the beehive candle is based off something called a courting candle, back in the day the candle would be lit in a sitting room by the lady's father and left to burn while the couple conversated when the candle would burn out it was a quiet yet firm reminder the suitor should end the date. its also interesting to note the father could change the amount of time the candle would burn based on how comfortable he felt about the suitor.
the candles were also used in pretty much all economic backgrounds
Thank you for this amazing information on this beautiful candle. I bought one for my sister several years ago because it’s so cool looking, but now it’s even better knowing my single sister could light it durning a date and get a good giggle when it goes out.
The way Christopher didn't even flinch when the confetti came out. Lol
He's too stable lol
I need some old school Rach videos again. Some buy or byes!
Yessss!!!! I misss buy or bye so much!!!!
Yes please
Not downing Rach, but everything across the channels is tiktok made me.....vids and I kiss the variety and fun!
What about when she tried products for two weeks. Teo weeks check ins?! Lol
I was thinking this recently as well. I miss her old video style this is all the same and I’m kinda bored of it
The "beehive candle" is what they called a "courting candle" a hundred or so years ago. The girl's parents would use it to tell her boyfriend when it was time to go home.
I came here to say this! My stepmom had one. She was born in 1928.
I just watched Mia Maples and she shed light on how Halara is most likely fast fashion. I was wondering as well due to all the ads and they seem problematic to me like Temu etc.
I'm pretty sure they've also stolen designs from independent brands like popflex, which is made by another youtuber.
@@oxar1122 look at the comments on the Mia Maples video, it suggests that Halara existed before popflex, and that the main critic is that they have now copied the advertising style (therefore duping people who assume it might be popflex). As in some people were buying products for years before popflex. As to fast fashion, I think it's mainly because they don’t display their production process/standards. This is from that comments section. I don’t buy either cos I have things that might technically be fast fashion (from supermarkets) but have lasted for years (like 20+).
@nickyrowley7681 oh interesting! Yeah, I try to minimize fast fashion shopping because of the potential ecological and human labor impacts, but I also recognize that a lot of people simply can't afford otherwise. And as a plus size person, there are almost no slow fashion brands (that i know of) in my size that carry truly of-the-moment trendy styles. I think if they were more transparent, it would be easier to feel like supporting them.
@@nickyrowley7681Popflex opened in 2016. Halara in 2020.
I bought the volumizing clips and HATED them until...I pulled the velcro off. It comes off easily and underneath, there are tiny little 'bumps' that provide some grip so they don't just fall out. I have curly hair and can't afford anything that causes frizziness and these work GREAT once you pull the velcro off. Try it!
That's a great tip! If I get them I will definitely try that because Velcro in my hair is a DISASTER. I don't know how people make it work but oh my goodness it catches like crazy on my hair.
@@susanjeffries5108 Same!
I was just thinking "oh man those would demolish my thin curly hair"
The blanket gets softer with each wash! High-quality cotton and linen will feel stiff and even uncomfortable at first, but washing kind of loosens and fluffs the fibers.
Hey besties, about the volumizing hair clips!!!
The ColourWow Raise The Root spray that the girl used in the original video is WAAAY different than the Living Proof Texture and Volume spray that Rach used. Both are good however, the Raise The Root is more like a strong hold liquid hairspray that’s DOES give crazy volume, and the Living Proof one is more like a dry shampoo/texture spray. I personally use both products day to day and in my experience, I use Raise The Root when drying and styling, and I use the Living Proof one for touch up volume on dry hair on day 2-7 day hair.
Does anyone else feel like her lashes look awesome?
since you try a lot of products could you do an update every fews months of things you actually make use of from the things you have tried out please?
It’s so annoying when a volumizung product doesn’t work well on fine hair…. We need it the most!
Omg yes!!!!
I know, people are saying that people of colour are overlooked when it comes to hair products. That's true, but people with fine hair have even less options when it comes to hair products.
I'm so glad you tried the hair volume clips. I have fine hair also, so this is very helpful
I find that anything for fine hair just makes my hair dry! And it feels gross. I want beautiful smooth healthy ANd bouncy hair!
@@nitsirkroyyes!!!!! Every product I have tried makes my hair feel so yucky. All of those “volumizing” powders work, but I can’t handle how they make my hair feel.🤮
On the volumizing clips, work from bottom up so that each new curl sits on top of the one you just clipped. Then they don't get all tangled together. The velcro damage will be real, though .. how fast you hair is trashed just depends how healthy your hair is to start. Same volummizing results are possible with any roller clip or alligator-type clip - just clip reallllly close to roots. No velcor damage.
