      Vibes do you know how fast you have to run per 400m to go sub27?
      65s laps
      If he can’t run 60s laps like it’s a jog then he has no chance.

      @wardm4 6 лет назад +28

      Haha. Okay, troll. That might not be an elite workout, but it's not slow. I live in CT, and those times, according to Hanson's calculator, would have won you the High School men's 1600m for the state. That's hardly slow.

    • @aidanwagner118
      @aidanwagner118 6 лет назад +2

      wardm4 I agree that its not that slow but the evidence for that pace winning the 1600 states goes against you because if a high schooler can ran that 4 times in a row with no brake then doing it with a minute-2 minutes break in between is actually slow. However I agree that the pace is hard to hit multiple times for the average person.

    Why did Ches skip this workout? Is his calf still bothering him?

    • @chandlermaciel3298
      @chandlermaciel3298 6 лет назад +4

      This workout was still before the Prefontaine Classic. I saw him more recently (the last day of NCAA's) in Eugene and he was in a boot and crutches. I asked him what happened, and he told me he hurt it at Pre. I can only speculate, but my guess is his calf/soleus/Achilles was still banged up at the time of this workout and he hurt it pretty bad going after a fast 2 mile. I hope he's smart with it and doesn't jump in some late summer track meets before it's fully healed.

    • @mstrunn
      @mstrunn 6 лет назад +7

      They are called cut-downs, slower to faster, last one feels like a race effort.

    • @philellul4476
      @philellul4476 6 лет назад

      It’s called Warm in to them

    • @dangahagan7645
      @dangahagan7645 5 лет назад +3

      Cutting down is generally going to be a better workout, because it's harder and is a better simulation of a race, which is often run in a negative split (or at the very least, with a fast last lap...for example, the 1500 world record opened with a 53 and closed with a 54, with two 55s in the middle).

    Also how do you know how many sets like this to do, i.e why 4?

    • @parkerjones6598
      @parkerjones6598 6 лет назад

      E4zyp34zyl3m0nsq33ZY 4 sets keeps the workout in even intervals of rest, so they have enough rest to do the workout and they don’t fall of their paces from fatigue

    • @E4zyp34zyl3m0nsq33ZY
      @E4zyp34zyl3m0nsq33ZY 6 лет назад

      Parker Jones I'm not sure I follow, I think understand why the rest would be need to follow a uniform pattern but not why they need an even number of sets/rest intervals? I'm wondering how they decide how much volume to do in the work out, what thats based on. Is it an individual marker that they know based on their ability, or is it supposed to be a percentage of the event distance, or something else?

    • @parkerjones6598
      @parkerjones6598 6 лет назад +1

      E4zyp34zyl3m0nsq33ZY I believe it is a mixture of both. This workout is probably one hey have done before as well, but since it seems that they weren’t in peak shape when this was made, they may have based the reps based on a certain mileage they are running per week. They make the amount of reps in a set the same so it’s easier to control/increase the intensity of the workout (by speeding up on the last reps, that way they aren’t running to slow due to exhaustion)

    • @E4zyp34zyl3m0nsq33ZY
      @E4zyp34zyl3m0nsq33ZY 6 лет назад +1

      Parker Jones I was thinking about it more and maybe it could also be that 4x3reps is 12 laps which is pretty much the same as a 5k race distance.

    The pace is designed to make one tempo...62...seem like pace so surges in races are practiced here.
    Wish i had an every day coach in early 1980s....
    Two friends wanted to do 4 times 400m w longer rest..
    First 3 were 60 to 60.9
    I said ok..u 2 just dont worry bout me...i am feeling it.
    After 200m they had big lead but i saw them trying to fight each other off....then my racing instincts took over and before I knew it i came flying off last turn n nailed them in 56.
    That was only 4.
    But big diff was it was in October w zero track of fartlek for months....just a whim.
    One guy had US 5k record of 13:19 while 3rd yr med school.
    Other guy had run 3:42 w a 54sec last lap....but still this was not speed phase...just lazy mile phase.

      @Stampede_Gaming 6 лет назад +6

      Tom Brady #GOAT The two nike guys had on flats for the first set and then switched to spikes for the last three. Probably wanted to ease into the workout and didn’t feel the need for spikes as they were trying to hold back. Pat Casey (the one under armour) stuck with spikes the whole time however.

    When the hell do distance runners stop in between reps and take rests (sitting down), a light jog or a steady recovery pace run. I am confused well I guess this is why less and less will be broken down the road. I am so confused, is there new sports science research about heart rates dropping for better cardiovascular workouts???

  • @lukephillips4423
    @lukephillips4423 6 лет назад +11

    Lol Hassan must be so annoying to train with low key. He does that shit where he runs up next to you at the end of every rep. Also, Coach Has said 58 would be cool on the last rep and they all ran way faster. So either they all ran way faster than necessary, or the coach didn’t know their fitness.
