  • When it comes to medical coding, the guidelines are gold. Anyone can look up a code in a book, but only a trained medical coder knows the appropriate guidelines for utilization, sequencing, and application. Strong knowledge of the guidelines can help you pass coding certification and pre-employment examinations!
    You can follow along with the ICD-10-CM guidelines by downloading them for free on the CMS website: www.cms.gov/fi...
    Chapter 1: Infectious and other Parasitic Diseases. This covers medical coding guidelines for diseases like sepsis, HIV, and COVID-19.
    Only 21 more chapters to go!! What one are you most excited about??

    I am so grateful for this deep dive into guidelines/ conditions. I literally, am LOST with this stuff. I'm a month in and am totally overwhelmed. I've gotten more clarity with your segments as opposed to my reading and intepretation.

      Hang in there! My school just gave me information and basically had me learn myself. I felt the same, so overwhelmed! But I used a lot of videos on RUclips to help me out. Good luck!

    I bought an ICD-10-CM hospital expert book. I noticed for Glasgow coma scale the seventh character is required as indicated but the book does not list the seventh character to tell me if score recorded in field, ED, admission,etc. 1. What else does this book not have? 2. What is the most complete book to help me code complete codes? 3 what are the differences between the various types of code books? I am trying to to get assessments done for potential interviews and I am unclear what will be best for my success. Thank you

    Thank you for your videos! Is there some kind of flow chart or something for sepsis? The sepsis vs. severe sepsis seem clear, but once it gets into post procedural, I'm still kind of at a loss. Thanks!

    Hello, I plan on taking the CCS in December or march of 2021, do you recommend getting year 2020 books or 2021? I ask because I know codes update every October and I could not find anywhere on the website if they would want 2020 and/or 2021 or if they will allow books 2020 till October of next year? sorry this is long. thank you.

    • @ContempoCoding
      @ContempoCoding  4 года назад +2

      That's a tough question. I haven't taken the CCS exam myself, so I would call with AHIMA and ask for their advice. I know the AAPC doesn't update exams until January.

    May I suggest doing separate videos in each language. It's too difficult to follow along when you switch between languages... very distracting.
