Hi, thanks for the video. I replicated your set up and even ordered the same filter from the States as I’m in the UK. Question if that’s ok, is any part of your pipe system horizontal at all and roughly how long is the pipe you used? I set mine up with the filter in a pond and the pipe running up a 45 degree bank but it stopped pumping when the water reached the near horizontal section of the pipe. I’ve altered it so it’s always at an angle but it still only pumps about 75% of the way along the pipe then the pump goes slack. It’s roughly 8m of pipe currently so maybe too long. Any thoughts?
@@afig3539 it was one of the things I was going to try, adding more water. I think I need a second person in to pour it in as I’m pumping. Fingers crossed 🤞🏼
Yes, you definitely do and it will absolutely work and you will be so happy! 😁 Also, to me it seemed that when I left the handle in the upright position, it held on to the pressure longer (when I was filling buckets; so that your not priming it every time).
@@afig3539 I finally got it working with some extra priming and I love it. I’m going to add another check valve as the one on the pump doesn’t seal that well. Thanks again
Really great simple idea, cheers
I have got to do this! I’ve been lugging 5 gal buckets of water from my pond to the garden this summer. Thank you!
I remember those days well!! Not fondly, but well!
I’ve since found an electric pump to do that for me and attached a drip irrigation system to it!!
Exactly what I need for my pond! Thanks for sharing.
I mounted one on a pull cart instead of the wood base so it's easy to move around.
Brilliant!!! I may need to find a different solution for me too! Great idea!
Great stuff and very helpful, thanks!
Very cool

I BELIEVE your only issue is pressure. I think if you prime the pump enough, you will get the suction activated. Have you tried that already?