Watching the video when you have those volumizing clips in is the funniest thing lol
I’m sorry but with all the hair clips in I’m getting Cynthia vibes from Rugrats 😂. Also as a fellow fine haired gal this has me both intrigued and terrified all at once. Very conflicting emotions 😅😂
"No I'm going to break off and die."
I snort-laughed. I know the struggle, and appreciate you trying things like this for us fine-haired folk!
My mother had super fine hair. She would brush her hair upside down and use a max hold spray, then curl clip. When the clips came out, she would tease the curls...Amazing volume for super fine hair. ❤
Rachel always buys everything I am looking at buying so I don’t have to… or makes me want it more 😂
Same!
I love the confetti gift box! I’d totally use that for a gift.
And I like the card dealer. Combine that with a shuffler and you’ve got a great gift for someone who loves playing cards, but has difficulty shuffling and holding a deck to deal.
Gotta love a bracelet/epilator combo 😁. Wear them for a day or two and the problem solves itself 👍🏻
😂😂😂
“WHO IS DOING THIS SUCCESSFULLY AND HOW?” me @ life lol
Have you tried a blue shampoo inside of purple? Your hair tone may benefit more from blue! ❤
Why does the hair-volumizer-clip-look make me think of Tina Turner in Beyond Thunderdome? Rachh is totally rocking the post-apocolypse look!
Christopher getting confettied made my day. ❤ Thank you, that was really nicely pranky. 😊
The candle would be good for those of us that aren't as attentive as we could be with candles since it basically has an auto-extinguisher more or less. Obviously, don't leave your candles alone but better to have something else that could help just in case.
I think the mascara looks great
Would love a "best of" makeup video of products you've loved this year!
I have the H&M blanket and absolutely love it. It's a perfect summer tv blanket we have it over our blue couch so it looks beautiful and I snuggle with it all the time. It is 100% linen which is probably why she didn't feel it soft (also why we only use it in the summer), linen gets softer with time and washes so do take that into account
To be honest ot looks like a cheesecloth in the video.
@@stephaniekrilyno2186 it kinda looks like cheesecloth in real life too 😅. It has several layers of fabric interwoven, so it's not a single thin piece of fabric. I do agree with Rachel that it's too small for a bed bigger than a twin size.
I was wondering if it needed washing. The sandcloud towels get softer and fluffier with washing too.
Those volumizing hair clips looked hysterical 😂I couldn’t take you seriously, but a good laugh. You crack me up. Real life.
I love your dedication to trying volumizing/curling gadgets for us fine hair girls ❤😂❤❤❤
Same! I love it too! 🙌🏻✨️
I'm here to guinea pig these tools for all of us 🙌
Whoever edits your videos, man A++! I’m rolling over here! And I’ve only ever loved the Thrive mascara as far as tubing mascaras go.
I love your videos so much, Rach! Thanks for the Tik Tok vibes video.
That cut from testing the purple drops back to brows (with volume hairstyle) is just too funny - thanks for making me giggle about that incredible hairstyle hahaha
21st century hairdo to george washington reaaaaaal quick 🤣
The entire time she was doing the brow product and was like ' Does that look good ' my eyes were trained on the crazy look going on atop her head. She could've actually had a cat's eye type issue with her brows like she said and I probably wouldn't have even noticed 😂
I love your videos! “They look like my eyes! Blahhh” you are equal halves hilarious and super helpful during your reviews 💕💕
I just lost my dad on Tuesday (eff cancer, amirite?!) and wasn't sure I was still able to smile (and certainly not laugh) but GIRL! @22:10, I legit LOL'd. So thank you, Rach. Sending love to anyone else that may be struggling.
So sorry for your loss
I absolutely love your honest opinions on all your trial products. I love the root hair volumizing clips! I will try them too!
The clips in your hair...priceless 😂😂😂❤
Whoa that confetti contraption worked surprisingly good! Interesting 👍
The beginning of the video with the clips was the most relatable part ever! I was hysterical at all your comments and facial expressions. Thanks for making me laugh at 6am when my whole family is asleep LOL you’re a rockstar! Love it!!! 💜
I really need a rec for an awesome non clumping waterproof mascara. All the waterproof versions seem to clump so easily!
Same! I have to wear waterproof because my eyes water.
I have very thin and fine hair also. Those types always pull my hair. And mine wouldn’t get lift from them either. Thanks for all the products you try so we don’t have to!!
I LOVE this videos 🙌🏼👏🏼 Thank you for sharing your experience with us 🥰 I really appreciate it 🤗 Feel like I can trust your honest opinion and that is everything this days 🙏🏼 Thanks again for everything you do!! sending love and support from Norway 🇳🇴 😘
Another great video! Thank you so much! I love these reviews ❤
Haha I just love your vibe and charm! Thanks for the cool content.
