weighed around 265g, however I was able to launch a 235g snipe to 300ft. So weight plays it’s part a little but setup for launch is most important
