    Hello Victoria, firstly THANK YOU for your videos... im from INDIA 🇮🇳, graduate in medicine, present im taking training in CPC, and most probably AHIMA also, in the coming few days.. Can you tell me that if i complete my coding and have a required experience, 1.can AMERICA hire coders from INDIA to work in their hospitals or offices? 2.If AMERICA is having sufficient coders why would people of INDIA learn coding to work for AMERICANS?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  Год назад +1

      Thank you for reaching out and for your kind words about my videos. To address your questions:
      The possibility of being hired in American hospitals or offices from India largely depends on the specific company and their hiring policies. While some companies hire internationally, they often prefer remote arrangements for coders based outside the US.
      The reason many American companies sometimes hire coders from India is primarily a financial one. Coders in India might be offered lower wages compared to those based in the US, making it cost-effective for certain companies.
      I hope that clarifies things a bit. Best of luck with your training and future endeavors in coding!

    Hello Victoria, I'm scheduled to take my CPC exam in November. Should I purchase the 2024 ICD 10 CM book with the new changes to study for my exam or can I use my 2023 book that I'm currently studying from?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  Год назад +4

      The exams get a refresh every January 1st to reflect the current calendar year's code sets. So, even though ICD-10-CM codes might update on October 1st, those changes won't show up in the exam until the new year rolls around. 🗓️
      Feel free to use last year's books, but just know you might be at a slight disadvantage. For the full scoop, check out AAPC's official guidance:
      www.aapc.com/certification/faq.aspx
      " What year's books should I use?
      All AAPC exams are based on the current calendar year’s code sets, so we strongly suggest you use the current year’s books. The previous calendar year’s books may be used on an exam, but you would be at obvious disadvantage doing so. The upcoming year’s books are not allowed for exam use. The exams are updated every January for the new code sets."

    I have been certified since September 2023, but still have not had any luck finding a job. What would be your tricks of staying on tops of the changes that come every year? Would you prefer to watch coding channels on youtube and keep a binder or notebook of the update, and study them while also finding coding scenarios on the internet and coding them? I feel rusty on coding

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  8 месяцев назад

      I understand it can be challenging to land your first coding job, but don't lose hope. Staying updated is key to maintaining your skills and increasing your employability. Watching reputable coding channels on RUclips is a great start; they can provide valuable insights and updates. Keeping a binder or notebook with the latest changes, notes, and coding scenarios is an excellent idea to keep your knowledge fresh and organized.
      Additionally, actively participating in forums, webinars, and online communities like AAPC or AHIMA can provide a deeper understanding and keep you informed about the latest in the coding world. Consider volunteering or part-time work in related healthcare positions to keep your skills sharp and add relevant experience to your resume. These efforts, combined with persistent job searching and networking, can significantly boost your chances of securing a position. Keep practicing and stay connected to the coding community!

    Hi Victoria, thank you so much for your videos and I learned a lot. I just want to ask, is the test in January 2024, will there be fill in the blanks question? or still multiple choice? my exam is this 27th January and it will be my 2nd attempt, hope I could make it😊 and thank u in advance for your reply.

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  7 месяцев назад

      The AAPC has stated they will let everyone know well in advance when and IF fill-in-the blank comes out, but it was NOT in the 2024 study materials. They had previously indicated the study materials would be changed prior to adding in any fill-in-the-blank questions. For the most accurate information regarding the current format of the CPC exam, please reference the AAPC website here:

But I passed and I have the opportunity to take second and third attempts. My question is what do you suggest I should do as far as studying to get a better grade and I was thinking of continuing on but I don't know what the next after billing and coding. I haven't registered yet to take certification exam due to financial reasons. Thankyou for all you do to help us coders to succeed.

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  Год назад +4

      Hey there, thanks for your comment and question! First of all, congrats on passing your final exam. In my experience, I've never heard of anyone being able to re-take their final exams for better grades in coding courses. And honestly, in the job market, your grades usually don't matter as much as having the actual CPC certification. Employers are more interested in whether you are certified, not what grade you got in your classes.
      If you're looking for ways to continue your studies, focusing on preparing for the CPC exam is a good next step. Financial constraints are understandable, but that certification will be important for landing a job in medical coding.
      Best of luck, and feel free to check out my other videos for more tips!

      Hello, thank you for reaching out! It's great to hear you're interested in medical coding and billing. While it's possible to study online and then later apply for the CPC certification, it's important to note that the CPC is primarily geared towards coding practices in the United States. @ContempoCoding Would you recommend getting the ebooks?

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  Год назад +1

      Right now, the AAPC still requires paper textbooks for their certification exams. However, they are in the beta testing phase of allowing eBooks for the exam, so that could change soon. The industry is definitely shifting more towards digital tools for efficiency and accessibility.
      Personally, I got a bundle this year that includes both paper and eBook formats for my 2024 books. It's great to have the digital option for convenience, but keep in mind that for any AAPC exams in the near future, you'll still need the paper textbooks.