Thank you so much for reviewing Halara! I wanted to get a pair and now thanks to you, I just might 😊
...dangit, now I want those wide leg pants from Halara. But, also, thank you for showing them off :D
I feel so seen with my thin fragileee hair 🫠 greasy on day 2 is such a struggle and I’m tired of having to wash it every day. It’s nice though because whatever works for you, I know will work for me :)
I actually LOVE that mascara on you!
“Aww they’re all after me”😂
I watch you ladies for hours everyday put make up every day, because I never could, put it on to save my life 😂and I've realized , you are all just as pretty with out all this stuff but it is fun to watch , but you should stress as much as you do❤❤❤you are all gorgeous with out as well .
I am so excited to see that beehive candle. I have been iffy on buying it for my nana. So cute.
I love love HALARA clothes I have ordered so many shorts with the skirt over it and the pockets omg the pockets ❤❤
Hiii Rach! Love videos like this, hope you're doing well! 💕
You ALWAYS look sensational!
I have a lot of fine hair and I will put Velcro anything in my hair WHEN HELL FREEZES OVER!!!!!!!!
I just ordered those pants. Can’t wait! ❤
Oh, I love the KVD mascara, it is worth every penny. I love it. Nothing keeps the curl in my lashes, except that I’ve been using it for about three weeks.
I love the KVD mascara too ❤ have you tried the Milk Kush one? That's pretty solid, too
Great video as always - such useful reviews 😊
The candle thing is cool I love bees and the card dealer thing is so cool I think it would be nice for kids and elderly
As an Alabamian and as a woman who went to the University of Alabama and was in a sorority, it's still so interesting and funny to me that so many people are interested in Bama rush.
Your videos are so helpful and fun. ❤
I love Halara!!
I have thin fine hair. So thrilled you did the clips. I was curious about them.
Love your videos, I’ve been watching you for years and years! I would be so curious to see your hair routine. My hair is exactly like yours (fine and flat) and I’m in need of recommendations.
Thank you for making videos, they make my day 😊
Rachel, I keep telling you that you need to try Caruso Curls!! I have a LOT of baby fine hair that is very straight but the Caruso Curls works wonders!!
The H&M blanket gets softer as you wash it!! I hated the texture at first but it’s cozy now after a few washes 🤗
Yes!!!!! I have tons of these type of throws from Marshall’s, TJMAXX, and even Sam’s. They are muslin. They are like the backside of a worn quilt. The more you wash it, the better it gets.
The beehive candle is actually kinda of useful for ideas.
What foundation did you use? Not only was that color match perfection on you, it looked BEAUTIFUL & very smoothing!! 💜
Love 💕 everything you put out there!!!! My hair is exactly like yours, if it doesn’t work on you it also does not work on me
I found you through Tati. Love your channel. You’re hilarious and informative and I love the music you play. Very enjoyable. Thanks!
I actually love that mascara on you!
OMG a beekeeper i think i must have that beehive candle!!! ❤
I bought those Velcro clips and I have thick course hair. I hated them! The Velcro stuck to my hair too! Yuck! They went back immediately!
I love these videos and ur lashes look beautiful ❤ u should try the viral BK beauty brushes they r AMAZING they r like no other brush I've ever tried!!
I LOVED the last formula of the KVD mascara but I literally had the whole top of the mascara right where you screw it in break off three different times so it just wasn’t worth my time. I love tubing mascara and I did not know they had a new mascara out so I am buying it immediately thank you.
Ok, let me say this…I’m 64, and am loving and laughing all the way through your absolutely blunt honesty on this vid. I love make up but at my age, the less the better and I just don’t care how my eyebrows look as long as the color is perfect It’s me…😂😂😂. Im subbing for entertainment value for sure, you are just too darn adorable 😊☑️☑️☑️
Ps-I love the Black box! I’m known for putting glitter stars in my cards…people hate/love it!❤. I’m for sure getting some of those!❤
I too have thin hair, no matter what shampoo and conditioner I use, goes flat after styling..I have found the Hair Biology thickening spray with biotin and caffeine for thin hair and omg I love it, it does make the roots a little textured but nothing too bad, not sticky, not hard, not oily, gives the needed volume and it smells good(to me) and it lasts all day! This has been my go to for thickening it's only $9.99 at target
I remember you talking about hard water. I live in Alberta and have super hard well water. The best thing I found is the Malibu hard water shampoo. My hair stylist sells a kit. It had shampoo, conditioner and hard water treatments to help remove mineral build up. It’s the only thing that stopped my hair from breaking constantly.
For the drops it works way better if you put about 10 drops in a small spray bottle with water and then right out of the shower spray it on the brassy spots most needed on your hair. They also have blue drops for darker/brown hair to make it cooler.
