Oh my God yes! I saw her play Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd years ago. Greatest musical theater performance I have ever seen. Do you think Judy Kaye will do the national tour of this?
I sometimes hear Mary Martin. She originally sung it. Whitney did the song and Rogers and Hammerstein’s legacy justice by pulling song from their catalog to put in her version of Cinderella. It is the best version of the musical ever.
I'm loving this fairy godmother. She's the best so far- better than the original fairy godmother. In my opinion, the fairy godmother works best slightly bigger (curvy like) and older. That way she feels more like a motherly figure to Cinderella. The smaller actresses who played her aren't that bad, but I felt more chemsitry between Judy Kaye and Keke Palmer than any other Cinderella and fairy godmother.
What's going on in this scene? I'm curious as to why she has the pink dress on...the only place that I have heard this song is in the Brandy version at the end
Wait...(assuming Ella is Cinderella) so Ella has one of the stepsister's dresses on, and the stepmother destroys it? Sorry! Again, haven't had a chance to see this live yet.
+CastMemberLove Gabrielle, one of the step daughters who is kind to Cinderella knew that she was the beautiful girl at the ball that the prince adored. Her mother (Cinderella's Stepmother) wants Gabrielle to marry the prince but she doesn't love the prince and wants to marry the town revolutionary Jean Michel . Before this, Gabrielle acts like she is ill and convinces her mother to let her stay home instead of going to the ball. Her mother allows it and leaves. Once she is gone, Gabrielle gives Cinderella her gown to wear and Jean Michel comes to take Gabrielle out for a romantic evening. While Gabrielle and Jean Michel kiss in the house, the Stepmother walks in. She sees them kissing and goes mad. Cinderella enters now having changed out of her rags into her sister's gown. The stepmother is now infuriated and yells at Cinderella, telling she never loved her nor her father. She tears Cinderella's dress apart and throws Gabrielle and Jean Michel out. Cinderella is left alone. FG enters.
+Rosedale1 Well to be fair, fairies were often portrayed as being monstrous beings. So its kind of...normal that she has pink horns. Fairies in mythology weren't the most beautiful or nicest beings.
No their antenna. Like you would typically see on a butterfly. Some fairies are depicted as being part human part butterfly so I think that’s what they’re going for here. I have an old story book of cinderella where the fairy godmother has butterfly wings and antenna that look just like the antenna she’s wearing here.
It's a great version. You can't compare the two. Whitney's version is more contemporary whereas this version is more classical. You can prefer one over the other, but there's no objective matter on this.
Judy Kaye....a Broadway legend like no other. What a voice.

Actually Kecia Lewis will be playing Crazy Marie on tour.. I actually almost caught her in Sweeney todd...the recent revival on for Patti
Michael I. Haber
Kecia Lewis was fabulous as Marie! :) And so kind and genuine at the stage door!
Beautiful but I cannot help but head Whitney Houston's voice in my head.

this reminded me so much of whitney 😔😔😔😔😔 #RestEasyAngel
Missing my Whitney so much right now.
Who likes Whitney Houston's version better? 🙋🏻
Me
Me!
No
✋🏿
I still think she should have sang this at the end like the movie.
Hearing this song makes me miss Whitney. This lady is amazing of course, but damn Whitney.

This is the scene that Ella and Gabrielle -one of her stepsisters- changed their outfit for the ball. Her stepmother saw it and destroyed the dress.

Wow thanks! That definitely clears everything up! This version sounds much different, but I wish I could see it in person!
Are those horns for the fairy godmother?
Yes, this is very weird
+Rosedale1 Well to be fair, fairies were often portrayed as being monstrous beings. So its kind of...normal that she has pink horns. Fairies in mythology weren't the most beautiful or nicest beings.
Interesting. I've never heard them described this way.

Ummm..where's Whitney? 🤔🤔😙
She died in 2012.
Is she the fairy godmother?
yes
Whitney is the real one
this made me very sad lol compared to Whitney's version this is absolute garbage

@@rebekahsegun8319 I can compare. This is garbage compared to the way Whitney flawlessly sung this song.
@@rebekahsegun8319 I mean I can compare. Whitney's version is better lol
This is terrible
That vabrado can be toned down with voice training, too much vabrado or timbre in her soprano, yet a beautiful song.
Whitney's was better
