@Arabella Merritt the way you do your own makeup at home for personal reasons is probably not the same standards professional makeup artists should have, especially considering the fact that everyone has different skin types. It's better to be cautious than just assume everything will be fine just because it's okay for you specifically.
I always do a cleanse, tone and moisturise before putting makeup on my clients and they're always astounded that I make the effort. Good base =good finish.
