  • @4SquirrelsInATrenchcoat

    Question. Would an oil engine pressure switch stuck on "off" cause my van to not accelerate properly? I just bought a 2016 Dodge Grand caravan and the damn thing won't GO, it insists on accelerating at snail's and that's so dangerous. I thought it was a throttle position sensor but the code that was thrown was for the oil engine pressure switch.

    When taking out the oil pressure sensor would it be necessary to take off the upper and lower manifold to get to the oil pressure sensor or do you just need to takeoff one of the manifold I am going to replace the gaskets to that

    I do have a code that says I need to replace this sensor. I'm curious about the symptoms of a bad sensor. My car has a very hard time starting. HOWEVER, ONCE IT HAS WARMED UP IT STARTS WITHOUT AN ISSUE. Could the sensor give me starting problems?

    • @livefree6878
      @livefree6878  4 года назад +1

      I definitely do not like throwing parts at a problem. We got the 520 error code, by the time I got there my buddy had the sensor already purchased. At that point we just put it in because it was the easiest thing to do. In our case it absolutely solved the problem. I can’t remember it was hard to start when it was cold or not. I’d have to look up the diagnostic test for the sensor.

    • @Theadamsfamily2000
      @Theadamsfamily2000 4 года назад +3

      We are replacing ours now. You only have the updated version if it has been replaced before. Now it's so tight in there, the clamp and hose are in the way, and you can't get the bigger socket to fit over the sensor. A 20 minute job has turned into an all day, what-do-we-do job.

    This is perfect! I think I have a slight leak in the manifold. A pool of about a quarter inch deep of either motor oil or coolant, maybe both. Is there a trick to removing it without significantly more work?

    • @DapimpBDSD
      @DapimpBDSD 2 года назад

      The manifold is held down by 4 10mm nuts (2 in front by coolant tube, 2 in rear)
      And 8 or so 8mm screws.
      After that, disconnect intake tube and and hoses and electrical connectors and it should wiggle off.

    This project can take 5 minutes or 5 hours. You know what needs to be done. With all the wires and hoses in the way and such a tiny space to try to work in, you are probably better off letting a mechanic deal with this headache. Another solution is use a 1 inch peice of electric tape to cover the check engine light is a better fix.