Oh my goodness…the hair volume clips😢 I got one STUCK and was close to cutting it out! Definitely a learning curve and I too have fine hair. Fun video!
Chris is so matter of fact! 😂😂
Hey Rachel, I have a hair product for you to try, it's called La Boisthetique long hair it's a whole product line and I use the protective softening shampoo, they do have one for volume but I can only speak for the one I use. It's expensive but well worth it, it's now the only product I need and use for my hair. You have to use it for at least a month to get your scalp to acclimate to it, cause my head was so oily and used to all the silicones and stuff that it had kind of withdrawal symptoms of feeling dry but not being dry etc... Now I don't need any other products, it looks healthier than ever, less itchy scalp, a bit of volume, sooo flowy, rarely any bad tangles, dries way faster since they don't tangle to a big mess and smells sooo good and the best part is that gets oily slowly after day 4 not 2 so yay ! 😍 you do need to wash twice to get all the oil out but that's the intention, first wash almost no bubble or lather cause it binds all the oils and second wash gets out the rest and lathers perfectly normal.
AND NO USE OF OTHER PRODUCTS while you get your hair and scalp acclimated to it, that way all the silicones and bad stuff can get washed out.
Also a tip/recommendation: only use the shampoo in the upper part of your hair, the other parts will get washed when you wash out the shampoo, it helps very well with avoiding split and dry ends
Hope that helps and sorry for the long message 😅
With the hair clips on, you look ready for a role in the Cats musical
i think the mascara looked great on you!
What tanner are you using now? It looks really good today!
The brow thing! Please make a short using it like some people where they brush the whole applicator though the eyebrow, the spoolie up to get any shape you want! Let it dry and they won't move. 😄
I felt hypnotised by the card shooter (and the noise it made).
Wow Rachel, you are my spirit animal and I'm only halfway through my first video of yours! How have I never seen you before?
WELCOME!! 🙌
I have the same texture hair as you fine limp thin and the only thing I have tried that gives volume that stays is tigi bed head volumising cream it's in a purple sphere bottle with a green pump you put it on damp hair and blow dry gives lasting volume my hair doesn't hold a curl so for volume to last on me it's really good or use any volumising mousse dry your with head upside down also gives tons of volume 😊
I may snag that card thing for my parents. They have arthritis and it can be hard to deal but they love cards so this would be perfect for them.
Have y’all played Sleeping Queens 2- the rescue. I purchased the first version when you recommended it. My grandson loved the original but enjoys The Rescue even more!
The card thingy reminds me of Uno Extreme. Works great and it's easy to maintain 🙂
A few of my favorite home design YTubers are the House of Valentina, Rebecca Robeson (Robeson Design) her daughter Sherra (I’m sure I misspelled that but look up Kinwoven) and DIY with KB. They make design so fun and give options for lots of budgets.
I love diy with KB!
As someone who lives in Alabama, Rach mentioning my state made me happy
My favourite mascara that holds my thin but long and straight lashes is the idole lash from lancome in waterproof ( even the non waterproof holds pretty well in winter or if you aren’t active). I wear mine in everyday and where I live the weather changes ever 20 minutes so it holds up to wind, rain, sun/sweat, and my lashes don’t fall really. I just try to keep it to one coat or it gets heavy and goopy, but one coat is enough for me. One natural days I put it on and brush it out a bitand it looks like my lashes are just naturally pretty😂
I feel your pain on the fine hair. The older I get the finer it seems to get! I've given up on the fight for volume and got a blunt bob that I just lightly flat iron it and go on my marry way! 😁
Those rolls would live in my hair for eternity. They would never come out of my curly hair. Lol
I LOVE an all plant based hair care system (especially the shampoo, conditioner, and spray on conditioner) called Twelve twelve or twelve beauty.
The trick with this product, you always wash twice. The conditioner is AMAZING! It detangles my fine hair like nothing else.
I have super fine hair and it doesn't have much body at all. It does have a very slight wave to it. It only really looks good after I just wash it. If I leave it alone the next day it'll look like crap. So I like to braid it once it's dry and then I sleep on the braids and I take them out the next day. It gives me a lot of texture and volume. I don't like to comb out the waves completely because I put some of the hair up into a partial pony and leave the rest down. At the end of the day after work I take out the partial pony and I comb it all out and it's got a lot of nice soft waves. But I need to braid it again so it'll look nice for work the next day. I only wash my hair once a week.
I like your eyebrows before over the after. :)
A few years ago I had volumizing clips, but mine were smooth, not velcro..just a bit of comb teeth to help grip. But, they Always left those pinch marks that stayed in my hair for hours!
